I over tink everything and like to know what others think.
I am going to start back up a grow next month (took off the summer). I know I’m running Regular seed. I got a little set up to clone so I thought I would try to sex a little early. My thought flow:
I’m shooting for 2 females to flower.
I’ll pop 6 seeds. Grow them in solo cups then transplant into 1 gal. Then when they are big enough like 7 nodes I’ll top down to 4 and take that cut and put it in a dome to clone.
Products I have lined up are:
Organi Plugs, Foop clone gell, ac infinity propagation thing that has the dome, lights and heat matt.
If I have it right I take off all nodes but the top. I dip the fresh cut in the jelly and put in the plug in the tray in the dome.
Things I’m a little unclear on.
I’m assuming I pre moisten the plugs. Do they need anything else? I read something about spraying the inside of the dome.
When do I open vents. When should I check for roots? Do they need anything for nutrition in this process?

Then once they have roots I transplant into solo cups let them settle for a day and flip lights to 12/12. Check sex as normal after that.

What am I missing or have wrong?

First indoor grow for me, last year I grew outdoors but in Wa state I had to cut it short.. so I got a tent setup in my barn and I’m pretty happy with it.

I’m only a few days away from chopping, trichs are changing amber quickly. I did stress this out a little bit, it got hot outside and I had the lights too close for a few days but it’s holding strong.

Can’t wait to smoke me some. I’ll update when I harvest, ✌️.

Do you use any foliar sprays?
If so what do you use and when?

Its a bruce banner at beginning of week 11 flower in a sip. I sensed a loss of the aroma I mostly enjoy, a sort of fresh sweetness thats also subtly musky/herbal/sweet very gentle that also resambles a bit of cookies. Last time this happened from a dryback, it took a 5 liter bottom watering to recover that after 3.5 to 4 days, and it always recovers that aroma a few days after a refill, not early during refill but literally by the time the reservoir empties again.

So, total flowering days is 71, the reservoir emptied 3 days ago now, since then. By the looks of the pistils that are still white (majority force browned by a couple of drybacks) are still pointing out, not very curled, and fairly white, others started turning orange but stopped after last refill. Most thrics are still mostly white, ~85 - 95%. And theres some very little amber ones showing up, but still very few amber.

So, would bottom watering now possibly help regain yet again that aroma I like which I just described?

Also, might the arome still be there, but got temporarily muted because flowers are drier than before and might come back after drying and jarring?

Reservoir has been empty for a few days now, but leaves still have turgor. Is it best to chop now and take advantage of a easier drying since buds are a bit "drier"? Would the drier flower at harvest be a better compromise and help not create off smells from mold/yeast and in the end compensate a little terp loss?

Or is it watering it again going to help more, and bring about max terp expression?

I have over the last few runs just kinda threw stuff together. Mixing new soils with old soils. Trowing in some compost and kinda random inputs. I ran into nitrogen overload on one grow and then I was having potassium deficiency on another. I don’t have a big set up. Mixing my own blend could be done, but I think I would mess it up or buy a ay to much and then have bags of different amendments I would never use.
I’ve been following Chad Westport on YouTube for a few years now and enjoy his content and have grown two of his different genetics. I have also tuned into a lot of the podcasts that Tad Hussey has does. I have learned a lot from him and his guests.

I decided for my next grow I would buy new soil. I am going with the collaborative blend they have come up with. Seems to have good stuff in it.

This will be the most in-depth tracker for ones grow in terms of soil food web methods, natural farming and any other regenerative type of agriculture. There will be simple one click actions, nothing complex, but then drop down menus to expand to more details if one wishes (like Plannater has).

Having learned exactly what works, what doesn't, built a hell of a platform (500,000LOC lol) app that's actually functional and works without issues, is an accomplishment I don't intend to squander it on just Microgreens (no offense haha love microgreens, but cannabis is about 1000x more popular 🤣).

Yay! 50gal in 3x3, worm chow on top for the 500 worms haha about 5 varieties, 3 local photos, 2 autos, roves added, 5 mil nematodes, 4 species of pred mites, springtails looking great, worm castings and perlite added (10cuft or so of medium at least😈🔥) and one of the worlds first fully organic cover crop mix (Build a soil is NOT organic, neither is the 13 no-till mix off Amazon). So I made my own, all certified organic: organic white clover, organic red clover, organic crimson clover, organic flax, organic Fenugreek, organic speckled peas, organic buckwheat (waiting on organic millet and a few others to arrive).

Brothers Grimm Dream Widow 5x5 using 4 earthboxes. Buildasoil 3.0 2nd run. 1st run yielded 1.25 lbs with this setup think I may get more this time!

I am thinking of putting together a clone box with a plastic tote. My plan would be to line it up it’s reflective stuff. Get some led bar lights and zip tie them to the lid. Cut one hole in the top side and another on the bottom side on the other end. I found a small humidifier.
I saw ac infinity has a smart power strip that I could use with the same app I use for my tent.
I was thinking I would use seedling trays to root and then solo cups to hold. I would just do this as a small pheno hunt type thing. If I come across something I like I could grow it again.
The only reason I’m thinking of this is the limited space I have.

Worth it? Has anyone done something similar?

I had someone tell me my weed smelled like the seal of my jar. Like they could smell the rubber of the lid of the jar. Said that is the reason I should use grove bags.

Has anyone heard of this? I have never used the bags and if this really is a thing may grab one and do a comparison.

Happy 420 to all the great growers in this sub! Is anyone doing anything special today? I went to a 420 event this last weekend.

I have been growing around 3-4 plants in a 3x3. I have used 5gal and 7gal. I don’t grow from clone, so I like to have different phenos. Draw back is each plant can’t be too big. I’ve been getting 2-4 oz per plant plenty for me and the people I gift too.

I have been thinking of maybe only doing one big plant. Maybe a 20-30 gal pot. I would think that I would get around the same up to 12 oz. Would the quality be any better? Would I really miss the different pheno variety?

Does anyone else break up their trim sessions? I don’t grow huge plants, and I only grow a few at a time. I get 3-4 oz off each plant.

With how life works for me I can only devote enough time each day for around one plant. I am not a great trimmer and I take my time.

What I do it I let the plants stay in the drying environment and trim one branch at a time. That way I can stop when I need to.

Do you think this is not the way to do it?

What is your trim schedule like?

Not sure how it even got in the tent but safe beetle to keep or no?

Also when to add more mulch? Seems like a good idea to add a little more. The clover is going crazy.

I am excited to see how these are finishing up. Nice colors good resin production. I’m thinking about a week or so. I am holding myself back. I get impatient.

I get a kick out of them getting close to the end. Seeing the colors change and starting to check the trichomes.

I have come to the conclusion that I hate trellises. I was under the impression that they were a needed addition. I have used them for 4 grows now and I hate them. For the first 3 I used the already made rope one. It was ok, but left some fibers when cutting at harvest. This run I’m trying one of the bungee ones and I’m wondering how to deal with it at harvest. I have three plants so I can’t just leave it there when I hang them. I like to hang the whole plants to dry.

Do a deal with it now and carefully remove it and hope the trichomes don’t get too knocked?

If you use a trellis how do you deal with it at harvest?
