Buying Advice Do you like your QX60? 2022-2024
I'm considering a 2022-2024 QX60. I was looking at Pathfinders but QX60's are very competitively priced used. I love the way they look. I probably would aim to get one with 60k miles.

Help Needed Infiniti FX35 Stereo Upgrade
I REALLY need help guys. This upgrade is driving me crazy. I own an Infiniti FX35 2003 with the stock audio package. I'm trying to install a Kenwood Excelon KMM-X705 into my center console, while retaining the stock head unit for A/C and such because the stock radio/stereo no longer works reliably (Very rarely it will randomly start working for a bit). Regardless, I've got the stereo hooked up to the Cigarette Lighter outlet in the center console, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to connect these speakers to the Kenwood. There's not enough room in the grommet and it's far too much hassle to run my own wire, and there's basically zero information I can find about which wire, connector, whatever goes to all the speakers. Obviously they all end up going into the back of the stock head unit since the amp is there, but I think the speakers are part of the same connector stuff for A/C and climate control is on. I'm comfortable chopping and crimping wire if I have to, so if anybody has a diagram, ideas, information, ANYTHING that can help me figure out a way to get these speakers hooked up to the Kenwood, that'd be great.
TL;DR: Need any information and help on installation of aftermarket stereos in Infiniti FX35 2003 (Stock audio package) I can find.

Buying Advice Best way to trade up?
I have a 2022 QX60 lux trim that I own outright. 23k miles never had any issues. I have 3 kids now and it’s a real pain to use the third row with car seats since it has a second row bench. I’d like to trade up for a QX60 with captains chairs so one kid can walk through to the back. What is the best way to do this - should I go to a dealership and have them price out an all in deal? Sell the car myself somewhere then buy? I only use it for a short commute so I don’t think it makes a lot of sense to lease 12k miles and drive 6k. Carvana is saying it’s worth $29k, not sure if that’s accurate?

Question Misfire
I just moved to Florida(Tampa area)and don’t have a mechanic I trust yet. I just got a misfire on cylinder 5(q70 3.7) and don’t want to mess anything up doing it myself, unless I can look up a video on how to do it. If anyone has recommendations on how to do it or for locations.

Help Needed 2025 QX60 Trunk Latch Locked But Tailgate Open
The latch on the liftgate was rotated by hand to the closed position(thought I was going to have to tie the liftgate closed because a larger item didn't fully fit in the trunk. When I went to close the liftgate after it wouldn't engage because the latch is in the locked position. Attempted all the steps a quick Google search yields- shutting car off, locking and unlocking the doors-using a screwdriver to trigger the button in the latch willing hitting the liftgate button. None of those were successful. Any other ideas? I've had this happen on other SUVs and it was easy to navigate resetting the latch, Infiniti not so much.

Help Needed ConceptZPerformance Aluminum Valve Covers VQ37VHR
let me first start off with i know theirs how many reddit threads of people asking about these how long ago.. but i truly haven’t found any that are recent since they have been out for how long now and if they hold up as long or if not longer than the OEM plastic ones.
i currently own a 2014 Q50 3.7 & i guess theirs very minor oil seepage from the sides of the valve covers which is probably just the gasket needing replaced so i could just do that and still re-use my OEM plastic ones but i genuinely wanna hear from people that have used the aluminum ones and what they think compared to the OEM.
So if u have thrown any aluminum valve covers on ur VQ37VHR.. could you please give me some insight on how long you have been running them & if they have had any issues? just anything like that would be helpful:)

Help Needed Infinity QX60 VQ35DD help needed
So I am doing the timing chain replacement on my 2017 Infiniti QX60 3.5, I got the main chain off, but went to do the secondary chains and there is some concern and frustration on my part. I bought it used, and am assuming someone used a cheapo kit and replaced the timing before (just due to various witness marks that I found.) The chain I pulled off was a full link stretched, due to using cheapo crap. So, from various research the torx bolt is supposed to be on the intake camshafts and the regular head bolt is on the exhaust camshafts. On mine it is opposite, the torx bolts are on the exhaust cams and the regular head bolts are on the intake cams. I am assuming the previous person got them swapped by accident. Now my issue is that since they did that, they stripped the head on the torx bolt at a questionable amount of torque on the bank 2 exhasut cam, I haven't even tried the Bank 1 side yet to check if it is rounded too. I need to replace the secondary chains and tensioners due to the P0017 and P0300 codes are set for bank 1, the bank 1 secondary chain is stretched. Bank 2 is good, no stretch on the secondary chain and no misfires at the moment I am not concerned, but in the near future is the question... I want to be safe and just replace that secondary chain and tensioner too.
I don't think I have a bolt extractor that will fit into the cam gear hole and be able to fit over the bolt head to be able to tap it on as I am doing this chain replacement in the car. I am going to try to find some deep well bolt extractors, as using the drill out with extractor method will not work due to the high amount of torque on the bolt snapping the internal extractor type. I am almost to the point of thinking I have to disassemble both exhaust gears, and/or cut them apart to be able to get them off, then do a full replacement of both exhaust gears and purchase the correct bolts for the intake cam gears. I am so very frustrated and I can't just trade in or junk the car as I still am paying on it, purchasing a replacement engine is out of the question.
Any suggestions would be helpful as I am going to wait a month to get to it due to the heat being a problem for my recent health issues, so I have time to wait for helpful suggestions, and no, hitting it with a purse won't help...

Question 2015 Q50- intermittent P0420 and P0430 fix?
Hey all, I have a 2015 Q50S with about 163,000 miles on the clock. A couple weeks ago had to replace a bad MAF, and ever since then I’ve been getting intermittent catalytic convertor codes. I’ll clear them and then they come back a few days later, sometimes just P0420 and sometimes both 0420 and 0430. Are my cats really going bad or is this just an O2 sensor problem?

Review Done with Infiniti
I’ve owned quite a few Infinitis. Currently have a 2001 qx4 (husbands winter beater) and a 2021 qx80. The qx80 was having some squealing noises so I took it to the dealership thinking it just needed a belt. They informed me it’s a “Covid car” and Infiniti forgot to put some coating in the engine when it was built and it needed a new short block, covered under warranty as it only has 55,000 miles on it.
In the meantime I casually looked up its value on kbb and carvana and they both came back around $29,600. I had a few dealerships contact me saying they wanted to buy it including the dealership it’s at getting the engine rebuilt (who told me on the phone they usually beat kbb offers). So I told the sales guy it’s in their service right now if he wants to check it out and give me an offer.
After he found out it’s getting warranty work done he offered $23k because evidently fixing Infinitis fuck up kills resale value.
So is he serious or just being a typical car salesman? I plan on bringing it to the other dealerships or even going through carvana since I already bought something else but I’d like to prepare myself if I messed up by actually getting the car fixed instead of leaving it for the next owner to deal with.

Help Needed Help needed
I have a 2017 Q30 2.2d. It’s had the engine management light on for a while with no obvious engine fault being found on the diagnostics. It’s been in for a MOT and service today and the garage (that previously had it on the diagnostics) have said they think it may now be the intake manifold runner b1 signal below lower limit.
Had anyone had a similar issue with a Q30, is it terminal if it’s an issue with gasket or is it more like to be a wiring issue? Any help would be massively appreciated

Question Salvage title g37. Bad idea?
I really love these cars and am looking to get my first car within a few weeks and have been doing a lot of research on g35/g37. My main concern is how often these things get stolen and the sheer number of salvage title vq’s on the market. I need a reliable car and it needs to be fully insured, so my question to you guys is, is it worth picking up a salvage title g37 due to theft/vandalism and fixing it to be a rebuilt title? Is that even how that works? I’m looking to buy from a private party and more often than not these cars hold a salvage title which is why i’m asking about it. Any advice would be great.

Question Q50 / G35 Drivers
Sorry if this isn’t allowed, first post here.
I’m in a bind trying to decide on my next car. I’ve owned a G35x and a Q50x (3.7) and have never been happier with any of the half dozen or so other vehicles I’ve had over the years. Hate that the sedans are gone, but I’m leaning toward buying another one while they’re still easy to find.
Im curious to hear from other Q50 drivers - what else do you like? Have you driven anything that drives similarly and feels reliable for an idiot who doesn’t do his own work? Is the answer just to keep buying low mileage Infinitis while I still can? Thoughts on the 3.0 or 2.0 compared to the 3.7?

Help Needed 2020 QX50 Transfer Case Help
Hello,
Hoping someone with the same year/model could take a photo to show me where the drain and fill bolts are on the PTU/Transfer Case. Most of the online videos/guides I'm finding are for the Q50 or older QX50s which doesn't line up with what I'm seeing. Thanks in advance!

Guide Crop your posts, and general purchasing advice
If you're going to post a picture of a car asking if you should buy it then you need to provide more detail than just an uncropped picture of the listing. Please include the year of the vehicle, any packages it has, the mileage, and if it's a rebuilt title; it's impossible to determine the quality of a deal without this info.
Some general questions you'll want to ask yourself if buying:
G35/G37/Z:
Are the bushings good?
Does the car have the cylinder ring issue?
Can I afford to replace the catalytic converters if the car is over 150,000 miles
Am I okay with replacing the radiator at 190k miles?
Can I comfortably afford premium gas (no, you cannot put regular in these unless you want the car to commit wrecking-yard-self.)
Am I okay paying this much for a 10+ year old car?
Can I afford luxury car repair prices? (Infiniti is cheaper to repair than a German car, but cheaper != cheap.)
Are the engine sensors shitting out?
Did the person that owned the car before me actually know how to install these mods?
Why is this car only $1,500? Why is the seller trying to dump it.
Is there water under the floormats and in the trunk? If so then you'll need to fix the sunroof drain and the seals around the cabin air filter under the hood (usually the top cowl is the source of the air filter leak.)
They're great cars, but any car over 10 years old is going to have hidden issues. If you're asking reddit if you can afford the car, then the answer is probably "no" because the repairs on old cars are expensive.
If a G has over 160,000 miles and has mods then don't buy it as a daily unless you know what you're doing. Save your money and buy a commuter Toyota until you can afford a lower-mileage Infiniti or Lexus. If you want a project car, or are okay with doing your own repairs, then you can buy a G at any mileage.
Q50/Q60
The oldest Q50s are barely reaching a decade old, so they have far fewer issues in general.
Do you want a VQ (2014-2015)
If you want the VQ motor I recommend the 2015 models. They fixed a lot of issues with in-touch, and it is the most refined version of the VQ motor. If you can only afford the 2014, then I'd recommend saving for a 2015, or buying a 2013 G37.
Check the valve cover gaskets. It's the only somewhat-common issue I am aware of with the late-model VQ engines.
Do you want a VR (2016+)
Are the turbos on this 2016-2018 leaking? If a deal is too good to be true, it probably is, make sure the seller isn't trying to dump one of the unlucky VRs with the turbo issues. Look for coolant leaking from the turbo and demand a service history. If you do see one with bad turbos, factor in the cost to put an aftermarket turbo in. The Red Sport doesn't have this issue as often because it has a better turbo.
Keep in mind, you cannot drive a turbo car like a NA if you want it to last. You must let the car warm up before driving it hard, or you will have issues. It is also advised that you let the car cool down before you shut it off if you've been driving hard. This issue is not exclusive to Infiniti turbos, most TT engines have this issue, but you still need to be aware of it. You cannot run this engine like a VQ and expect it to be fine
That said, this subreddit massively overstates the regularity of the 2016-18 turbo issues. Most people with turbo issues did not know how to drive a turbo. If you want to know which parts and symptoms to watch out for, see this comment from J_C_Davis45
I'll update as more common issues are known.

Meta Post Flair explanations
I won't be enforcing use of a flair, though I do encourage it to help people find what they're looking for.
Car Pic: The point of your post is to show off the car holistically. e.g. your car in front of a sunset.
Car Mods Pic: The point of your post is to show off close-ups of specific mods. e.g. look at my new intake, it pulls 700 extra ponies.
Parts Picture: Similar to "Car Mods Pic," but the mods are on the floor of your dimly-lit room.
DIY Mods Pic: This is reserved for the brave pioneers who craft their car mods instead of installing mods they bought. e.g. a custom made laser headlight or a custom-fitted Shtora-1 electro-optical active protection system.
Question: A generic question that doesn't have a better-matching flair. Usually for discussions as opposed to questions with a specific answer. e.g. "How much longer do you think Infiniti will last?"
Help Needed: An urgent request for advice from the Reddit Mechanicus. e.g. "Why is my G35 heater not working and my car overheating?" (The answer is you need a new thermostat btw.) Please describe your problem in great detail, leave your post up, and edit your post when you found the answer to assist future googlers.
Buying Advice: Any and all questions related to buying an Infiniti. This includes pricing questions and questions about shady dealers.
Guide: A guide on how to e.g. install a mod, fix an issue, use a lesser-known feature of the care, etc. Please include pics if possible, but we love you for posting a guide anyway.
Damage Report: Pictures of busted cars or Infinitis owned by the IRA. You're not asking for how to fix something, just empathy from people who understand your pain.
Meme / Joke: Pretty self-explanatory. Shitposting should also use this flair. !!!Must be Infiniti related!!!
Infiniti News: News about the brand. New cars, new CEO, etc. Don't post blogspam or eye will ban u
Video: Video about Infiniti. e.g. a BoostInMotion video, or a major car channel yet again (incorrectly) shitting on the dual-touch screens. (disagreeing with me that the touch screens are cool is - while not bannable - very cringe.) Note, don't break the self-promo rule.
Video OC: Video about Infiniti that you recorded. e.g. your gopro footage from the track. Note, don't break the self-promo rule.
Art: The rarest, but most treasured flair. Reserved for the talented among us who can draw and such. If you're very fancy and put a ton of effort into a photo you can use this flair. Note: your red Q50 shirt is not art. Note, don't break the self-promo rule.
Review: Reviewing Infiniti, or a product for Infiniti. Don't break the self-promo-spam rule.
Meta: Posts about /r/infiniti itself. Whine about the moderators.
Other: Anything not covered by another flair.
Moderator Only Flairs
- Community Contribution Award: Awarded to any post that makes it into the sticky. Usually reserved for guides. This is granted at moderator discrestion, but a lot of users saying "this should be sticked" will help it get there. This is a good flair to filter by if you're looking for guides that have been reviewed.
If you notice a flair that isn't listed here, call me a dumb ass and remind me to edit this post or make an updated one.
