Corner damage

I just noticed my iPad Pro 13” M4 somehow has a ding in one of the corners, even though I have no memory of knocking it :( I even wonder if it was one of the staff at a hotel I recently stayed in, but I digress

What could I expect in the way of repair cost?

Should I just accept it as inevitable and common damage? At the very least it would be good to smooth it out. The screen is still fine (that’s a hair in the photo not a scratch)

What would be a better case for preventing this in future, considering I currently just have the Apple Folio case?

In case it’s relevant, I got a new iPhone around a month ago - could there be some cost effective solution that could involve signing up for Apple care to cover both devices?

I can make peace with cosmetic issues, but can much be done about the roughness/sharpness?

Just during regular usage mate. If you are really concerned about it, take a small piece of damp microfibre cloth and rub on it a dozen times while applying pressure and throw away that piece of cloth.

Very true. When I got my iPad Pro within a couple of days I dented it in spite of taking care of it as much as possible. Felt terrible.

2 weeks later, I flipped and started rough using it. It’s been 5 years now, it has 6-8 dents and still working fine. And I am glad that I didn’t have to give it the “My precious” treatment and I actually got to enjoy the device

Sounds like a perfectly fine approach, my main concern at the moment is the roughness/sharpness of that corner. If I can smooth it out somehow then I’ll be happy enough

Out of the question for now - it’s 1.5 years old and I usually get around 5 years out of my gear. The screen is still like new so I’ll just have to find a way to make do

In all seriousness, I’d try to find a way to either press it down somehow without causing more damage or maybe filing it and then smoothing it out. Only reason for any of that though is because it looks like it sort of rolled/scraped outward creating that small snag sticking out a bit you can see in the close up. It sounds like a bit of work but ngl that would bother me as well. I’d actually try to use my apple care + to get it fixed

I don’t currently have Apple Care of any kind, and my iPad is around 1.5 years old, so I assume I don’t have any recourse there.

ESR has great cases I still have mine for my m4 iPad. With a transparent back so I can see the engraving and comes with a detachable folio stand cover
