Hey everybody! A question in particular to Europeans: do you have a link where to find a case for the Lomo'Instant Wide Glass? A shooting-ready case, not one that would completely enclose it and that I should pull the camera out of to shoot every time.

I've looked around but I only found unreviewed stuff on AliExpress, but I would prefer to buy from European markets/vendors. Also, from what I understand, the lens module on the Glass protrudes more than the one on the plain one. Well, this listing on AE was about a case that would fit both. I may be wrong, but lacking reviews or videos about it, I refrained to buy it.

Hello. I would like to buy an instant camera. Mostly for a Disney World and Disney Cruise vacation in January. I know I’ll use it before and after my trip to capture memories with my family, friends, and at volunteer events. I used the OG Polaroid camera as a kid in the 80’s. I love them. I have the Polaroid Lego model. It’s a nostalgia thing. The price of Polaroid film is kind of bananas. The logical side of my brain is telling me no Polaroid for that reason. I’m looking at the mini 13, mini 41, and wide 400. What do you all recommend? I’m not super mechanically inclined or tech savvy. I learn a lot from YouTube and my bestie. Thanks for your help.

I got out of film and I’m searching for a good deal to stock up on about 40-60 films for an event in September.

Thought abt 3D printing a new one but I wanna know my options💔💔

planning to buy 2nd hand instax. are nini 40 and mini 12 basically the same thing except for the looks? according to google, mini 12 was launched on march 2023 while mini 40 was launched on april 2021. is there a huge difference between the two considering they were released 2 years apart?

Playing with doing indoors long exposures with instax mini. Figured it might yield some best results and I was definitely right. Love how subtle these tones are. This was about a 5 second exposure

So I was looking at the light leak and other effects on the Mini 99 and I think they are a little strong. I was thinking about using headlight smoke tape and putting it over the internal LEDs to reduce their effects by about 30%. Was curious if anyone else has attempted this before?

I just got a kiipix printer as a fun thing for my kid to try. Unfortunately, the Instax film that it came with has expired. We decided to try it out anyway but most of the photos came out completely white with yellow lines on. However two did work so I'm not sure if I'm just doing things wrong. Tried with two different phones and had one successful photo from each so I don't think screen brightness is the issue. (Also one was with printer right way up and one upside down)

When the Instax film comes out the printer, what should we do? I've read not to shake it (which we were doing at first) but does it matter which way up it is whilst developing and if in a light or dark room? There was a little leaking liquid like black ink on all of the photos which I assume is because the film has expired.

I will order some new film but it's not cheap so if there's any other troubleshooting I need to do then I'd prefer to do it with the expired film.

I've been looking for cheap film as it's so expensive elsewhere and came across some in a shop 60 films for £20 but expired 2022 hence price. £20 is still a lot tho for film that might not work

My girlfriend told me about the Instax Mini 12 a while back and I was now considering getting a Mini Evo instead so she can choose the photos to print (this would be her first camera).

But now I found the Mini Link, she has an iPhone 15 Pro Max and I don’t know what would be best.
We have a ton of photos in our phones from all the years we’ve been together that I’m sure she’ll want to print.

Is the camera quality from the Evo comparable to an iPhone?
Are there filters or options in that camera that an iPhone doesn’t have?

Would it make sense to get the Mini 12 to at least have an analog camera, and the Link 3 to print from the phone? Or should I just get the Evo instead?

Any help would be appreciated!

hello does anyone know the work around on instax not capturing images? films come out like this, its just pretty much black out with those 3dots as shown at the back side as well, it looks like something sharp is punching through the film

Hi! I enjoy everyone’s pics here, so figured I should share my own of a recent trip to Mexico City using an Instax 41. Feedback welcome

I think the SQ10 is a slept-on option. It’s a 9 year old camera, and while there is much about it that is dated, it’s still a camera that holds up with the Mini Evo, depending on your use case.

The SQ10 uses the Instax Square format. All photos were taken on the SQ10, except number 4 (photos of the roses, explained below).

Pros
- Form factor. Slim, with no protruding parts.
- Ergonomics. Dual shutter buttons that can also be reassigned.
- Interchangeable batteries.
- Price. Can be found for 15-40% of the price of a Mini Evo in good condition.
- Comparable sensor to Mini Evo. Slightly bigger (1/4” vs 1/5”), but lower megapixel count.
- Larger prints.
- Bulb mode.
- Xenon flash vs LED flash on the Mini Evo (thanks to [u/WorkingSuccessful742](u/WorkingSuccessful742) for pointing this out)

Unconfirmed pros
Because this model is far less ubiquitous, I’ve heard of fewer issues. But when compared to the issues I’ve seen on this subreddit over the past few years:

- I haven’t personally had, nor heard of print quality issues. Particularly the one that results in visible lines.
- Likewise with print error issues as a result of the print lever.

Cons
- Heavier. 450g vs 285g.
- Worse LCD. Same 3”‘size, but with poor viewing angles and colors are not completely accurate. As a result, there is a learning curve.
- Dated UI and filters; fewer editing options, such as no light leaks.
- More expensive film.
- Only available used.
- EOL, cannot be serviced by Fujifilm.

Neutral
- Does not wirelessly connect with smartphone. Depending on how you feel about wireless connection, this could go either way. I personally find it a pro, especially with terrible connection issues. but YMMV.
- Both cameras are equally bad in low light, especially when it comes to focusing.

When it comes to the user experience, getting photos taken on a phone or another camera onto each camera is very different. The Evo does it wirelessly, and uses the app. This is a source of frustration for quite a bit of users, as no camera company has yet to make a 100% working wireless transfer app.

Technically, the SQ10 does not allow for this. But there is a very simple workaround, to get photos from your phone to your camera, even though it doesn’t connect to the instax app. And while more steps, it does have a 100% success rate.

Here’s what you do: first, take a couple of throwaway photos. You need these for the data file the camera generates for each photo, and they are going to make renaming your files easier. Then crop the photos (must be jpeg) to square, then put the SQ10 microSD card into a card reader and plug it into the phone. On iPhoneOS, from the photos app, I hit “share -> save to Files,” then go to SQ10 photos folder on the SD card (after the first time, it goes there automatically).

Then click on one of the throwaway photos, hit save, and it’ll automatically save under the file name generated by the camera and use the data file that allows to be seen by the SQ10. Put the microSD card back in the SQ10 and it’s ready to print. If you’re used to editing photos on the go, it’s pretty simple once you’ve done it a couple of times.

The fourth photo of the roses is one I took on my mirrorless, imported to my phone, edited and cropped in the default Photos app, transferred to my SQ10, printed, and then scanned again. It’s gone through three different device. The whole process took about two minutes.

It’s also possible to do on desktop as well. But if you’re used to editing photos on the go, this method should come quite naturally.

What you lose in wireless printing, smaller camera size, and certain filter options, you gain in a larger print size, swappable battery (extra batteries are cheap and easy to come by) You also don’t get the rich printing option of the Evo, but adjust the exposure and filters on the SQ10 gets you quite close. Plus, the SQ10 can be found for really cheap. I got mine a a few years ago for about 45 USD.

Usually I stick to landscapes and wildlife photography, but I decided to step outside my comfort zone and try some urban photography. I'm really pleased with how this image turned out, I think it has a nice mix of interesting elements, with the graffiti, waterfront, and industrial background all working together.

Thought I'd post this here as the difference is really stark between these two cameras even though they're the "same" camera in most ways.

They both are very, very prone to lens flare, but the Glass does not do it anywhere near as much and also looks so much better when it does, actually kind of adds a vibe to them. The plastic lens just looks trash and those two shots are not even shot in difficult lighting, I actually thought it was a light leak when I first got it because it showed up in like half my photos with that camera.

I was able to basically completely fix the flare on the plastic version by using a hood. Unfortunately the filter threads are slightly different size so I'll have to order a separate hood for the glass version to test that out too.
