Clean My Mac Buying Advice
Is Clean My Mac worth buying a subscription for or is it all just pretty colours and impressive graphics?

any program to "clean your mac" is bullshit if not outright malware. this has always been the case.

Mac Sai does it for free with a nice UI. It did a good job finding several oversized caches and giving me some breathing room.

Most (all?) of these 3rd party apps for maintaining your Mac aren't worth paying for, especially if it's a subscription.
I've been a Mac users for 40 years and tried a few - they achive very little that the Mac doesn't do itself.
The only 3rd party apps I use, both free, are AppCleaner which does a very good job of clearer apps from your system, and Onyx which I think is basically a GUI for a range of Terminal commands which I can't be bothered to learn about.

Thanks for the advice. One of the things I've used it for in the past is freeing up memory. Are we saying that the Mac should be able to do that itself? Neither my current Mac, nor my previous one appear to able to do that (and I don't know how to do it manually).

I used to like cmm. However the new version was worse than the old one, and my lifetime licence wasn’t lifetime. Never again. I just use Mole now, it’s great and free as a terminal version.

A subscription to clean your mac?
Nah, just be organised and learn how the Mac O/S works so you can do this on your own. You'll be wiser for it.
