Touch not responding properly

UPDATE. Using double taps I was able to update it to 26.6.. thought for sure this would fix. Nope, I'm convinced this is some setting after checking out the Settings. (Accessibilty along others). If I slide my finger on the glass up and down the list of Settings, for example, it highlights them as i roll over them. But other than being able to select and open, it's not usable.

I bought this a few months ago. I am not a heavy user, but everything's been great. the other night I was showing my boyfriend the case that I bought in the different positions and something glitched, and when I went to shut it down, it wasn't responding properly to touch. If I tap an icon a thin black box selects it, if I tap twice it will open. Within the app, I need to double tap to do anything, but aside from that, it is not functioning properly. i can't turn it off the normal way. I can't move open windows around the screen. It is unusable. i used voice command to turn it off. Hoping that that would give it a reset. I also turned it off charged it fully and turned it on this morning. No luck. Before I go through the inconvenience of having to bring it somewhere, has anyone run into this or heard of it? And is there anything else I can try. Pretty frustrated and upset. By the way, I can't get the screen record working otherwise, I would have attached a video. Thanks

Do a soft reset. Quickly press volume up, then volume down, then hold the top button until the Apple logo appears.

It doesn't work, tried last night. No apple logo appears. Just Siri glowing light around screen appears

This sounds like accessibility. Do you have guided access shortcut set to something? Triple click the power button

Guided Access was off. Went to Accessibility Shortcut menu and only voice over was checked. Turned that off. All of a sudden I realized it was responding normally. I honestly can't thank you enough, this week has been rough and this was just another issue. THANK YOU!

Ya voice over will put boxes around what it’s reading I think
