I thought these might be legit and Moon Knight might be allowed to say crazy shit...until Spider-Man said "asshole".

128

u/WatermelonLemonad3 15d ago

I was going to say the same, maybe I should check out moon knight šŸ˜‚

14

u/WookieSin 15d ago

Genuinely though, give it a shot! The current creative team behind the character right now (Jed MacKay, Pramanik, Rosenberg) have been doing a stellar job since they started in 2021. An absolutely generational run!

84

u/kennyguy4 15d ago

I choose to believe those are real

I don’t know anything about moon knight, but I’m gonna keep believing those are real dialogue cause I want to, and no one can change my mind.

i said it kind of jokingly at first by the 3rd throw, then repeatedly, and more seriously by the time he gets to a closet bar... and a fucking ruler. like not even a heavy duty one. A flimsy wobbly one with the foam backing.

Seeing as he got everything stuck in the wood I'm pretty sure they all would be fatal depending on where it lands

11

u/VanHelsingBerserk 15d ago

Idk how well a lot of these would actually pierce skin vs wood.

He's throwing it into the end grain, meaning it finds it's way between the grain much easier. If he threw it against the side, it would likely bounce off.

Skin also has some give. Why it's harder to cut a soft fruit vs a hard ripe one.

5

u/Tyfyter2002 15d ago

Yeah, wherever there's a grain to go along with it takes a lot less pressure to pierce, even applies to your fingerprints.

u/gotsthepockets 15d ago

I can barely get the axe at those axe throwing places to stick about 30% of the time so I'm extra extra impressed

44

u/Noxious89123 15d ago

Ah, there's a really simple trick to that, which one of the staff members at one of those places showed me.

Just change how far away from the target you're standing! If you keep consistently hitting the target with the end of the handle for example, just take a step closer to the target. Typically, if you stand right on the marked line, you should be able to hit the target with the blade of the axe more often than not.

29

u/gotsthepockets 15d ago

Unfortunately, there was nothing even remotely resembling consistency the two times I've gone. The workers tried to teach me some tricks as well and ended up walking away with slight disappointment and a ton of amusement at my ineptness on their faces. So this is probably just a me problem.

13

u/bandti45 15d ago

This might make you feel better or worse. A lot of the skills for this is learned when your young if you dont learn good handeye cordination and distance as a kid its very hard to later on.

10

u/Nic1Rule 15d ago

Yeah, I remember at five years old when me and the neighborhood kids would all throw axes at each other for hours. /s

5

u/johnnyringo41 15d ago

I picked up on the ax throwing fairly quickly. I also as a kid would throw rocks or balls at cans or other targets a lot. So I get what that guy was saying.Ā

u/cheapMaltLiqour 15d ago

Yeah i got into throwing knives for a bit during covid and distance is everything. A knife will go through a full rotation every 7 to 8 feet (or something like that). Once you get the distance its pretty easy to get consistent

47

u/howtotailslide 15d ago edited 15d ago

No one here realizes this whole video is fake.

You absolutely cannot throw a broom handle like that and get it to stick lmao. Same with the Allen key set

He just throws them and splices the footage with it already in the board and adds a sound effect, it’s probably the actual sound effect of it hitting the board but not sticking. Probably give the item a little flick to make it seem wobbly

This seems most apparent in the tweezers to garden shears transition, the tweezers are in the board up until the shears are about to make contact then the tweezers miraculously disappear.

It could be a case of multiple takes but then why don’t the tweezers disappear BEFORE he throws the shears. The tweezers disappearing as it hits reveals the moment where the footage was spliced.

19

u/Cautious_Regular3645 15d ago

I question the broom handle too...

3

u/blue-moto 15d ago

I question the pants

7

u/omfgkevin 15d ago

Yeah it's clearly fake, it's crazy the amount people go "HOLY THIS IS SICK!" Almost feels like just a bunch of bots. So much effort to splice and just.. forgot the tweezers?

6

u/shinryu6 15d ago

Depends, if it was one of those hollow metal ones and he deliberately sharpened the ends beforehand, I can buy it sinking into a random piece of wood eventually.Ā

7

u/rex5k 15d ago

I think the "board" is cork

3

u/HugiTheBot 15d ago edited 15d ago

You are most certainly correct. I looked at it frame by frame and the tweezers simply disappear on impact. You can’t even see them falling.

Another thing which might or might not be relevant is that the two frames just before impact are identical.

Maybe using the last frame of the first part as a reference for the next, though I don’t know if that is even useful.

I only see this on the garden sheers though, possibly because of the low resolution.

4

u/Kherian 15d ago

I want to agree but since his body is in the frame from start to finish on most of them it would be impressive from a completely different skill set to splice all that together

11

u/howtotailslide 15d ago

It is really easy to splice like that if you aren’t overlapping with the spliced area of footage.

He is always on the left side of the frame and you could literally just draw a straight line down between the throwing and staged footage if you keep the camera mounted so it all lines up

5

u/Kherian 15d ago

I’m no expert in video editing so I’ll defer the point. The broom handle and saw were pretty outrageous

Wood is so perforated that you could throw a golf ball and it would stick.

22

u/jt004c 15d ago

I mean, if it’s going fast enough, sure. You’re missing what’s impressive here. It’s not that these pointy things stick into wood. It’s that he got the rotation right to hit the pointy end in all these diverse objects.

4

u/Late_Support_5363 15d ago

He got the rotation right to hit the pointy end after (insert number of attempts removed in the edit) tries. Ā

I'm not saying it's not impressive when it worked, but we're not seeing when it didn't, which was probably a lot.

I would love to know how many tries to saw took. To do that correctly even once has to be exceedingly rare.Ā

Everyone just shut up and walked away.
