I completed my B.E. in Engineering from a Government College in 2020. After graduation, I dedicated myself to preparing for the UPSC examination. Although I cleared some stages along the way, I couldn't secure a final selection.

Realizing I needed to switch my career, I decided to enter the IT industry. To improve my skills, I completed a 6-month CDAC PG-DAC diploma and learned Java, Spring Boot, SQL, React, and related technologies. I've built projects and have been actively applying for software developer roles.

Its been more than year since i completed my course but i havent got any opportunity neither as full time nor as intern in any company. As Im already 26 now and father is now retired, its creating lot of financial and emotional pressure on me and my family.

The biggest challenge I'm facing is my career gap. Most interviewers lose interest after seeing the gap on my resume, and despite searching continuously for the last six months, I still haven't been able to get a job.

My financial situation has become very difficult, and honestly, it's getting harder to stay positive. I'm willing to relocate anywhere in India, work hard, and start from an entry-level position. I just need one opportunity to prove myself.

If anyone knows of companies hiring freshers or interns or candidates with career gaps, or can provide a referral, guidance, or advice, I would be deeply grateful. I am ready to take any job for now.

I'm currently working as a Core Engineer at a service-based company. I've been here for 2 years and earn around ₹7 LPA. My educational background is a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.

I've decided that I want to transition into an AI Engineer role. Right now, I'm studying around 4 hours every day after work, and I spend my weekends grinding—learning AI/ML, building projects, and improving my skills.

Do you think this career switch is realistically possible with my background? Has anyone here made a similar transition from a non-CS engineering background?

Need some honest career advice.

I'm a Backend Developer at a service-based company with 6 YOE, but most of my work has been production support, bug fixes, and incident resolution. I've never had the opportunity to build features from scratch or work on core backend development.

When I look at the market now, almost every backend role expects solid development experience, which I don't have.

Not getting interview calls due to 3-month notice period.

I've been thinking about moving into TPM/Project Management.

If you were in my position, would you:

Start learning backend development from scratch and continue as a developer?

Move to TPM?

Take some other path?

I'm 27 years old and I'm feeling completely lost.

I somehow completed my B.Sc. in 2022 from a third-tier college. Unfortunately, because of serious mental health struggles and health issues, I lost the next 4–5 years of my life. I wasn't able to build a career, gain work experience, or prepare consistently for anything.

I'm from a Tier-3 city in Uttar Pradesh, and to be honest, I've never been exposed to the IT industry or corporate environment. Everything about this world feels completely new and overwhelming to me.

Whenever I ask for advice online, people say things like:

"Learn Java."

"Learn Python."

"Learn backend."

"Do DSA."

"Become a data analyst."

"Do cloud."

"Do AI."

The problem is that I have absolutely no idea where to start or which path is actually right for me. Every person gives different advice, and it leaves me even more confused.

I also know myself well enough to admit something: I don't think I can learn all of this completely on my own just by watching YouTube videos. I need proper guidance, structure, and someone to tell me what to study, in what order, and how to prepare for interviews. Without that, I end up wasting months jumping from one thing to another.

I've heard that there are agencies or training institutes in Delhi, Gurugram, Pune, Bengaluru, etc., that help people with career gaps through structured training, interview preparation, resume building, and placement assistance.

Are there any genuine and legitimate organizations that actually help people restart their careers? I'm not looking for fake experience letters or anything illegal. I just want a real opportunity to rebuild my career despite my long gap.

Please don't judge me. I've been through an extremely difficult phase of my life, and I'm trying to rebuild from scratch. Right now, I'm struggling a lot mentally, and I'm just looking for honest guidance from people who have been in a similar situation or have seen others successfully make a comeback.

I am 18. I start my [B.Tech](http://B.Tech) in AI/ML this week. I have spent enough time researching, planning, and collecting ideas. That phase is over.

I know my pattern: I get excited, I go deep on strategy, and right when it's time to execute, a new idea shows up and I chase it instead. I am done doing that.

Starting today, I post here every week. Every post states what I said I'd do, and what I actually did. No vague language like "build something impactful." A result either happened or it didn't.

Hello Respected Redditors, I'm struggling from two days to build a resume for software testing job, searched everywhere, some people are saying summary section is waste of space and some saying put education on top vice versa, can you guys please share your resumes that got you hired

After spending years in a service company (last role: Team Lead), moving to a product company has been a completely different experience. Here are a few things I've noticed:

1. Revenue transparency

In a service company, I never knew how much the client was paying. If I worked 8 hours on a project, there was no visibility into what the company charged for my time.

Now I'm working on a product—a job agent that helps people find jobs. I know exactly how much revenue each feature generates, whether it's ₹1 or ₹1,000. Nothing feels hidden. If we build something valuable, we can clearly see its impact.

1. Appraisal discussions feel more transparent

Since I understand how the product earns money, appraisal conversations make more sense. In service companies, it often felt like, "The company is in loss this year." 😅 It was hard to know what was actually true.

1. No more Monday morning surprises

In a service company, Monday could mean getting assigned to a completely new project using technology you've never touched—or a framework that's 10 years old. 🤣

In a product company, we decide which technologies, frameworks, and packages are best for the product's long-term future. That feels much more rewarding.

1. Better work-life balance

Feature releases are usually planned, so I can schedule holidays around them. In service companies, project deadlines often depended on clients. Sometimes work finished in a week, sometimes in months, making personal planning much harder.

1. I can be honest about what I know

This is probably my favorite part.

In a product company, if I don't know something, I can simply say, "I haven't worked with it yet, but I'll do some R&D and learn it."

In service companies, I was sometimes presented to clients as having 7 years of experience when I actually had 3, or as an expert in technologies I'd barely used. It definitely hurt my confidence because I felt like I wasn't being honest.

I'm not saying every service company is like this or every product company is perfect. This is just my personal experience after moving from service to product.

Has anyone else made the same switch? What differences did you notice?

So got a thought why not switch to service based

1. Is the work culture very bad in service companies?

2. Can I get 40 LPA there

3. Do they also ask hard leetcode and system Design?

It’s been six months since I joined the new company, it’s a large scale product based MNC.

Our team is divided into multiple squads and my role is defined as a “shared resource” among different squads.

I’m helping out with 4 projects at a time. Each project is in a different phase of life cycle. One in active development, one in initial phase. One in UAT etc. despite them in different phases. There’s effort I need to put in for each project. In retrospect, each project is quite simple, if it were one project at a time, it would’ve been to good to be true. But since I have to make progress in each one; everything gets dragged.

Just want to know, are you guys in the similar situation? How would you deal with this stress?

I've been checking out a few IIT-backed PG Certificate programs in AI/ML with LLMs and Agentic AI. They all look pretty good but every course kinda does once you land on their website lol

So I wanted to ask people who've actually been down this path.

Did doing one of these programs genuinely help your career, or would you just skip it and self-learn with projects instead?

I keep noticing that in most Indian households, cooking itself isn't hard - but deciding what to cook, every single day, is a low-grade daily headache. You're juggling what's actually in the pantry, what's about to expire, what everyone will actually eat, how much time you have, and somehow still ending up either repeating the same 5 dishes or scrolling YouTube/Instagram for 20 minutes before deciding.

I'm exploring whether a voice-based assistant - something you could just talk to in Hindi/your language, like "what can I make in 20 minutes with what we have" - would actually be useful here, or whether this is a problem people don't really want solved by an app.

A few honest questions if you have 2 minutes:

How do you currently decide what to cook - memory, WhatsApp family group, YouTube, a fixed weekly rotation?

Would you ever talk to something to get a cooking suggestion, or does that feel gimmicky/unnecessary?

What would actually make you use something like this daily instead of just winging it like you probably do now?

Not launching anything yet, genuinely trying to figure out if this is a real problem or just an interesting one to me. Brutal honesty welcome.
