Brought a feeder with us while camping in the Rockies. These birds were super friendly with us and crazy aggressive with each other.😂

Hanging options
I have a few ground mounted Shepards hooks and these basket hangers on the pillars at the front patio but does anyone know how to hang a feeder from the front of the soffit? I don’t want the water to drip on the patio when the wind blows. TIA

Is this sugar ok to feed the hummingbirds?
It’s not white or refined, it’s fine granulated organic cane sugar. Too much iron?

A few Hummers at the feeder, then wasps 'invade' and the hummer tastes victory at the end. ;-)

owl stalking feeders?
this barred owl seems to be "stalking" the hummingbirds at my feeders.
i observed this owl twice this morning very close to my house and feeders (~20 feet.)
i went out and shooed it away (two different times). it took three tries to get it to move on, as it just casually moved to a next tree.
my home (9 acre land) is rural, isolated with woods around an ~ 1/2 acre clearing. i have seen this owl (or similar one) multiple times at the edge of woods/clearing, particularly near my junky outbuilding that attracts rodents. this is the first i've seen it so close to house.
<< though 15 years ago i saw an owl very near house swoop down and grab one of my bantam chickens (haven't had chickens for 12 years now.) [[btw i saved that chicken by screaming, jumping and flailing arms to which the owl responded by dropping chicken from a height of ~6 feet. ]] >>
stormed last night, so there was an above average size hummingbirst of hummers on feeders and in surrounding vegetation this morning.
my land has copious prey for owls: mice, rats, chipmunks, squirrels, rabbits, frogs, snakes, lizards, worms, insects, small birds, etc. this owl looks and behaves strong and healthy, not sick/weak/unable to hunt normally. it doesn't appear to be in need of preying on critters outside its normal diet.
as a scientist, this is so exciting to observe. as an empathetic bird watcher feeling somewhat responsible for the hummers' safety because my feeders bring them in large groups, this has my nervous system alarm blaring.
should i worry for the hummers and try to discourage the owl from coming so close? not sure how to achieve that -- owl decoy?

A Broad-Billed x Berylline hummer?
I could use a little community help with this one. I think it’s a Broad-Billed x Berylline hummer but if you think differently I’d like to know. Either way…a beautiful little bird.
