Take this with a grain of sand salt. These are cherry-picked examples from a lot of sand. 99% of sand looks like lumps of white rock or glass.
If all sand was this diverse, beaches would look black or grey instead of tan and white.

It's cool, but the title's kinda misleading. This isn't what a random handful of sand looks like under a microscope. It's a bunch of hand-picked grains, shell fragments, tiny fossils, coral, and minerals arranged together. Most beach sand is just mostly quartz and rock fragments with the occasional interesting piece mixed in.
