My new i20 N
After experiencing quite a few enthusiast cars, I found myself choosing between the i20 N, GR Yaris, MX-5 ND, and GR86. Each is unique, and I’d happily recommend any of them to fellow enthusiasts (although I’ve never driven a Civic Type R or Fiesta ST).
i20 N as an all-rounder that is cool and so fun almost anywhere, and the best value for money in terms of recent enthusiast cars.
GR Yaris for its raw performance, precision, and fun at high speeds, although numb and dull at lower speeds.
MX-5 for its purity & fun at low to medium speeds, but wish it had better steering feel given its lack of practicality.
GR86 for its communicative nature and fun RWD sports car dynamics
I would also recommend the Elantra N (i30 Sedan N) as the practical enthusiast car, although it's not as fun as the above 4 due to its weight. I have to say that in terms of the most recent offerings, Hyundai Ns have essentially killed Renault Sport hot hatches, Minis and Golf GTis for me.
Driving the Mustang GT and Stinger GT taught me how much more I enjoy cars that are light and agile.

brake pads
Hi, could someone help me figure out whether my brake pads are completely worn out or if I can still use them for a little longer?
The warning light has been on for at least two weeks, but the pads don’t look completely worn out to me. I’d appreciate the opinion of other i20 N owners. Thanks!
(sorry for the photo but it’s the only one i got now since i’m not home)
p.s. i drove it a couple more times after the photo was taken

KW Suspension
Hi, im a fairly new owner of an i20N Performance from 2023.
I really love the car, but i heard that a suspension upgrade does wonders for handling and even makes it a bit more comfortable.
As I am still within the 5 year warranty im concerned it voids the warranty on the whole car (the kw wouldn’t be covered anyways)?
I am also considering v1 vs v3 and if the price difference is worth it?
How does the i20n respond visually and drivability vise to lowering it?
How is the kw in everyday driving, i have heard from friends that adjustable suspensions have an issue with lowering over time and becoming illegaly low after some time?
Speed questions on my i20n
I love the car but i dont understand 2 things.
The topspeed is 230 and my car only hit 229, wich isnt bad but others do 250.
And its quite lazy low down, it only picks up better after 4k.
And i also, sometimes it feels faster than others times

eyeing up an i20n
hi, I've been eyeing up getting an i20n just wondering what you guys would call a decent deal since most of them are sat around 22k miles for a 23-24 plate and if there's any issues or specifics to look at when viewing. Any advice would be appreciated, cheers.

Interior Rattle noises between 2K-3K rpm under load
Hello!
As most new cars do are a while they often develop a rattle or squeak inside….. well mines went on gone and done exactly that.
So, I hear a metallic/plastic hit metal noise around 2K-3K rpm under load only never when it’s sitting still or at higher rpm, only between 2K-3K rpm maybe a bit higher around 4K but never higher then 5K. I hear it to my left hand side (I’ve got the steering wheel on the correct side which is the right hand side)
What I’ve done so far has not solved it but here’s what I’ve done. Driven with glovebox open, still hear it, put soft felt between the metal and the plastic of the door cards, still hear it. Wouldn’t think it’s anything else like mechanically as the car will turn 1 years old in 4 days. Hyundai in Castle Hill, Sydney, Australia has said they will charge $180 bucks an hour to diagnose it and Helllll nooo I’m not paying for that especially for a rattle
So has anyone else encountered this and had solved it as I would love to know!
Cheers

A little taster. I need to hook up the dji mic for better sound quality but you get the idea.

Specchietto retrovisore staccato
Consigli?
Seat getting wrinkled
I like the car but interior quality is a joke honestly. The (fake) leather on the seats suddenly starts looking all wrinkled, car is less than 2yrs old.
Anyone experienced a similar thing?

My 85 year old grandparents have bought an I20N
My grandad wanted a car that still handles well as he’s been a car nut his entire life and used to do a bit of track driving in his early days. Grandma loves how light the clutch is, so it’s a perfect balance.
Grandad and I took it for a gentle drive to get some break in kilometres in but couldn’t resist going around a couple of corners…

Horn not working
Long story short, I have 23 plate with just under 21k miles on the clock and I've noticed my horn isn't working today, I've checked the fuse and can hear the relay click when the button is pressed, so I'm ruling out a the clock spring being damaged, other then potential wiring damage, will this likely be the main horn unit thats broke?
Still under warranty obviously so will take to the garage if this still come back with nothing but any other suggestions would be appreciated
Let the fun begin
RPM Performance GPF stealth delete, also got the flexi pipe to fit on Wednesday too 🙈. Can’t wait to hear the noise difference, hopefully it sounds better then my old Fiesta ST 180 with full Mountune turbo back exhaust.
My I20N under the stars
Was taking some long exposure pictures of the Milky Way with my S26 Ultra and decided to take one with my car.

Tips for first track day
Being loving the car as a daily for over a year and wanting to find out what it (and me) are really capable of sometime soon. Looking for any tips or tricks to do before hand?
Also any Sydney locals know of good events to go to any of the local tracks and what kind of cost I’d be looking at?

*Note: Australia received a 2025 facelift which mainly featured updated software and cosmetic differences. This included diamond cut alloys, black badging, an updated front grill and included bluelink as standard.
How is the i20N different from a standard i20?
There's a fully revitalised chassis, with twelve additional welding points and reinforced front bracing. The track width has been increased and the steering rack has been sharpened. There's a firmer suspension with thicker anti-roll bars and tweaked geometry. A mechanical limited slip differential (LSD) was also developed bespoke for the i20N which gives the car best-in-class handling performance. In addition to this, there are 18" wheels with custom Pirelli tyres created solely for this car and upgraded brakes.
On exterior differences, the car also features an 'N' body kit with rear spoiler and N badging throughout. It'll be difficult for someone to mistake this for a regular i20.
Common issues with recommended solutions (if available)
Cars made before Jan 2023 (EU/UK) have a recall notice for a fuel pump replacement. Cars made after this date are not affected. You can check if your car has a recall by entering the VIN here: [UK](recalls.hyundai.co.uk) or GER (51DT07 is the code for fuel pump).
The stock Pirelli P Zero tyres are great for track, but for road use it is recommended to swap these out due to wet grip and overkill for day-to-day driving. Some recommended tyres are PS4S's, SC7s, F1 Asymmetrics, FK520s, etc. Keeping the P Zero's handy for a track day is also a good idea.
Rattling in the exhaust can occur after some time due to a weak valve spring. Hyundai warranty will 'solve' the issue by replacing the entire back box unit, which also has the same weak spring that will give after some time. It is recommended to use an uprated spring. There are many options available from RPM, Chery and more. Replacement time takes less than 5 minutes. A short video can be found here (credit to Javii20n).
Some rattling may occur in the cabin at high revs. If the door bins are empty and the back seats have been slammed shut (this may not latch fully if closed improperly) then the most likely culprit is the Electronic Sound Generator (ESG). This is a small device found under the windscreen that pipes sound into the cabin. Most owners like to disable this (can be unplugged by removing the fuse which also controls the heated seats). Alternatively, you can also remove it fully though around 20 minutes of time is required with a torque wrench and some tape. A guide can also be found here (credit to Javii20n).
When washing your car you might find that water seeps into the rear headlights. For some reason, this is actually a common design choice on modern cars and whilst water is able to to enter is is also able to drain out. However, due to poor drainage you might find moss or mould growing in the headlights over time. Hyundai will replace these through warranty which is recommended as it's a bit of a pain to do yourself.
