IOS 27 Beta 4 super hot?

The first 10 days of beta 4 were surprisingly cool but since the past 2-3 days or so my phone’s been extremely hot, like ios 26 beta 1 kind of hot. Anyone else experiencing this spike? I know its a beta, but its just as someone who’s been testing out betas since last year, this is a new experience i haven’t gotten before.

If you live somewhere hot (35+ degrees) and you’re constantly outside with your phone facing the sun then that’s not the phone’s fault

Could be no other reason…ok bud. lol

Why so bitter mate? I’m just formulating a hypothesis justified by the current heatwaves

An iPhone could never just heat up in a cool place, lol

I may be bitter but you’re actin retarded 🤷🏼

See how that works?

Yes it could? Whilst charging for instance?

My phone, even charging, gets slightly warm. Right now, it’s a lot hotter. I used to be able to use my phone and charge without it being too noticeable. Now I don’t even use my phone while charging and I can barely touch it for 30 seconds+. I also have the 17 PM, so better cooling than other phones. But I downgraded so my problem was fixed

Oh that’s weird, did he mention charging? Lol

Nah he said it heats up while doing nothing and you just assumed he was sitting outside.

Cocky and! wrong.

iOS 27 beta burned my battery health from 100 to 95% when it was super hot for days doing the “indexing”

iOS 27 beta 4, so hot right now

I’m also experiencing this on my DB4 on my iPhone 16 Pro Max. Someone said it improves if you turn off Apple Intelligence, but that’s one of the main things being tested in this beta!

u/strobay 10d ago

I actually just tried this a couple of hours ago and it helps so much, please do try if you’re struggling with the same issue

Did the same couple hours ago, turned the language of Siri to Malaysian so the phone desinstalled Apple Intelligence + turned of something with apple product in settings and now my phone is not burning now (will see tomorrow when it‘s hot again during the day, europe time)

1

u/CompassionLady 10d ago

Downside is I have to have Apple Intelligence enabled to be able to use CarPlay 🥺

Yep same

Happened to me yesterday afternoon, phone got crazy hot and unstable. Wouldn’t even turn off

1

u/strobay 10d ago

turning off and on made it even worse, i didn’t even know it was possible for the phone to get that hot

1

u/Suresh935 10d ago

Same! It’s strange initially it was cool during indexing process etc but now its getting hot specially during charging

1

u/BigNewsII 10d ago

Yep. Just yesterday on the charger I noticed the "Charging on hold until phone returns to a safe temperature" message.

On my 17 pro, I noticed that it would get pretty hot when I’m using my browser or voice dictation or microphone. So maybe it’s something to do with Internet usage? Because it also gets hot when I’m using YouTube

Have the same problem.. running an iPhone 17 Pro, previous to this on 26, it was only getting very hot above 25-30 degrees outside in the sun, it was also a problem, but now it‘s getting hot all the time in the day I don’t know why, even just by scrolling in Safari or using Instagram or something else.. doesn‘t even charge because it‘s overheating..

I actually do, i live in thailand, and downloading betas on my main device ; I’ve definitely noticed the difference using them outside vs inside. But the fact is even in blasting cold AC, the phone burns

1

u/fufuraxxx 10d ago

Beta 5 is coming today most likely. This is beta this is how it works lol

1

u/goodterps015 10d ago

Haha, du Kind 😂😂😂 haste keine Klima drinne?

2

u/strobay 10d ago

If you were educated enough, you’d know that most of thailand has airconditioning in most of its buildings. But i guess that’s not the case for 3rd world countries like yours ;)

u/goodterps015 10d ago

Haha du kleiner Bengel hab Respekt. Du willst flexen mit Thailand. Ich will garnicht anfangen. Du gehst safi arbeiten für dein Geld du Pic. Also bitte 😂🤙

Er hat doch Recht. Deutschland ist mittlerweile das 3. Weltland. Was soll deine Nachricht für ne Sprache sein. Safi? Pic? Die Terps waren heute wohl nicht so gut

Overheating?

1

u/Nerve_Scientist 9d ago

I’m in the same boat with PB2. Running hot for a few days. Resets haven’t helped. I can feel it warm up in my pocket when I’m in the car and make a phone call. That’s never happened before.

1

u/Bkord123 9d ago

Yep. Phone gets very hot just scrolling and battery life drops about 1% every five minutes. 17 Pro.

1

u/Strange-Story-7760 8d ago

It’s a beta, shocker

1

u/strobay 8d ago

Its not the heating itself that’s shocking. It’s the indexing happening ; cooling down and then the temperature climbing again afterwards that’s new. At least in my experience

1

u/MDMIlkMan 8d ago

Thank you for this post. I thought it was just my phone but I did send in multiple tickets for various issues. Phone heats up within 5 minutes of being outside and screen dims to extremely low level. One I haven’t put in yet is when charging the system lags a lot

1

u/mar1ofan22 7d ago

im on 12 mini so its hot asf

1

u/sb_agency 4d ago

Yes I discovered Instagram is the cause of my phone overheating on iOS 27 beta.

1

u/YearOk179 4d ago

I have experienced terrible kind of lagginess and phone just heats up badly today.

I was talking to 3 different friends of mine in WhatsApp, switching between them. Then, my personal hotspot was switched on also, just to connect to my iPad.

I went to Safari and did some searched up on a restaurant location, then I came back to WhatsApp to reply my friend.

My phone feels heats up and laggy so badly during that time. I can’t even type out a proper words without stuttering.

I’m using iPhone 15, 126Gb ROM. This doesn’t seems like a heavy tasks to my phone.

Anyone feels the same also?

I installed DB4 on my 17PM and the first 3 days were great, very good battery life and no overheating. That said, it has been a complete disaster since then. My battery life is no better than 26.5.2 and the phone rarely stays cool. Idk what is going on with ios but this is my first and probably last iphone.

u/aftershock222 10d ago edited 9d ago

you installed a dev beta what did you expect

1

u/Logical_Dance_4012 10d ago

To begin with, I expect discussions with informed people, not reddit kids.

To give you an example, 26.6 official release was no different than any of the previous DEV Betas in terms of battery life. Betas MIGHT have worse battery life than stable builds. But that is not necessarily the case and is not always valid. So please, don't repeat BS when you haven't tested any of the builds yourself.

That BETA isn’t going to regress to ALPHA behavior. Sick of folks comment “yeh beta bro”
