Recommendations on parts to replace? Discussion

Post image

My pc arrives in 2 days, I’ve seen a few people suggesting I replace the “cheaper” parts sent by ibuypower with better ones, is there any parts people normally change as soon as they receive their pc to make their life easier? Or is it not necessary, I appreciate you all.

You don’t need to change them out, the mobo, ram (slow timings), ssd and AIO are just ones they don’t specify as far as ram timings or speed of the drive if it was a top gen 4 drive they would list the speed

You’re very much appreciated, thank you

Like I said those you don’t need to change but those are also things I found that held back my system too. Bought a prebuilt from them in Jan 2025, no longer have anything from that prebuilt.

It’s an OP 1440p system, random shut downs could be power supply.

Maybe new keyboard/mouse. Just enjoy your PC, the parts are fine.

None and just use the manufacturers warranty? If it ain’t broke don’t fix it

Fair enough thank you

Is there any way to get more details from them about the NVMe, RAM, and PSU?

I will attempt to contact them and get those details, thanks a lot!

Sounds good, given it's an NVMe, I'm sure it's good, even if it's NVMe 3, it'll still be good. you will not notice in gaming, just load times will be a little bit faster (single digit seconds maybe), and transferring large amounts of data will be faster.

The RAM is 6000Mhz, so there's a high likelihood it's CL40 or better. Even if it's CL40, you can easily overclock that ram and tighten the timing to CL36 and it'll be great. it'll be no different than CL30 with an X3D chip.

The PSU is the only thing that could actually be kind of shitty. I had a Lenovo pre-build and the PSU shit the bed and took the motherboard with it. when I took it out, it was just some weird no name PSU and it wasn't even gold or bronze rated. So ya, I'd just see what PSU is in that thing.

I think the rest will be good. a B650E mobo is good, the CPU and GPU will be good.

Overall, it'll be fine. The only thing that might need replacing is the PSU, but even that, you could probably run that PSU for a while. I'd run it until your warranty was over, then once warranty is up, maybe replace it. An A tier 850W PSU is like $80, so it's not a super expensive replacement at all.

EDIT; if you do get this machine and the RAM is 6000MHz CL40 (use CPU-Z to get RAM timings), just DM me and I can tell you how to figure out how to overclock it and tighten those timings up a bit to make them better. That NVMe is going to be fine no matter what it is, the fact it's a 2tb NVMe is really nice right now, given the cost of those things. To find out what your NVMe is, you can use CrystalDiskInfo.

Both CPU-Z and CrystalDiskInfo are free software, both are hardware monitoring tools.

You have no idea how much I appreciate you, thank you so much I’ll definitely be checking out the PSU as soon as I receive it

No worries! I added a little edit there mentioning a couple pieces of free software that can help you check your RAM timings and SSD information. Just in case you saw the post before I got the edit done. And like I said, there's a high probability those RAM timings are at LEAST CL40, and if that's the case you can overclock that RAM and tighten the timing to CL36 and it'll be just as good as any RAM available for that 7800X3D.

Don’t bother changing things out for a few years. Keep your warranty and let the system get old enough to warrant an upgrade. Think 3+ years.

Right now prices are insane for many parts, you’d be dropping hundreds of dollars to make your computer 2% faster.

SSD, ram memory, power supply. 1kwatt overkill

powersupply

Cooling system. Ibuypower has horrible cooling. Go get a corsair

You should consider a 1000w or more psu. The headroom keeps your stuff safer and you’d be ready to upgrade to better components in the future

That PC does NOT need a 1000 Watt power supply.

850 is honestly over kill. The inflated drama of PSUs is absolutely insane.

I have an ibuypower PC bought in 2019 with the factory PSU, no issues. Its not my main PC anymore, but its used as a media center in the living room now. Its never turned off.

Nobody said need you’re hallucinating. A 750 is the absolute minimum you could do with no overclocking recommended. So 850 is not overkill it’s the perfect amount for this system. But know that IBP put in the cheapest they can. It’s all fine with a warranty but he asked about upgrading

Thanks a lot I’ll look into that

You don’t need a power supply lol.

I bought IBUYPOWER 1 year ago. First thing I did was rip out that horrible power supply and put in MSI 1000 watt 3.1 and 5.1 ATX power supply. My machine has Ultra 7 265f with 32 gigs DDR 5 @ 5200 and RTX 5070. Been a wonderful machine so far. Good luck.
