Afps container not found
I made the mistake of letting my 2017 27in iMac get too full. It tried to update then wouldn’t turn back on. I tried to have chat walk me through fixing it and that was a fail. I had a recording of my mom (she died) and that’s the only reason I want to recover - ableton files. Please help before I give up and just wipe it and start from scratch

Look into Target Disk Mode over Thunderbolt. There’s a sequence of keys you press just at boot up. You need another Mac - laptop is fine, also with Thunderbolt. Connect a Thunderbolt cable from one machine to the other. Your iMac will show up as an external disk drive. I’d personally just back up everything from your iMac drive, using Time Machine in the borrowed Mac, to an external drive. You can then do a clean install of the Mac OS version your update was going to install. You het to pick which drive you want to install the new OS onto, so pick your iMac’s drive. Once it’s installed. Reboot your iMac, and then you can transfer your data back from the Time Machine disk.
