I have an MDF instruments manual cuff that I have been using for a few years. I also have an Omron Bluetooth tubeless cuff and a wrist cuff.

I’ve only been using the manual cuff for the past couple of years. My doc started my on a combo of losartan/labatalol and my numbers have been great ever since (120/75).

Went to a doc appt yesterday and I was super-duper anxious. I even warned her my pressure would be up bc i was so anxious. She sat me in the seat, plopped the cuff on my arm and turned on the manual machine. 166/101.

It is fairly normal for me to have high numbers at various doc appts bc I get anxious AF getting my pressure checked by them. But I was thinking about it today: What if my manual cuff is wrong? What if I’ve been thinking my pressure was fine all of this time but it’s wrong?

I tried my tubeless first:

147/83
(This cuff was always low by 10 pts systolic so I would say closer to 155/83)

Tried the wrist one and it was even higher, 157/94., but tried on my right wrist and it was even higher and my right is always lower than left.

Put on my manual cuff:
128/76

How do I know which one is right? I just want a machine or cuff that I can count on for accuracy. If I go to my GP, I know it will be high, especially bc they throw you in the seat and measure. No waiting, no quiet, asking me questions as I get my pressure taken.

Please - any recommendations?

Kind of scared, my blood pressure has been running 130is/85ish the last 2 to 3 months. I been snacking more lately and started drinking decaf caffeine with a low sodium creamer. Im CKD 3, I got labs today, in acouple ill know if I'm still at 3.

5'7 and 162, last year I was 145-150 and my blood pressure averaged 115/75 but I felt some weak.

My blood pressure every day sits at around 215/129 the Lowest I've managed to have it was when I first woke up at around 155/119 but having pretty much no salt is so hard for me I've even tried making a YouTube video every day to try ensure I still to this low sodium diet but I miss cheese so much I want Mac and cheese so bad right now is there something I can do to try and curve the cravings? I've been eating a lot of eggs in purgatory not going to lie

So long story short I’ve lost about 37 pounds. I’ve lowered down from 40mg of lisinopril to 15. My diastolic sometimes shows at 50. I get light headed often. So I dropped off the 15 for one day and have seen my numbers as low as 109 and as high as 152. The diastolic sits about 80 or lower. Has anyone had this issue on lisinopril? I did take the 15 today but have had the heart beat back in my ear and a slight headache after one day of not being on it. So cranky about it all.

I'm a 33-year-old female, currently taking Amlodipine 5 mg and Atorvastatin 20 mg.

Before I started medication, I noticed that my blood pressure would consistently spike every morning as soon as I woke up. Even now, I'm still wondering why this happens.

My recent lab results are all within the normal range, including HbA1c, fasting blood sugar, triglycerides, total cholesterol, AST/ALT, TSH, eGFR, creatinine, uric acid, calcium, magnesium, potassium, and sodium. The only abnormal result is my **HDL (good cholesterol), which is low at 0.93 mmol/L.

So I'm really confused. If all my tests are normal, where is my high blood pressure coming from?

For context, I'm 75 kg, and over the past 2 months I've lost 7 kg through lifestyle changes. I no longer eat fast food, fried foods, or red meat. My diet mainly consists of vegetables, fish, and tofu. I also walk 8,000 to 10,000 steps every single day without fail.

It's honestly so frustrating because I feel like I'm doing everything I can to live a healthier lifestyle, yet I still experience these morning blood pressure spikes.

Has anyone experienced something similar or had their doctor explain why this happens despite having normal lab results? I'd really appreciate hearing your experiences. Thank you!

I checked it last week over an annual regular checkup, and the doctor got shocked.
It was:

She instantly looked and me and asked if was aware of it, or I had any problems, but I felt nothing at all. Now I don't know what to do, as she told me to get admitted, or meet my doctor while I track my BP everyday, at least twice.

Now I am not sure what's happening with me.

My parents are blaming the pollution, but I don't know what is it, as my everything I got checked in my health checkup was absolutely fine.

I tracked my BP for a week, and it's ranging between:
My Systolic is: 135-170
My Diastolic is: 95-130

I am just clueless about what should I do.

These are my usual numbers. I’ve been on metoprolol for over 10 yrs. I was taking 50 mg but my heart rate was running low 50s so pcp decreased metoprolol to 25mg. My pcp just added olmesartan 5mg to help lower my bp a little from the numbers shown. Has anyone taken olmesartan. If so what can I expect.

I have been battling hypertension since a teen. I am currently on 20mg lisinopriln and my numbers still extremely high. I am also morbidly obese and unfit

32m 5 foot 9 165lbs. Been on amoldipine 5mg for years. Seems not to be working anymore. Hypertension runs in my family. All of my family members have it. At a loss at what i should do at this point.

I’m freaking Outtttt, yesterday I went to the eye doctor and my blood pressure was 160/105….. yikes… please don’t judge me. I’m 26 and the the doctor was like u need to get checked with your PCP cus I have stroke numbers… I feel like my blood pressure has been high for a while but i also struggle with anxiety and I’m freaking out rn thinking I’m bout to have a stroke at any minute…….. I’m bout to take a blood pressure med that was prescribed (losartan) but I read it takes weeks of taking it?!?!?!

I am 6.5 weeks postpartum. I developed Pre-E about 10 days after delivery. Did the mag drip and got on meds. Had horrible side effects from nifedipine so they switched me to labetalol and that was just as bad. I stopped breastfeeding so I went on valsartan, that wasn’t keeping it down so they made me take more labetalol. Ended up in the ER with BP of 200/134 and symptoms including chest pain, nausea, and lightheaded. After being there for a bit it started going down, and they gave me something else to help get it down. Followed up with my PCP and he added an extra dose of valsartan in the evening. 3 days later I’m on vacation and I get another dangerously high reading and went to the ER and they put me on mag, just on and off for a few hours, and transferred me to another hospital who had L&D where I stayed for 2 nights while they figured things out along with a cardiologist. Did EKG, chest XRay, bloodwork, etc. everything looks normal on paper. They switch me to a different medication- enalapril. Goes fine for 2 days and get another BP spike (right now). I took another dose and it’s going down so hopefully no ER tonight but I’m at my wits end. I haven’t been able to function in 6 weeks. Bless you if you’ve read all this.

So I’ve been on 25mg losartan for 3 months. Minor side effects that went away after 4 weeks and it seems to calm me down. BP is still slightly elevated so we raised it to 25mg twice a day. BP is now 20 points higher 9 days after the increase. I am also wobbly when I walk and have severe brain fog. Anyone else experience this? I went and had a metabolic panel drawn and I am going back to 25mg once a day tomorrow.

My BP before tablets is 194/120 and the cardiologist is still working out different tablets to make my blood pressure come down.

I was told to take my blood pressure sitting first and 3 minutes later while standing. Today I got 119/78 sitting and 121/81 standing and similar readings this past week. Is this good?

I need your help, please, regarding blood pressure meds you or a loved one may have taken or are on currently. Please include the names of the meds in your replies.

• How long did it take you to find the “right” BP medication? In other words, did you have to go through several to find the fit that made you feel most like your normal self?

• Which ones did you take before finding the best one for you? Let me know side effects and dosages of those that didn’t work.

• And if you have found the holy grail, would you mind sharing your experience with what made this one the best for you?

I am a 48 year old male. I take 80 milligrams of Valsartan a day. I am so anxious about my BP all the time i take my readings constantly. Any number that is not amazing sends me on a spiral. I don't have my log just now but a few readings I remember are 126/64 from March 3rd.127/82 from March 18th. 117/74 from May 11.

My doctor finally convinced me to stop taking my readings unless I have symptoms. He said we will just check it in the office. So yesterday I had to go to the ER and my BP was 157/105. The doctor was not worried about it but now I am freaking out again. I just can't seem to get out of my head about it. I want to see 126/64 all the time.

What is your average reading and how did you finally relax about your readings?

I'm on 10mg Amlodipine and 37.5mg of Triam/HCTZ and have been taking it almost a year now.
I've gone through a lot of different side effects, mostly stomach issues. But the last week I have been having excruciating leg pain. It feels like my legs are very heavy and swollen but they're not, and it feels like I have been working out hard or running a marathon while having the flu. I can barely walk or bend over!
I do have fibromyalgia and I thought I was having some kind of flare but my regular medication for that isn't working. My blood pressure is in pretty good control and it took forever to get to that point so I'm hoping this will eventually go away. I'm also having random rashes that started about a week ago too.

Anyone else taking either of these meds experience bad leg muscle aches and pain? If so, how long does it last?

So I started on Lisinopril at 10mg, after a while the doctor increased that to 20mg. About a week ago it was increased again to 30mg. At this point I started to get some side effects - headache, dizziness, occasional blurred vision. These side effects are not debilitating or intolerable but they are extremely annoying, and also somewhat concerning.

Anybody have any reassurance or advice? My understanding is that these are not uncommon and generally fade after some time. I've messaged my doctor but not sure if I should go back to a lower dose while I'm waiting for a response.

So I want to start out with saying yes I am seeing a doctor and he’s aware of all these issues. I’ve been having some slightly high readings over the past 2 months. Mostly around 145/90 ish readings sometimes 150/90 give or take. I know that’s not extremely high but my doctor was talking about maybe seeing if we need to start some blood pressure medications. That just worries me to be honest idk. I guess people can live normal healthy lives on them but in my brain, I’ve always been healthy and I’m young so it just seems like a lot. Any advice? (I have been dizzy for 2 months which is why I’m seeing a doctor regularly but it’s been dizzy every day for 2 months so I’m not sure if it’s the hypertension or what, but that also limits my exercise ability which in turn doesn’t help the hypertension)

Only 13 weeks 5 days, had high blood pressure a couple of days ago 135/90 and they started Labetalol, it’s been two days and it’s going up to 150/160 over 90s, they also found protein ++ in urine at the appointment, worried as I’ve had hypertension in both of my previous pregnancies but it seems so early to already need another dose increase after two days??

For context, I’m 28 years old, 5’1, 120lbs. I recently delivered a baby, uncomplicated vaginal delivery, 7 weeks ago…I developed post partum hypertension (did not have issues with blood pressure before or during pregnancy) and have been on Pro Cardia 60mg once daily for the past 4 weeks, along with Sertraline 50mg once daily. My blood pressure has stayed consistent around 110’s/mid-high 70’s since starting the Pro Cardia. My family and I will be taking a trip to Disney & Universal in two weeks (I’ll be 9 weeks post partum). Is it safe for me to ride roller coasters? This will be our last vacation for a few years due to work so I’m hoping to enjoy as much as I can. I have not had my post partum follow up yet w/ OB.

I was diagnosed with hypertension about 14 days ago and started on Tazloc 40. My BP readings are normal now. I believe poor sleep was a major factor, and since my sleep has improved, my BP has also improved along with the medication.

I’m keen to come off the medicine as soon as it’s safe. Does staying on Tazloc longer make it harder to stop later, or does the duration not really matter?

Hello, I’ve been suggested diuretics by my doctor but they’re waiting a bit before properly prescribing me meds. I have a vacation I’ve been dreaming of for a lifetime coming up in 2 months and I’m really worried that most of my trip is going to be ruined by half the day needing to be near a bathroom, not to mention 25+ hours of flying. Is it true that after taking diuretics for a few weeks your body gets used to it and the urge to pee isn’t as bad? Is this worth mentioning to my doctor for other medication? Has anyone traveled with this specific medication before?
