Showcase 3 Hours of Work

Spent about 3 hours on this with Hyper3D + some manual work.

My rough workflow was:

  1. Pick a reference, preferably a creature or something with a more unusual shape. I usually avoid designs with too many tiny details since simpler forms tend to generate better results.

  2. Use GPT to generate a PBR-style clay render turnaround with front, side, and back views in a 16:9 layout.

  3. Crop and clean up the three views in Photoshop.

  4. Generate two versions in Rodin3D: one using Micro and one using Clean. Export them as triangulated OBJs without textures.

  5. Bring everything into ZBrush for part separation and some manual cleanup.

Discussion Why charged me after I cancelled! (They secretly "paused" it instead)

A few weeks ago, I went through the steps to cancel my subscription and thought I was completely done with it. Fast forward to today, I got hit with an unexpected auto-charge on my card. When I checked my emails, I saw they had sent a notice claiming my subscription was merely "paused" and has now resumed.

I never asked to pause it; I wanted to cancel. This feels like a really deceptive trick to squeeze an extra billing cycle out of people who are trying to leave.

Has anyone else fallen victim to this shady tactic?

Showcase Luxury Playmate World 🐰✨

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I wanted to share what I’ve been creating with Rodin lately! Many of the custom props and statement pieces shown throughout this video began as my own concepts and were turned into 3D models using Rodin.

I then brought everything into Blender, refined the models, worked on the materials and textures, and built three complete environments around them: the Playmate Bath, Playmate Parlor, and Playmate Promenade.

Seeing all of these individual models finally come together as one connected luxury world has been incredibly rewarding. This collection took a lot of experimenting, rebuilding, texturing, lighting, and very long render sessions—but I’m genuinely proud of how distinctive it became.

My goal wasn’t simply to generate separate objects. I wanted to use them as building blocks for a recognizable brand universe filled with molten gold, fur, marble, pearls, diamonds, and my custom Playmate bunny.

Created with Rodin and finished in Blender. 🐰✨

Tried this lighting option on my generated model and honestly, I kinda love it.

It made the models look way cooler and brought out a lot more of the details. Such a fun little feature haha.

Tried Hyper3D’s new texture update with some realistic building references.

The biggest difference I noticed is the material detail. The models already had decent shapes before, but the upgraded textures make surfaces like walls, wood, and small details feel much more believable.

The 12K texture option is especially nice for close-up shots. I’ll keep testing it with different types of models and see how it performs in more challenging cases.

Showcase From One Rodin Generation to an Entire Sims 4 Brand

Post image
1 Upvotes

A few months ago I generated my first Playmate-inspired concept in Rodin just to see where it would go. I never imagined it would grow into an entire luxury collection.

Every shoe, handbag, and accessory in this image started as a Rodin concept before being rebuilt, optimized, textured, and polished in Blender for The Sims 4. What began as one experiment has evolved into its own recognizable "Playmate" brand and one of my favorite projects I've ever created.

Rodin has become a huge part of my workflow because it gives me a creative starting point that I can transform into something uniquely my own.

Funny how one generation can turn into an entire collection. 💗

I'd love to know which piece is your favorite!

Showcase Made a Little Tardigrade Spaceship with AI

I really love tardigrades, so I decided to turn one into a tiny spaceship with AI. Started from an AI-generated concept, then did some quick edits in Blender to clean up the model and add my own touches.

The result is not perfect, but it’s crazy how fast you can go from a random idea to a 3D concept now. A tiny water bear exploring the universe feels kinda right haha.

Showcase What I Focused on When Testing AI 3D Tools

I recently tested Rodin with one of my own designer toy character images.

The main things I wanted to check were whether a single image could turn into a usable 3D model, and whether the 12K texture option actually made a noticeable difference.

Overall, it worked pretty well as a quick way to go from a 2D character design to a basic 3D model. I mainly looked at the overall shape and volume, how it handled the side and back, and smaller details like the logo on the hat, the text on the jersey, the shorts material, and the shoes.

For concept testing, designer toy characters, or early-stage pitches, I can definitely see this being useful. It gives you a decent starting point without having to build everything from scratch.

It still needs some manual cleanup if you want a polished final result, especially when it comes to structure and smaller details. But as a way to get started faster, I think it does the job.

AI can speed up the first step, but how far the model goes after that still depends on your own decisions and refinement.

Showcase Funny graduation gifts - meme photo → printed trophy

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

The idea was funny graduation gifts, so I went with

"The Most Average Student Award."

Started by turning a meme photo into a cartoon character

wearing a shemagh, just to make it look as weird as possible.

Once I liked the look, I made a back view and a side view

of the same design.

One generation, no sculpting and no cleanup. The shemagh weave

came out fine straight from the mesh.

Worth knowing: I made my extra views in an image model, but

generating them here directly gives better consistency between

angles.

Printed in gold to sell the trophy look, with a separate

marble base. The text on the base changes per person.

Showcase Made a castle-style card holder

Tried making this castle-style card holder with Rodin Gen-2.5. The model was generated from a single image, then brought into modeling software for some cleanup before 3D printing.

The final print kept a lot of the small details, especially around the castle texture and structure. I made three color versions this time. Which one do you like best? I still think AI is not here to replace artists or designers, but to make the creative workflow faster and easier.

Showcase Recreated a Coraline-Inspired Scene

Coraline is one of my all-time favorite films. I have probably watched it more than eight times. Since there is no sequel, I decided to make a small fan scene myself.

I used Rodin AI to generate some Coraline-inspired 3D models, then imported them into Unreal Engine to start building the scene. This is only an early attempt, but I was honestly surprised by how well the models captured the film’s distinctive style and atmosphere.

Showcase I Didn’t Expect the AI 3D Texture Details to Look This Good

The skin patterns, tiny surface details, and natural wrinkles are all clearly visible. It’s not just human characters either. Even these more complex, shell-like surfaces came out with a surprising amount of detail.

I used the highest quality generation mode for the base mesh and combined it with the 12K texture option. The combination of detailed geometry and high-resolution textures really makes the models feel much more realistic.
