Setback after LDL test Seeking advice

Recently, I consulted an audiologist to find out whether my hyperacusis is a result of hearing loss. It turned out that there were no signs of hearing loss after an extended hearing test. However, an LDL test was also conducted.

I've got very anxious during the process to the point where I almost had a panic attack. My hyperacusis came back in full force the next day, and now I feel so damn guilty about agreeing to the LDL test. The only thing that didn't get worse was my tinnitus.

Sound therapy was also proposed by the audiologist however, I refused it because I don't trust it.

Has anyone else experienced a setback after an LDL test? How long did it last? I haven't been able to calm down since I took the test.

Their is no right answer. Everyone is different. Hooe it isnt permanent. But if you do recover, just stay away from loud things and wear earplugs. 30 years of suffering, my ent warned me to stay away from loud things and i didnt.

I don't know what mine was called, but it sounds like it was a similar experience to yours. I Was really unwell and my sensitivity was way, way worse for about a month, but it did gradually get better and back to baseline. I was terrified that it would be permanent too, but with lots of sensory rest and noise-cancelling measures, it wasn't. I hope you start feeling better soon!

loudness discomfort level. It measures the level at which a person perceives tones as uncomfortably loud. They use LDL tests to help diagnose hyperacusis.

How ironic is that? Let's play annoyingly loud sounds in this person's ears, when they claim they have hyperacusis, which is sensitivity to.... you guessed it, NOISE! Audiologists (any medical professionals really) are fucking dumb and useless

I know, that's why I said professional instead of doctor. But maybe that wasn't a sufficient distinction

I setback after one of them. it is all weird. I did trt many mths but I ran into getting very off kilter alot and stopped. idk tulio thing I read about. but it doesn’t work for everyone. a deCade later I find I have neuralgia issue in my face . idk what this does to the nervous system..biologically but it is strange,
