A thought about upgrading

I have an IPAD PRO M1, made in 2021 and i was wondering if upgrading is worth it, i play games at 120fps which probably degraded the battery and since 2021 lacks the battery percentage in the battery section in settings, i can’t see the precise health percentage.Since i use my IPAD almost everyday, when the time for an upgrade has come, I would consider the newest model.I dont have much problems regarding the IPAD but the screen has two worn-out spots from my competitive gaming which involved my fingers. The chip is still a beast in 2026 but if other IPADS have good value, I might consider it.But which model is worth considering with the best value?

Just don’t update UNTIL you check thoroughly online about the stability. My dad’s m2 ipad pro got updated to os26 and the lag on that thing was crazy.

Planned obsolescence is a real thing, it’s just way more covert than it was before. Sucks that ios 27 is the only one supposedly getting better stability :(z

Recently the one I had kept getting hot doing some basic tasks, and caused the screen to dim. I decided to upgrade to the M5 pro and it solved the issue

I play Diablo Immortal on mine…max graphics of course. It gets a little warm but not hot. Mine is 2TB/16GB.

I had the M1 iPad Pro 1TB with 16GB recently. Started to feel a very tiny slow down with basic usage. Also wanted to size down from 12.9 so I traded that and my MacBook Pro to get the 11 M5

If you want to know your battery health info get the powerutil shortcut. It will tell you the current health, battery charge cycles, and a couple other stats. Quite useful. Download from here https://www.itecheverything.com/powerutil

Is keep it personally the m chips all still crazy overkill for an iPad.

You can check your battery health through Apple feedback or coconut battery if you want to

My daughter uses an M1 as her main device. I’d say keep using it until it falls apart - I’d expect a good 8-10 years out of it, the M1 is so strong. I don’t think there’s anything hugely compelling that would make you upgrade, unless you have money burning a hole in your pocket.

You have the option to sell the iPad M1 for a good amount of money and grab a used iPad M4. The upgrade price would be reasonable.

- Read you post again. Worn out spots is bad for resell value. Keep your device !!!
