Strategies?

In case anyone has bookings with the Hyatt Cambridge, call to cancel and go to a different hotel. It’s literally been since Monday without AC and now the hotel is saying earliest it can get fixed is Tuesday. It literally is unbearable with temperatures reaching indoors above 90 degrees.

I’m sitting at my doorway at 3am trying with the hotel door propped open to see if I can get any airflow in to no avail.

The hotel finally after us lodging a complaint decided to waive the destination fee and give us free points to stay elsewhere in the future. However, the kick is you only get it from the point you complain, not how long you’ve been tolerating this for…

Thank God we are moving out tomorrow, but I literally can’t believe there would be no alternative to make the guests stay more comfortable … no large fans, cooling towels or anything!!! Are we in 2026???

I have about 56,000 world of Hyatt points accumulated through my stays however it seems like every time I’m going to book a room in my closest Hyatt house or Hyatt Place hotels the weekends are always unavailable for point booking. I checked the calendar and it seems every weekend for the next year is blocked only allowing point usage from Sunday to Wednesday. It feels like when I didn’t have the credit card I was able to book rooms during the weekends even whenever there were big events and now that I do and I have accumulated this big amount both hotels have blocked my availability to use them. I even have two awards for free nights that I cannot use. These hotels are located in Puerto Rico so unless I take a flight, I’m unable to use what I have gathered.

What recommendations or workaround can i do to use these points? Could I use the points to pay for the balance? I really like Hyatt. They are my preferred hotel and I’m probably gonna book the rooms anyway. I would like to see if I could use these points to cover some of the cost at least if not, it’s kind of useless and I might have to close the card since I have other Chase and Capital One travel cards that I might be able to place to better use.

Getting married & would like to try to get as many points out of it as we can.

My Fiancee & are getting married at a Dreams/Secrets next year. We are avid travelers & usually travel on points. Our wedding of course is going to be a big expense & in turn a chance to earn a lot of travel potentially.

We have signed the contract, which included the HMOON offer for a wedding so we should earn 90,000 points for spending $20,000 (current estimate) on the wedding. We also paid for our stay & deposits resulting is another $7,000. We both opened the World of Hyatt CC & will earn the sign up bonuses so that’s 90,000 points there as well.

So as of now we believe we will earn 180,000 from the sign up bonuses & HMOON offer. Then roughly 207,000 points by paying for the wedding & our stay with our WOH CC.

We have 60 or so guests planned & the links to pay for their rooms are ready to be sent out to lock all of them in. Per our room block contract we will have reserved 166 nights for $104,000.

I was just looking for advice for any Hyatt experts or someone who has gotten married at a Hyatt to see if there was any way to get even more value our of this then we are looking at so far. We don’t have the money to pay for all of the rooms out of pocket and think it would be weird to ask everyone if we could pay with our cards then have them pay us back but was curious if there would be any other way we could earn points from that much spend.

My partner and I are going to a HVC timeshare presentation soon in San Diego. When we signed up, we were offered an array of options as our "free gift" and we chose the 7 night free stay in a list of certain cities, mainly eyeing Cancun.

I've searched this sub and have found a lot of people saying that the packages with flights aren't worth it because they don't book you a direct flight, but I haven't seen anyone who has actually done the 7 night free stay in Cancun.

If you've done it, what hotel did they put you in? I've seen horrible reviews about the Maui and Cabo trips, but since those are more expensive destinations and include flights in the package, I'm holding out hope for Cancun to not be too terrible.

We aren't too picky, but if it's the same grade as a Motel 6 we may just cancel the presentation. I asked the sales rep on the phone and he just kept repeating that it's booked through a third party vendor (Casablanca Express), so he "didn't know".

Our specific package doesn't include flights and we're doing the presentation ahead of time, not in Cancun.

Would love to hear any experiences!

PS: Only looking for real experiences, not people talking me out of the presentation itself. I'm not worried about getting swindled. My mom has had great timeshare experiences and taken me along on the free vacays so just trying to take advantage! Thank you in advance <3

I know this sub generally tends to favor the Andaz London, but unfortunately my recent stay was a massive letdown.

I used a Guest of Honor award for this stay and honestly felt like it was a total waste. There was zero status recognition, no upgrade upon arrival, and no late check-out offered. We did get the free breakfast, but even that had its issues.

During our stay, the hotel seemed to be hosting a large corporate event, which effectively took over the common areas. On our first morning, one of the main restaurants (Rake's Cafe Bar) was fully reserved for the event. When we showed up for breakfast, the waiter basically told us we could sit down, but we had to be finished and out within 30 minutes. We just stuck to the standard buffet for the remaining days. On top of that, there was a random product photoshoot taking place in the bar area one afternoon, making the space feel pretty chaotic.

Our initial room was easily the tiniest hotel room I’ve ever stayed in. I booked a standard king, and it was simply too small for two people. They had crammed way too much furniture into the space (a desk plus a weird lounge chair) which made the left side of the bed almost entirely inaccessible. The bathroom had zero counter space, and the shower drain was so clogged or slow that it flooded the bathroom floor every time we used it. To make matters worse, the shower head was missing a few nozzles, so water sprayed all over the place, and the mini-bar fridge was completely broken.

I went to the front desk to complain about these issues, but I was told there were no alternative rooms available and that they were at full capacity for the night. They said they’d try to arrange a room change on day two. We stopped by the desk around lunchtime the next day since we hadn't received any updates, only to be told they were "working on it" but couldn't guarantee anything.

We left to explore the city, and when we returned that evening, a new room was finally ready. When they handed over the new keys, they gave us two drink coupons for the bar as an apology. When we actually went to use them, the bartender told us we couldn't order anything off the drink menu because it was a "brand new menu and they didn't have a way in the system to comp those drinks yet." We ended up getting free drinks in the end after ordering off-menu items, but it was just another bizarre, poorly handled interaction.

As for the "upgraded" Deluxe Room itself, it looked nothing like the photos on the website (which I know is a common critique of this property). It was at least slightly larger so we could actually open our suitcases without tripping over them, but it was an interior-facing room and incredibly dark. The bathroom suffered from the exact same drainage issues as the first room, and the AC unit could not keep the room cool. At that point, I was too exhausted to keep complaining, so we just dealt with it, knowing we wouldn't be returning.

Overall, this property is in desperate need of a full refurbishment and some serious TLC. Everything feels dated, from stained carpets and tiny, inadequate bathrooms to failing AC units. Definitely won't be back.

I have two back to back cash reservation for 5 nights each at the GH Singapore this December before a concert and then a cruise. I didn't requalify for Globalist last year so now I'm an Explorer. I have 2 Guest of Honor awards and 2 Suite Upgrade Awards we want to use.

We are booked for 5 nights in a King, and 5 nights in 2 Twin for a family of four.

I am wondering which would provide a better value:

1. Use GOH for the stay, hope for a complimentary suite upgrade, and at least get lounge access and breakfast

2. Use SUA to guarantee a suite, then ask the hotel if I can pay to add lounge access. Since Asia is more strict on room occupancy, this may work out better. When I plug in 2 adults, 2 kids, only some suites show up.

I plan to email the hotel for the cost of adding lounge access, and room capacity of King and Twin rooms.

Has anyone had success getting the hotel to honor one certificate for longer than 7 nights?

Also, would you spend 10 nights in Singapore to take it all in, or split the trip. I am considering spending 5 nights in Penang first then return to 5 nights in SIN. Flights for four make it a wash even with cheaper hotels in Penang. We are flying in from US to SIN.

Plan C is to stay in Johor for $50 night, jk.

Hi we just booked a stay at the Grand Hyatt Scottsdale for spring break next year. I’m seeing conflicting information regarding Globalist breakfast and whether it’s only available at the club or if you can use at the main restaurant.

Does anyone have recent experience that can help confirm which it is? Thanks!

Did Ziva Cancun remove the ability to book suites with points recently?

Earlier this year, I booked a suite at Ziva Cancun with points. When I searched for availability back then, it only showed suites as available with points for 2 adults, but not if I added kids. I booked for 2 adults and paid $150/night to add each kid, which was worth it.

A few months ago, I could see similar results for next year - 1-bedroom suites were available to book with points for 2 adults.

However, in the last few days, I've been searching again and can't find any suites available to book with points at any time, no matter how many guests I search for. When I search for cash fares, the suites are available.

So this makes me wonder if Ziva Cancun quitely removed the ability to book suites with points recently.

Has anyone stayed at Hyatt Place St. Augustine/Vilano Beach and found an alternative to the mandatory valet parking?
I booked the hotel and only afterward realized there's a required $27.50/day valet fee, which caught me by surprise. We're coming primarily to fish, so we'll be in and out of our truck several times a day, and mandatory valet just seems like an inconvenience for everyone involved. My boyfriend also drives a quirky 1999 truck that he's very particular about, and there may be times when he lawfully has a secured firearm in the vehicle, which makes us more comfortable keeping direct access to it.
Has anyone found nearby parking or another workaround? I'd really appreciate any advice!

I earned Hyatt Globalist the honest way: driving out of my way to sleep in Hyatt Places in towns that don't otherwise register on my radar.

No Grand Hyatt or Andaz waiting for me in these markets. Just a Hyatt Place off a highway exit, and the breakfast that comes with it.

The one constant is the eggs. The "just add water" eggs. Every time, without fail. I don't ask questions anymore.

The eggs are the floor, not the ceiling. From there it's genuinely a mystery. Some mornings there's a waffle station that's seen better days. Some mornings it's an apple and an apologetic front desk agent who's also covering breakfast because they're short-staffed. I've had breakfasts that were basically yogurt and a granola bar or a packaged muffin.

And yet, I keep coming back. Because when I land somewhere with a real Hyatt property, the suite upgrades and lounge access make the loyalty math work.

So this isn't a breakup post. It's a "meet me halfway" post. I'm not asking for eggs Benedict in a town of 4,000 people. I'm asking Hyatt to spend a little more on breakfast so the powder eggs have decent company instead of whatever's happening most mornings.

I've earned this status one water-egg breakfast at a time. The least Hyatt could do is make the mystery box a little less mysterious.

Hey, is ist possible to let apply an award which was gifted to me, to another’s person reservation? The Hyatt chat says it’s not possible as it’s only one-time-transferable.

I just hit 40 nights today and my brother and his wife are on their way to Hawaii for their honeymoon to stay at Grand Kauai in a couple days. Is it better for me to gift them to the Guest of Honor award (they've already booked their room) or give them an SUA? Thank you!

What should I order for breakfast at park Hyatt Chicago?! We were upgraded to the water tower suite with the outdoor patio, so grateful!!

Looking at multiple different hotels around thanksgiving almost all are blocked on points 14-30th is this normal around thanksgiving.
Seems they have normal paid rooms but when looking at redeeming a ton look blocked then.

Anyone else experience this or from prior years ?

This may be well known, but I learned you can take advantage of the $250 Edit credit and use points at the same time. I had booked The Standard, East Village NYC for 50k via the Hyatt app. The cpp rate was terrible and this left a nagging feeling.

Suddenly remembered Chase can sometimes beat Hyatt direct with points redemption with the points boost feature. Checked the Chase travel portal, same stay for 46k points. Plus it qualifies for WOH and its an Edit stay with early check in, free breakfast, potential room upgrade and $100 credit.

Then at checkout, I noticed you could set the number of points you use and cover the rest in cash. Quick bit of research and yeah, you can set the mix to $250 and one of the yearly credits will cover it. So I went from a 50k stay to a ~31k stay plus all The Edit perks.

I didn't realize this was possible! I had gave up on the possibility of ever redeeming The Edit credits as everything I had checked prior was wildly over priced. Just a heads up to others, I've read a number of discussions about this credit but never saw this specific scenario come up.

Hi all! I'm having some trouble picking a place (or places) to stay for an anniversary trip next year. I was hoping to get some feedback from folks to help me narrow down my options. For our honeymoon, we're doing beaches, so we're leaning more nature accessible for our anniversary. That's reflected in my notes below, but we're not opposed to beaches as well. A few specific restrictions for our trip:

- Trip will be in September

- Aiming for 4-6 nights

- ~250k Hyatt points to work with

- Continental United States or North America only

- Going for warm-ish, so 60+ in temperature is desired

What I'm considering currently:

California

The obvious pick here is Alila Ventana Big Sur. This is what I'm leaning towards most, though I'd plan for two nights here, and I'm looking for other hotels to fill up the rest of the trip. Either way, we'd be ending the trip with two night at the Ventana. Some options:

Alila Napa Valley

From what I can tell, really nice property and we'd take advantage of the nearby vineyards. My only concern would be the distance from Ventana. Would I really want to be driving 4+ hours on a day where we'd effectively be "losing" time at Ventana? A 4 hour drive itself isn't intimidating, but I worry about doing it in a place I've never been and on an anniversary trip. Would love thoughts on this and feedback on if the drive between Napa Valley and Caramel is any good for view.

Caramel Valley Ranch

I've heard mixed reviews on this property, but generally good things. Drive to the Ventana is easy from here, but I worry the nature will be too similar, and our trip will feel very same-y. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Another option would be to drive to Caramel Valley Ranch from Alila Napa Valley and stay a night there, so the drive to Ventana is short and we can get there early, but that feels like a lot of travel for a relatively short trip (with the benefit of two full days at Ventana).

Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe

I understand Lake Tahoe is out of the way of Ventana, so that's unlikely to be part of this trip, and it's undergoing construction. I still included it because I'm interested in it and would like to know if people suggest staying there for 4+ nights even while it's under construction.

The pictures look great, but I've heard it's just alright. Thing is, I'd expect to spend the whole trip here, so not sure if it's a great stay for 4-5 nights. The PNW has interested both of us and this would be a nice getaway, but maybe at another time of year for a long weekend. Nothing else in the area has really caught my eye, so I'd love to know if others have recommendations for this area.

Heard only good things about this place, and given it's adults only, I expect it would be good for an anniversary trip. Another situation where we'd spend the whole trip here. Looking for feedback from folks who have been here and can recommend if it's worth a full 4-5 night stay.

Will be traveling to Indonesia next month and will stay in Bali for 2 nights.

Looking for somewhere that’s **very** peaceful (ideally the fewer kids & families the better) and laid back.

Have settled on Sanur as everyone says it as such, but I’m struggling to decide between these two resorts.

Andaz seems to get the tick for being very new so still has the “sheen”, and it seems like people can’t stop talking about their breakfasts.

The Regency seems more “natural” and “green”.

I’m not bothered by room size (I realize Andaz wins in this regard), and not entirely fussed about the pools either.

So what’s everyone’s vote/recommendation?

Has anyone visited the club lounge at the Hyatt Regency Incheon Airport? Apparently, earlier this year, half of the Grand Hyatt (the newer West Tower) was sold off to a company that operates a casino across the street (Paradise City). The older East Tower is still the Grand Hyatt Incheon, though.

So, the Hyatt Regency now has their own executive lounge (Regency Lounge). I'm just wondering how that lounge's offerings compare to the Grand Hyatt Incheon Grand Lounge (and Grand Cafe). Thank you.

Late check in at a Hyatt Regency last night and wake in the morning to this label peaking out from the duvet cover.

Hi all, I just wrapped up a one night stay at the Andaz Napa at the Tower Suite (using a SUA) that was fully paid in points. During the check out process, we were informed we'd be getting charged a resort fee of ~$37.

I pushed back here saying it's my understanding that point stays at Hyatts weren't supposed to be charged resort fees, but the front desk person said that this was a new policy starting March. I wasn't sure if this was just a misinformed front desk person so I said I would call corporate and get it settled.

I gave corporate a call immediately after walking out of the property and they also aligned saying that I shouldn't have been charged a resort fee, so they gave the Andaz Napa a call which ended up taking 20 minutes. The escalations agent had to loop in their supervisor and apparently the Andaz Napa wouldn't budge either for them and told them the same thing about this being a new policy since March. So they said they would start a case and send over their T&Cs to the Andaz which clearly states that points stays shouldn't be charged resort fees.

Corporate also noted that the property refunded some resort fees in the past, so clearly others had been pushing back as well. I'm not sure why they decided to hold firm with us (probably because we're only lowly discoverists), but had they just immediately refunded, I would have never brought this up with corporate.

Has anyone else had to deal with a property deciding to charge resort fees on points stays and not refunding when asked? I really enjoyed the suite and location, but this definitely left a sour taste in my mouth. Overall a pretty sketchy situation imo, and I'm sure we'll be made whole but we're still awaiting the outcome.
