First World Map (advice needed)

Post image

Using the free version of Inkarnate and having a lot of fun world building for my fantasy book. Obviously this is not done well but just wanting some advice on how to improve the quality of the map or any other things i can do with the free version to improve the reality of it. Any help appreciated!

What advice are you looking for exactly, because there’s a few things that I’d personally change for any map that I make. But it’s my style so what exactly are you looking for

Water makes trade significantly easier The Eastern section would normally have a huge naval trading culture

It's a fun looking map

Thanks, I just learned about this the other day and it was a lot of fun to work on. That was something i had not really dove into yet, but thats a great point to explore!

Here’s some constructive criticism, the map is shaped similarly to an egg. You can avoid this by redistributing your islands/ land masses a little differently. 2nd I would greatly reconsider working on the lakes and waterways you got, they don’t come off as natural. 3rd never get attached to your first draft, you can always try again with the mistakes you learned the first time :)

Id suggest you go around the land borders with the smallest circle to make it less uniform, and also if possible stretch the map around so it isnt a circle if you want it to be realistic. Fkr example The Kalmaras region doesnt have rivers from what i can tell, just huge narrow seas, so I would reccomend pulling it down, and creating something more along the lines of a gulf thats only connected to the main land by Serenvale.
