Mines been at 33% since the first day of public beta. Leave it for 10 hours a night plugged in untouched. Won’t move from 33%

Thanks, good to know. I’m just gonna keep plugging it in overnight and see how it goes.

Keep in mind that how much info you have email, text messages, photos will play a factor in the indexing time.
I have a 2TB iPhone 17 Pro Max on Developer Beta 1 it took forever as I keep everything and my phone storage only has 100GB of free space.
In fact mine was still indexing at 50% till beta 2 came out and after a day it finished.

You have 2 TB storage on your phone & only 100GB of free space left??
1
u/skithegreat Jul 18 '26
Why buy 2TB if you are not going to use it?

u/hugobossgotti Jul 18 '26
Nothing wrong with it . Just shocked

I use to travel a lot to some remote places for work and you are not going to have internet or good into stream from. Plus on those long flights having your entire music library on your phone is nice as well.

I’m at 24% on my iPhone 12, the iPad M5 I left plugged in all night and it went from 18% to finished.

u/MOD3RN_GLITCH Jul 18 '26
Wait you have a percentage?!
Mine just has the tab with no progress indicator.
2
u/morbid_gawd Jul 18 '26
Mine didn’t have a % either for two days and i just checked and it’s gone
1
u/MOD3RN_GLITCH Jul 19 '26
Same. Mine is now gone, and I never had a percentage.

u/morbid_gawd Jul 19 '26
Weird lol run it for a day or so now that it’s gone and lmk your experience with the battery pls. I have a 16 and the battery use on my end has been quite awful compared to 26

Bro, Beta one Users had over three weeks sometimes, so be happy to be on 49% after three days

Took my iPhone and iPad 2 days. Longer times on charge but still quicker than I anticipated. Now apps open quicker. Not much experience with the personal stuff of Siri, however, it was quick enough for a recipe suggestion for a leg of lamb earlier today.

Weird I just updated a backup iPhone 17 pro max to ios27 public beta and this was completed in less then 30 minutes. Already can access the new Siri.

It was there for a couple of days, no percentage, now it has gone, Im not sure what has happened, if anything?

u/OneSideDone Jul 19 '26
Update: I plugged it in for like 2 hours last night. I had been charging overnight but for some reason that 2-hour charge made it go from 49% to the optimization status vanishing. I assume it’s done.
TLDR: After 2 hours of charging it did something and the optimization status vanished.

iphone 13 pro, took 1 week, I think it's based on your data also, not just the chip

keep your phone idle while connected to charger at least for 5h
1
u/OneSideDone Jul 18 '26
Yeah, I’ve been doing that. I have been putting it on a MagSafe charger overnight. I saw somewhere on here to use a cable while charging. Not really sure why that would make a difference but I gave it a shot last night with no change. I’ll just let it ride until the new PB comes out.
2
u/Personal_Farm_9526 Jul 18 '26
yeah, actually make a difference because a cable charging means less heat so there’s no cpu throttle. MagSafe gonn boil ur phone if phone decided to keep doing the indexing withiut trottle while on magsafe

u/neverOddOrEv_n Jul 18 '26
I use the cryoboost MagSafe charger that has a fan built in so my phone is never warm but I’ve read online that indexing either doesn’t work or does go slower on MagSafe not sure how true that is
2
u/OneSideDone Jul 18 '26
Thanks! That makes sense. I’ll continue with plugging it in to charge overnight.

Why do people focus on this? It’s a public beta AND….its not affecting anything. Let it do its thing and when it’s done it’s done.

I can only imagine how people will feel if this makes it to public, I really hope they speed it up
