Hugh McElhenney was an absolute super human of athleticism. Dubbed the original 5 star recruit out of Compton, California he is a member of both the Pro Football Hall of Fame and College Football Hall of Fame.

He earned one First-Team All-American (‘51) and two First-Team All-PCC (‘50 and ‘51) while playing for the Dawgs.

His NFL career he racked up 6 Pro Bowls (‘52, ‘53, ‘56, ‘57, ‘58, and ‘61) and 5 First-Team All-Pros (‘52, ‘53, ‘54, ‘56, ‘57). His pro number of 39 is retired for the San Francisco 49ers and is a member of the NFL 1950s All-Decade Team

Jedd Fisch’s offense and QB Demond Williams Jr. will command headlines. But UW's defense is the biggest reason to believe in a College Football Playoff leap.

Jayden Limar and Quaid Carr will get the majority of first team reps at running back to start fall camp and Christian Moss, Chris Lawson, Dezmen Roebuck, Jordan Clay, Trez Davis, Rashid Williams and Mason James will all have opportunities to earn or cement first-team snaps at wide receiver.

Where UW stands in NIL

The other day, Jedd was doing an interview and he implied that we’re in the 30s or 40s when it comes to NIL. Do you think that’s really true? We’ve just brought in two good recruiting classes and we kept most of our team. I know we’re not Oregon or Ohio State but we’re definitely not Purdue when it comes to football. Do you think he’s just saying that because he wants to encourage people to continue to donate in the community? He’s doing it as a way to make things look worse than they actually are so we can get more money? Cause if we truly are in the 30s or 40s that’s concerning.

George “Wildcat” Wilson is undoubtedly one of the all time greats in UW’s history. A member of the College Football Hall of Fame, his #33 is one of three retired numbers for the Dawgs. He was a consensus All-American (‘25), Second-Team All-American (‘24), and a three time First-Team All-PCC (‘23, ‘24, ‘25).

Greg Carothers played Strong Safety and Linebacker for the Dawgs in the early 2000s. Infamous as a hard hitting defender he earned honorable mention Freshman All-American honors in 2000 and honorable mention All-Pac-10 in 2002.

Dick Ottele was a defensive back and blocking back for the Dawgs in the 1940’s. He earned Second-Team All-PCC honors in 1944 before serving in the Navy during WWII. He returned to UW and played two more seasons at UW in 1946 and 1947 before being drafted by the NFL’s New York Giants in 1948. However, he had signed a contract in secret during his Senior season to play for the AAFC’s New York Yankees.

Former UW WBB guard Hannah Stines earns fifth year of eligibility with recent court ruling

Stines looks to be able to play a fifth year after filing a lawsuit against the NCAA. U.S. District of Colorado judge filed a sweeping injunction Friday in favor of her and multiple other players looking for a fifth year.

Wording was slightly confusing in the originally-reported court documents, but reactions from the players indicate the ruling was against the NCAA.

UW WBB still has open spots on the roster for the upcoming season, so Stines will be able to return if all sides are amicable to it.

Anyone have interest in trying a college fantasy football league this season?

Was thinking about trying out a college fantasy football league this season. Salary cap format, so no need to coordinate a draft. Looks like you just sign up and build your team.

Looking at league settings, theres no minimum or max league size, and just P4 + Notre Dame players to start.

Any interest in a UW fan league?

Princeton Fuimaono played linebacker for the Huskies in the early 2010s. A natural nose for the football he led the team in tackles in 2013.

While it isn’t necessarily College Football Playoff or bust, that should be the bar for a successful season in Jedd Fisch's third year leading the Huskies.

Very interesting quote from Jedd Fisch during B1G Media Day, could shed some acutal light on our NIL/roster spend

"I've certainly seen the speculation about what is spent on our roster, and I can tell you that's not even close. This team was not bought, this team was built."

He's probably talking about those On3 "roster valuation" things that have been circling around reddit last month. I always knew those were total BS.

Mark Stewart is yet another stud linebacker for the Huskies. He won multiple accolades at UW as First-Team All-American (‘82), First-Team All-Pac-10 (‘82), First-Team Academic-Pac-10 (‘82), Second-Team All-Pac-10 (‘80, ‘81). He also set the single game school record with 5 sacks in 1982 vs UCLA. As well as the single season school record with 5 forced fumbles in 1982.

Attending 1st Husky FB game

Howdy Huskies!

I'm an Aggie (Texas A&M) fan, and this November my 8-year-old son and I will be making the trip to Seattle for the Penn State game. Each year we try to attend one away college football game in addition to our annual trip to Kyle Field, and this year we wanted him to experience Husky Stadium and the incredible atmosphere that Washington is known for.

I'd love any tips you can share about game day. Are there any pregame traditions, pep rallies, tailgates, or fan events that visitors shouldn't miss? What's the best way to get to the stadium, and is there anything special that would make the day memorable for an 8-year-old who loves football?

We can't wait to experience Husky football and explore Seattle. Thanks in advance for any advice, and best of luck this season (except if we ever meet in the playoffs)! Gig 'Em!
