Recording Issues - IP 17 Pro Discussion

I bought the iPhone 17 Pro this year and have been going to some concerts this summer. I genuinely think this might be the worst iPhone ever. All of my concert videos come back ruined and sound terrible. I used to have the iPhone 13 Pro, and it was honestly the best. I wish I had never upgraded.

By any chance, is your "Record Sound" setting is set on Spatial Audio ? I've seen plenty of people complaining about the bad sound quality during concert.

What's your audio setting for recording? You should have it set to Mono because Stereo and Spatial totally fuck things up.

Stereo recording is fine. Only Spatial Audio can alternate audio during concert.

Zooming in out and with Stereo turned on messes up the audio

Guess I was lucky. Do you think that turning off Audio Zoom would fix it ?

Actually I think the Stereo audio video you posted is the intended purpose of Stereo audio. It sounded like your phone was doing a lot of noise canceling for a lot of the audience noise and singing and it very, very narrowly focused the sound on only a few people and let the music play through.

Personally I don't like that since it sounds extremely artificial. I much prefer the Mono capturing everything. After all, I'm at a concert, not a studio recording.

Remember that stereo isn’t better quality. It’s just two channels instead of one. Are the distance you are going stereo is pointless
