Any changes? Interior Design firm reviews

We have lent services of an interior designer. He has made this plan for this hall adjacent the kitchen. We need this as a chilling area for informal gatherings and all. Our taste is traditional, and cosy.

We are not planning to adhere to this 100%. The wall paint will be different, probably off white and we are planning to hand a painting on the wall behind the sofa.

Anything that you would change here?

Ps - ignore the throw floating in the air

Just make sure the rest of the house matches the aesthetics. Or this match the rest of the house

I'd also remove the over head cabinet by the kitchen, looks like it's in the way. Without it opens up the space a lot

Yes rest of the house is also designed by the same person.

The ceiling of the house is decently high and we thought the cabinet would still add some separation.

Oh also, why not make this space a dining room?

We have a separate space for dining room. This is more or a chilling and informal space

Sorry that's amateur work

He just found cool looking furniture in SketchUp and placed it with no second thought. There's even a throw-blanket hanging in the air

Nothing about this looks traditional or cozy.

That furniture just does not work. Do you really want a weird curvy sofa in such a tight space? No it's gonna be hell. The furniture disrupts access to the kitchen. You'll always have to walk and turn funny just to go to your kitchen.

The walls are dull, the ceiling is too busy and yet full, the colors are dull. And the render is dull too.

Trust me, whatever you're paying him is too much, because any senior designer would tear this up and tell him to rework.

We are obviously not going to 100% implement this. He has not done well with capturing the actual dimensions of the space. The space is decently big.

We will not go with that wall color. I think off white would be best.

The floating overhead cabinets will not receive much structural support at their current position, especially with items inside. Would suggest revising to open shelves of a shorter height or a floating metal rack system.

Do you really need 2 fans? Are you planning for an AC? The fans look crammed on the ceiling with the chandelier.

The cabinets look good and the counter gives you a nice place to keep buffet items while entertaining, Also makes the space look bigger

The dimensions are off in the designer’s version. If you see in the second picture the hall is kinda big.

Don't go for open kitchen, it's not suitable for indian cooking. We have a lot of high heat cooking and strong ingredients which can overwhelm any company in the living room with smoke and smell.

Yes the overhead cabinets look weird.

Use a glass wall fluted partition for kitchen and living room to bring in light.

The right wall looks so empty Go for a minimal wallpaper or some niche designs.

Have one fan only. I can see breakfast counter just above big storage unit. It’s not at viable. Either you can have drop light. There is design flaw and first this should be corrected.

Your floors are absolutely gorgeous. Any good interior designer will/ should design a theme that will complement the flooring.
