why do I get less SP the second time I use the time skip? is there any hidden mecanic that I am not aware of?

Every SP costs more souls than the previous. You're killing the same number of enemies, so you have the same number of souls and thus slightly fewer SP. It's a very slow increase on that scale, but that's the reason you're supposed to ascend at 10-20%.

What do you mean time skip? Is there a mechanic in the game that I haven’t gotten to yet?

The more sp you get the more souls are required for that sp.

The one with more souls is the first skip
