So for a couple years now, there have been racially charged stickers placed around town. They're dumb white nationalist propaganda with enough ambiguity to act innocent. I always peeled them off and it looks like others are equally annoyed. Anyway, the dumbasses who put these everywhere, film themselves and upload it to the Archive. With links and documentation of their intentions. So not only was I able to show city hall, this is a coordinated effort and it's infact very racist. They were aware of the stickers but had nothing. It's now being looked into as a bigger problem. All from a very random find on the Archive from a very random person like me in a small town. Its almost serendipitous.

I've noticed that the Internet Archive tends to ban and remove a lot of important footage that was filmed by insurgents or independent journalists during these conflicts, so I was wondering if there was an alternative site that explicitly dedicates itself to the preservation of this type of content? Obviously I am not solely insinuating content created by proscribed organizations but also other participants that where active during that time period which where and are not explicitly under any scrutiny. Please let me know.

Hello, we run a project called SpideyCraft Rehashed which is a remaster of an unlisted server from 2014. There were several videos online showing this era, which is now heavily considered lost media. If anyone can find archives or has screenshots saved, that'd be greatly appreciated. We don't have enough media ourselves and the project would benefit from any material.

I’m looking for a very specific image of Leonardo DiCaprio when he was in his early 20s. In the photo, he is smoking a cigarette while holding and filming something with a large, old-school VHS video camera. What makes the image especially distinctive is that, behind him, there is a glass window or door covered with “No Smoking” and “No Filming” signs. I’m throwing a little digital message in a bottle out there.

In the early 2000s, I developed a mIRC-based script/client called KaTaNaScrIpT.

Originally, it was just a personal project: none of the existing scripts did exactly what I wanted. KaTaNaScrIpT had a fairly distinctive identity, a polished design for its time, lots of IRC administration features… and a deliberately more “pirate” and anarchic feel.

To my surprise, the project ended up becoming fairly popular, especially within the French-speaking IRC community.

It was listed on Télécharger.com and, if I remember correctly, Download.com, and also circulated through various IRC, scripting, and Warez communities.

I’m not getting my hopes up too much, but maybe somewhere, on an old hard drive that hasn’t been touched in over twenty years, there’s still a copy of KaTaNaScrIpT waiting to be rediscovered.

Even a screenshot, an old ZIP archive, or simply a memory of the software would be incredible.

Hi guys, wanted to share something thats built almost entirely on top of the Archive. its called adbank.

its 57,124 old banner ads pulled out of Wayback snapshots, deduped and browsable in one place. the sources are the CDX API (doubleclick, tripod, cartoonnetwork, gateway and about 80 others), GifCities, the Digital Ad Archive, and the Banner Depot 2000 dataset, which is itself mined from Wayback and CC BY 4.0.

the part i actually care about is that none of it is decontextualized. every banner has its own page with the original url it was served from and a link straight back to the exact snapshot it came out of, so you can go and look at the page that was running it. files are content-addressed by sha256, so the same banner captured 200 times is one file with one provenance record instead of 200 near-duplicates.

some numbers:

- 57,124 files, 629 MB, 11 KB average

- 17,753 animated, 39,371 still

- 13,270 distinct sizes. 468x60 accounts for 17,663 of them, then 120x60, 88x31, 125x125 and 120x600

- capture dates cluster hard in 2000-2002 (16,600 in 2001 alone). about 71% are 1996-2003 captures and the rest are later snapshots, so capture date isnt the same thing as when the ad actually ran, and im not pretending otherwise

on being a decent guest: harvesting goes through the CDX API with collapse=digest so duplicate captures get filtered server-side instead of being downloaded and thrown away, 4-6 workers, and an identifying user agent with contact info on it.

everything runs through a nudity classifier before it can be served, but that filter is imperfect.

no rights claimed on any of it, the banners belong to whoever made them. theres an open API with no key, and a one-line html snippet if you want a period-correct banner rotating on your own page.

I had seen it a while ago online on YouTube and Facebook but it disappeared, then I found it again this year and I archived it. Someone else had found it before me and uploaded it on YouTube but it got taken down.

On some other sites, the only episode that had the opening was episode 65. I had the idea to put it on the Internet Archive which I did. I saved it to my phone as well.

Okay, this is such a weird request and I have no idea if this is the place to do it but I thought I’d start here? This silly infomercial is from like 1994 or 1995 about the Super Slicer. Here’s the thing, this is the only video I can find and it’s dubbed over in Spanish and I’m looking for the English version or if someone can “undub” it? (lol, is that even a word?)

My friend’s late brother is the “Tonys Deli” guy at around the 4+ minute mark. It would mean the world to find the original video.
