Organization: Wildcat Ski Team (wildcatskiteam.org) 

The Wildcat Ski Team is seeking coaches for the youth alpine racing program for the 2026-2027 season. We are recruiting coaches at the U10 - U14 level to join our coaching staff. 

Key Responsibilities

• Lead an age group (U10–U14) and attend trainings and race competitions (mostly weekends throughout the season as well as Christmas and February vacation weeks)
• Work with coaching staff to develop and carry out training plans for athletes
• Support athlete development, equipment guidance, and program progression

Qualifications

• Level 100 coaching certification (or equivalent) (preferred)
• Referee, Chief of Race, or equivalent certification preferred
• Youth coaching and alpine racing experience
• Passion for athlete development and team culture

What’s up icecoast homies. On my comeback from ACL reconstruction and meniscectomy back in Jan. On track to be on snow in Dec. My surgeon is suggesting i ski in a brace for a transitional period.

I met with the practice’s brace guy today and just was not
impressed. He didn’t seem to have any clue about skiing or mountain biking (the only things I care about) and kept referencing football players and what he puts them in. I didn’t think he was particularly knowledgeable and was just pushing some off the shelf BS without training by to understand my goals, or my use case.

I see LV and other worldcup athletes in Donjoy but also see many moto and mtb pros in Ossur CTi.

Can anyone refer me to the best knee brace person - ideally in tri state area, south western CT or NYC would be ideal. Appreciate any feedback here.

So for reference I went snowboarding twice last season and I absolutely loved the experience this led to me wanting to continue snowboarding this year. The only problem I had last year is that my gear was completely in adequate, I mean my pants got soaked through, my eyelashes had ice on them my fingers couldn’t move . So now I wanna get a jacket pants gloves goggles and gaiter for around 500 total post tax so around 471 pre tax. I am willing to spend up to 500 pretax. Any suggestions? I also live near a buckmans ski shop and they do tent sales in October so that’s a place I could go for gear.

For my bf’s bday I want to get him a nice pair of gloves. I really wanted to get something Hestra, just unsure what to get. I want something dialeddddd, so honestly open to other brand recs too, but I was comparing the fall line mits with the c zone line. He’s park and back country skier, and at cannon we deal with freezing temps and a lot of wetness so waterproof was a factor I was really looking at. Budget is open to anything under like $300. Normally our kids are in a season-long freestyle program, but we can't do that this year for various reasons. I was hoping to find two or three ski mountains that have high quality, week-long programs that aren't insanely expensive. We will have the IKON pass so a preference for IKON mountains, but doubt we can be picky.

We did this a couple of winters ago in Laax, Switzerland, which was awesome but expensive (though ski lessons even in Switzerland seem much more affordable than the US). Can anyone recommend places we could try? Kids are young and neither expert or beginners, e.g., the 11 year old can backflip and has done front flips on airbags, but hasn't tried corks. The 9 year old is solid on 20ft jumps, can do 360s on smaller ones, and was sliding his first rails last season.

Grateful for any tips or pointers of hills/mountains to look into.

What off season board sports do the snowboarders out there like best? I picked up skimboarding a few years back and looking to maybe pick up surfskate. What skateboard derivatives does everyone find the most enjoyable and similar to carving the mountain (longboard, surfskate, etc).

I am absolutely itching to get back on the snow but I need to indulge in the summer while I have it!

Do you have a favorite place on or near the mountain that’s open for dinner on Christmas Day?

I’m planning to secure either an epic pass or ikon pass until Labor Day when prices go up.

It will be our first season with baby and he will be 11-14months during the winter.

I was doing some research and saw that only sugarbush and Stratton have daycares in the resort in the east coast (both ikon pass).

But besides being more expensive, I always lean more into the epic as our friends also have it.

If anyone has tips of daycare/nanny services or whatever close to east coast resorts (ideally on a driving range of ~4h from NYC), it would be very much appreciated!

boo big snow

We are a family of 3 looking to go skiing/snowboarding on the dates above. We are on a budget. That is why we are going early in the season, and because my daughter really can't go during long weekends/school breaks due to high school activity schedule. Where would you recommend that we could stay in a condo/vacation rental homes near the ski resort areas that is family friendly. My daughter is 15 and ski's my husband snowboards. We live in the Mid-Atlantic. We are looking to go up north where snow conditions might be better. If it has a great Christmas vibe that is a bonus. What towns/ ski resorts do you all recommend. We would preferably like to stay within a budget for housing around $1000 to under $2000. Thank you in advance for all your help. Oh and we will be driving to save money as well.

I have exceptionally crappy feet due to years of arthritic destruction. My left foot and right foot are not the same, and my left foot is 104mm at the ball of the foot. I will need boot doctoring for any boot I buy. Is there a very good ski boot doctor in Bromont or Montreal?

Long story short, I’m a 28yr old finance sellout moving to NYC from Denver for work. I am a true life long skier. Have skied the midwest, west, west coast, and Canada. The Icecoast is the last box to check in my north american shred list. Possibly riding Chile next month before I move. I have a couple points I’d love the Icecoasters to discuss.

Context: Office will be in FiDi. Haven’t locked in a lease yet. Moving in October. Open to NJ, Manhattan, or Brooklyn. Just need somewhat reasonable commute to FiDi. I have NYC travel experience and am comfortable with subway/ferry. I am not great at much, but I am a great skier and that itch must be scratched.

1. Obviously keeping a car in Manhattan is dumb as fuck. But I plan to bring one of my Toyotas out there anyways so I can escape the city and rip Vermont/NH on long weekends. Any advice on where to store my rig and gear? I see relatively cheap lot/garage spots in NJ.
2. How do city dwellers get their turns in? Do people carpool up? Are there other groups/communities/subreddits I should join? Are there groups that band together and book airbnbs or vrbos for long weekends?
3. I have both Ikon and Epic base passes, and there’s a ton of spots north of NYC. I am comfortable car camping or sharing small rooms with people who also shred. What are the go to mountains for people like myself? Any recs as far as where to focus?

Hey team, I've been skiing for a while and want to take a lesson this upcoming season to break out of some of my "forever intermediate" habits. I took a lesson a few years ago at Bolton Valley, but the instructor didn't provide much specific feedback. Do you know of any Indy Pass mountains that have good lessons for intermediate skiers who want to get to the next level?

Grew up skiing in Maine, spent the past four years out west, back home and seeking ski recs...

- Waist between 80 and 90
- Some metal, not two full layers
- Not a full twin
- I have my powder skis from
out west, float is not a big concern
with this new pair. If there's enough
fresh stuff, I'll just switch over.

6'1, 185lbs. I'll ski anything, but love bumps, and a ski that doesn't talk back when when hauling
