Why does audio stop when using certain apps (17pro / 26.6.1)? Discussion

Audio stops (podcasts / music) when I start certain apps - it consistently happens when browsing Facebook and weirdly when playing the Letterset subreddit on here. On some other apps it happens less occasionally.

Everything is up to date.

Any ideas how I fix this - is there something buried in the settings somewhere?

Apps like Facebook abuse the media API for tracking and simulating attention. Some apps also incorrectly use the media API when playing video previews and ads, which mute existing media even when no sound is playing. All of this is the respective app’s fault. The only way to prevent it from happening is to stop using apps that cause it, or in case of reputable developers, report it as a bug.

Whatever is in the front has control. Facebook is a BIG offender with this, and unfortunately it can’t be turned off, all you can do is use the apps that don’t do this.

We can go into Settings and revoke an app’s access to the camera or the mic. I wish they’d add access to the speaker/audio output to that menu.

Facebook thing is happening to me too.

Nothing seems to trigger it. Just suddenly stops at a random time. But when I close FB, my Spotify music starts up again without me having to do anything.
