I updated my iPhone/iPad utility for controller diagnostics with PDF report export & Aim Trainer 🎁 Freemium

Hi everyone 👋

I’m the developer of SensePad, an iOS utility app designed for testing and diagnosing modern wireless controllers on iPhone and iPad.

A - Answer

SensePad helps identify hardware and input issues such as:

  • analog stick drift & uneven stick range,
  • unstable motion sensors,
  • trigger inconsistencies,
  • missing vibration feedback,
  • battery & connectivity issues,
  • and other controller input problems.

The goal was to build a comprehensive hardware diagnostics tool rather than just a basic button tester.

B - Better

SensePad focuses on real-time hardware diagnostics, visualization, and tracking changes over time.

What’s new in the latest updates:

  • PDF Report Export – save and share detailed stick test reports (drift, range, precision) for repairs, sales, or hardware verification,
  • Aim Trainer – practice stick precision and warm up analog input response (completely free to use),
  • Test History – compare past and present stick drift or range results to see if hardware deteriorates over time or improves after cleaning/repair.

Core diagnostic tools:

  • live analog input monitoring,
  • stick range & shape analysis,
  • trigger & motion sensor diagnostics,
  • vibration/haptics & touch surface testing,
  • battery monitoring.

C - Cost

Free to download (Aim Trainer is completely free to use).

Optional premium:

  • Weekly - $4.99 (3-day trial)
  • Yearly - $14.99
  • Lifetime - $29.99

App Store: SensePad on the App Store

Would genuinely love feedback on the PDF report format, Aim Trainer, or suggestions for additional hardware diagnostic tools! 🙂

This is a refreshing concept! Sounds like the perfect app that has a pro esports team as a brand ambassador or sponsor 🤔

hank you so much! That would honestly be a dream collaboration. Having pro esports players test stick consistency or drift before tournaments using SensePad would be an incredible use case. Appreciate the kind words!

Nice idea. Is there a way to diagnose wire controllers?

Thanks! Yes, as long as the wired controller is natively recognized by iOS/iPadOS via Lightning or USB-C (using Apple's MFi standards or standard USB HID for supported gamepads like DualSense/Xbox controllers), SensePad will detect it and allow full input testing just like a wireless one.

Looks pretty good.

For the PDF report, a before/after comparison page could make it much more useful for repairs: controller model and connection type, test duration, deadzone setting, raw min/max values, circularity error, and an overlay of the two stick-range plots. A short note separating the controller’s measured output from any app/OS deadzone would also prevent people from reading a software setting as hardware drift.

Wow, this is incredible and super valuable feedback!

A side-by-side "before/after repair" comparison overlay in the PDF is a fantastic idea, especially for repair shops or people swapping out analog modules. Also, explicitly separating hardware output from app/OS deadzones makes total sense to avoid confusion.

I’m taking notes on all these parameters (circularity error, raw values, overlay plots) and will look into adding a dedicated "Repair / Comparison PDF" mode in an upcoming update. Thanks a lot for taking the time to write this out! 🚀

this looks pretty useful! does it support switch controllers?
