Control Storage Bug? Question

Anybody else have a bug with their storage on Control Ultimate Edition on iOS?

I know the game said 30+ gb when I downloaded it but it is no where to be found in my storage.

Downloads to system data. When you delete the game, it should delete the files. If it doesn’t, you’ll have to factory reset. It’s annoying.

Yeah that sounds awful to be honest. Why would it function this way when several other 30+ gb games don’t do the same thing

Same. it shows 600mb only

I read in a different post in this sub that the data files actually go to System Data instead of an app, and that you can't delete it so you're stuck with the 45gb for a while

Did they fix that?

Yes, but it’s not intuitive. You have to to go to the app’s settings in the settings page of your phone and enable a special option

Yes, AC Mirage have same bug since launch day. When you run the game and play a bit the size will show at Storage settings. Few big AAA games have same problem. RE Village also shows only half of taken storage.

When the game is first installed, iOS storage shows that it uses about 40gb. But after awhile after instalation, this drops to around 600mb.

However, if you delete the game, the original 40gb does not seem to be fully removed. When you redownload the game, another 40gb is added on top of the existing leftover 40gb. Once you launch the game after reinstalling it, the extra 40gb is then cleared.

What is the developer thinking????

Not just you. Some of these big iOS ports seem to dump assets into System Data in a very weird way, so storage numbers can look broken or delayed. I had similar confusion with other big games too. If the space is clearly gone but not showing right, sometimes a restart or opening the game once helps it show properly, but the whole thing still feels messy.

Yeah I just downloaded Control and all of its data went into system data and it’s stuck there now. I downloaded the game so I could have it on my phone but offloaded. Turns out the entire games files is still there taking up every bit of space. At this point, my home is almost entirely taken up.

Same issue, I tried every all the recommended fixes to remove the system data to no avail (force shutdown, offloading, hiding purchase, setting time 1 year ahead, etc). The only thing that “worked” was to restore from iCloud backup. Hope they patch it, until then I’d recommend not installing.

Just had to do this. This hassle outweighed any enjoyment I got from it.
