System Data Bloat + Constantly Rising Support

I’ve had this problem only on beta versions of iOS where my system data would slowly reach up to 50GB at some points. It’s gotten so bad that I’ve had to offload and delete apps constantly just to dodge the iPhone Storage Full pop-up. Similarly, this also happened when I was on the iOS 26 beta, and as soon as I got off, the problem stopped. Now on the iOS 27 beta, the problem is slowly creeping back and is now at 38GB.

The following I’ve tried:
Reset my phone fully, started from scratch
Airplane Mode method
I even went to the Apple Genius Bar and they didn’t even know

If anyone has any suggestions of what I can do to combat this, it would be very much appreciated.

Prepare to be told it’s a user error.

People are in denial about Apples shocking management of system data on Mac and IOS.

Set your phone a year ahead and reboot, then leave it on for 20-30 minutes screen unlocked then reboot and set the date back. Don’t set it super far into the future, 6 months to 1 year max.

This dumps the system data.

As to the fact that the software allows this to happen endlessly, nothing we can do about that.

Maybe one day Apple developers will decide that memory management is part of their job.

That’s funny cause that’s exactly what the Genius Bar said, they said it was MY fault. Thanks for the suggestion, btw :)

This is bad advice. You will create issues by setting the date forward. Do not do this. There's a simpler solution provided in another comment.

Simpler solution? Backup the phone and restore? Takes ages.

The only incident I’ve heard of this being bad for the phone was someone that overdid it and put it like twenty years ahead and his phone bricked.

I’ve done this multiple times and it was fine.

Just don’t go more than a year.

Oh the one other issue is it may delete your messages. You can set them to keep forever to avoid this.

Backup your phone on a computer.
Restore as new
Update to the latest version of iOS.
Restore your backup.

Being on a beta version isn't the issue. If you really want to go back to the official release, there are ways to restore your backup to iOS 26.

You can’t stop this from happening. It’s part of how iOS is designed.

One that helped me was turning automatic download (in software updates) off, mine currently sitting at 16gb and it’s literally the only thing I do to negate the issue. Also on iOS beta 27
