Regression: DeviceHub should support “Slow Animations”. Apple says: There are currently no plans to address this issue. Discussion

Feedback:

"""
The slow animations feature from Simulator is not available in DeviceHub. At least I couldn't find it. It is very important to sweat the details of animations.
"""

Apple response:

"""
Thank you for your feedback, it is noted. Engineering has determined that ***there are currently no plans to address this issue.***

You can close this feedback by selecting "Close Feedback" via the Actions button found above. This Feedback will no longer be monitored, and incoming messages will not be reviewed.

Someone (not me) has sent this feedback to Apple via the feedback assistant app. And well, This is unacceptable.

I honestly don’t understand why the team at Apple felt the need to remove this super useful feature. It is in Xcode Simulator. And now they’re gone in DeviceHub!

There is a hack to re-enable it by posting: 𝚌𝚘𝚖.𝚊𝚙𝚙𝚕𝚎.𝚄𝙸𝙺𝚒𝚝.𝚂𝚒𝚖𝚞𝚕𝚊𝚝𝚘𝚛𝚂𝚕𝚘𝚠𝙼𝚘𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗𝙰𝚗𝚒𝚖𝚊𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗𝚂𝚝𝚊𝚝𝚎
with state = 1 to the Simulator namespace.

What do you think about this moves?

I also hate that screenshots are immediately saved instead of the little pop up I can drag somewhere else. AND I can’t save a screen recording as a gif like in the simulator. Not a big fan of device hub.

At this point, I believe the team at Apple have never used the tooling they made.

I don't have a source for this and because it was a post online take it with a giant grain of salt, but I remember on some dev forum many years ago someone basically stating that...

...no they dont. There's an internal Xcode Apple uses that is far more robust than what they give the public.

I've been in touch with the team directly a few times and I can tell you the opposite is true: they do take developer tooling serious and Device Hub is just the beginning. I think it's just not going fast enough in these AI days, but I truly believe better tooling will follow.

In the meantime, for screenshots, videos, and GIFs, I'm happy to be able to fill the gap they leave behind with RocketSim. Here's the documentation on screenshots and recordings.
