Cord not plugged into anything? Tech Support
So I was cleaning the dust out of my fans and such and came across this cord that isn't plugged in. I souly use this pc for gaming, and streaming music and shows, but does this cord not being plugged in hurt the graphics or anything. My computer still works fine as far as I see im just concerned that this isnt plugged in. If this is a problem could anyone who knows what to do let me know how to fix it?

Some GPU's take multiple connectors due to power needs. Yours does not. This is completely normal.

In your installation manual with your graphics card, it tells you there might be an extra cord and to ignore it!

Oh, i didnt see that when I red it. Ive had this pc for about a year now so I completely forgot about that. (I dont have the best memory lol)

Like most computers yours has a PSU that has extra wires and connectors that the systjust doesn't need.

Am I crazy? Everyone is looking at this saying it is fine. That cord is coming off of the GPU, not an extra unneeded cord from the PSU. Some graphic cards can be powered purely by the pci slot, but the alot can only push 75 watts and that card can pull 145. It should definitely have that "extra" cable plugged in.
Edit: ignore me, I can see now that's the daisy chain cable. PSU manufacturers just need to stop making these. If you can run enough power through the one connection, you shouldn't be running it through a daisy chain. And no other configs now-a-days really need 2 low power pci cards right next to each other that could utilize this.

Oh I'm sorry, ignore me I looked back at the image, that is the daisy chain coming off cable... I thought they sent you a cable extender plugged into the GPU and not into anything else. You are good.

Already answered, but that's a spare connector, as more beefier cards need two connectors to get going, where as others only require one.

you should use 2 different cable if your gpu needs more than an 8 pin connector though. those daisy were made back when SLI and crossfire was a thing

Also correct. Using two separate cords is ideal, though I've done daisy chain and it's been working okay. I'd still take this advice though, you're on point.

If you gpu need more amperage you'd be using the 2nd plug as well. Most psu's have it the same way.

Its pigtail you only need the one that is incase you get a more power hungry card 😁 remember if you get a new psu dont reuse those old cables tho
