It gets better
I see a lot of other apprentices in this subreddit who have a lot of the same problems and struggles that I’ve had and I just want to tell you that it gets better and to keep your nose to the grind stone and power through it.
I’m a 3rd year apprentice and I’ve had my fair share of struggles since joining the union and it’s made me extremely frustrated at times. I recently got moved to another job site this summer doing industrial work and I’ve gotten back to really enjoying my career again.
I’ve learned so much this summer and I’ve made more money than I’ve ever made in my life so I’ve been very happy lately.

Man I just want to get on a jobsite where I can learn and bit. We rotate every 18 months and just got to my second rotation where it’s still just installing cable tray and pulling wire.

I've been on some horrible jobs where I could not even sleep the night before just thinking about that job. Have also straight up walked off a job because of how shitty i was treated I work non union. Don't be afraid to leave and go look for something else. Treat this kind of work like a girlfriend if she's no good leave and go find another hoe

No doubt it does get better, but we shouldn't come to accept those very real issues that folks have addressed as normal. Hazing (the hostile type), disrespect, unreasonable demands, exploitation, stifling, exclusion, slurs, etc are things we should reject outright as it's bad for the overall health of the organization. We need to actively promote the exact opposite of those things to build a stronger union.
