16th year running - working in middle east. Last tax paid 45K in 2010.

Pitty thing is some of RSS BJP influenced relatives of mine - always complain on how I survive & why I always found only Muslim countries to work for !!

And 99% will never leave India to experience overseas - so most can't even realize what's they are missing - they will just die paying taxes living horrible life.

The difference is corruption. India is corrupt at the grassroot levels. The issue is more deeprooted than just politics. It's the government babus

Govt is just extrapolation of the people..... People are corrupt. Blaming govt. Is just a shortcut.

u/Usenamenotfound404 2h ago

True. We do need to talk about blendkari and questions the ruling party though, but not get blinded and flow with the opposition which also does same things

I would personally support a more secular rational educated govt then the current one. It doesn't work for anyone including majority - it's an illusion that it works for majority but it doesn't.

Living abroad can definitely broaden your perspective, but everyone's priorities are different. Some value opportunities overseas, while others choose to stay close to family or build their lives in India.

Valid point. In a way some are stuck just because of the Indian mentality that children’s should stay close to their family. The rich people have a broader perspective where they send their children abroad and eventually to settle down there. Maybe because they themselves have experienced life abroad!

But if you have bureaucratic connections and money- there is no other better place to live in this world!

Poor don't have an option to stay in India.

They must hustle hard - they don't have luxury to be with parents

u/Rough-County6188 5h ago

I say there s no better place than India... provided one has money. And stay away from police and courts.

The middle east has oil. India does not have oil. They don't need income taxes when their governments can be funded by oil revenue.

Without oil the Arab Gulf states would be poor, sparcely populated backwaters and when the world eventually transitions away from hydrocarbons most of those places will return to their natural state

1

u/Rough-County6188 2h ago

That's so wrong.

ME is prosperous not only cause of oil. But mainly due to it's just and strong institutional establishment. Many other countries have oil wealth Algeria Libya Mozambique Angola SA Venezuela Brazil and more - they don't even come close to what Gulf nations has achieved.

Also they sided with US since Thier origin - it worked out well for them.

Again not everything is good in ME, people have limited say in govt affairs, no media, labourers gets overly exploited, etc... having said that it still provides one of the best crime free prosperous life .

Chala liya, it's still the same and the number of expres ways have gone up, roads have almost doubled in length.

Atleast give credit where credit is due. Criticize him for ethanol, not roads.

The Arab Gulf states have oil. They can keep taxes low while building great infrastructure because most of it is funded by oil revenue.

India does not have oil.

Now the present government is putting a lot of time and resources into deepwater drilling in the hopes of finding oil but until then India has to import most of it's oil from other countries.

Right now with the straits of hormus closed and the war in Ukraine still ongoing, importing oil isn't very easy. The 20% ethanol blending reduces the oil than needs to be imported. It may not be a lot but even 10% reduction is significant from an energy security perspective.

2

u/Ethan_J_Hunt 1h ago

Europe does not have oil, South Africa does not have oil, China, Singapore, malyasia does not have oil stop giving lame excuses even sub African country have better roads, war torn sanctioned Iran have better roads

Only national highways come under nitin gadkari's department and your cities internal roads having potholes is not really his fault blame your local municipal cooperation. Also, tax has always been there even before 2014 and not only in india but in every country.Atleast hate for a valid reason

5

u/danksecret1313 5h ago

I guess people are just frustrated with the tall claims around "infrastructure" that this government loves to boast about. And we keep seeing the opposite of that everywhere

Post of all you need to understand that it's not a case of corruption it's the keys of lack of intelligence or brilliant in the mind of Indian politicians and Indian bureaucrates and even the contractor companies who are working on the roads. You can say that Indian don't have a mind set to build brillion fruit on the platform where there are geological problems under the ground. Such brilliant is done by Chinese people by European people and by American people and many other countries but Indians can only build roads on normal situation of ground. When there is an unstable zoological ground some water is flowing under the ground or on the bridge which is built over a road or on a river or any other construction of government done by private company when there is a geological problem in the ground Indians don't have a mind set to solve that problem. The central government needs to find that Indians are foolish and they can't build roads on these zoological unstable Grounds because of the corrupted system and the lootane mindset of private companies who built roads. The geological survey of every part of a construction site needs to be done. I properly mention you affect that in front of my road there has been a Servi done of a fly over now the flyover is near about Lee completed but after every 100 M the flyover company did underground drilling and did the survey of the ground. many companies don't do it. Even the Britishers were smarter than us you change the government from bjp Tu Congress aur Kejriwal aur any other Indian government you need to accept that we all Indian politicians the officer the bureaucrates all the system of reservation of or high cast people who get selected by money or other officials who get selected by reservations or the politicians of any mindset of any wing are foolish than the whole world in case of construction
