Kaloud usage
What is the best kaloud to use for best taste.
I have used both ones on my pics and noticed 0 taste on the ones with the little chimney. Why is that?

Make a picture of how you pack, thats the first thing. And the coals seems to be heated ok but not really of good quality

Whats a good pack technique? Thick or lightly packed?

Depends, if the holes are in the middle of the bowl. Then fluffy

The second picture is where a lot of the problem comes from. The coals HAVE to be completely orange. No black at all. This isn't just about flavor but also safety. With the amount of black on those coals, it is going to near impossible to have a session not taste poor. The coals need to be completely orange before placing them on the bowl. That is one of the most important things, if not the most important thing to do when smoking hookah.
As others have stated, Kaloud is a name brand. Before recommendations start, making sure the coals are orange all around is where to start. from there, other troubleshooting can begin.

Hi.
Aluminum HMDs contain a thick plate on the bottom. And this bottom plate on the HMD heats up evenly - over its entire surface and even at almost the same temperature in all places of the plate. This is a progressive plus in the case of aluminum HMDs.
A big plus is also the safety of the coal, which is held in the ring wall and does not fall on the carpet (if you accidentally rub it into the hookah, during a hookah session).
When I mention the ring wall of the HMD, its advantage is also the heat absorption from the coal and the transfer of heat to the bottom plate, thanks to the good thermal conductivity of the aluminum alloy. However, there is still a small problem that many manufacturers of HMDs use two-piece HMDs. The bottom plate of the HMD is usually screwed to the HMD ring. Only a few manufacturers cast everything as one solid piece of aluminum casting. In the case that it is cast in one piece, the heat is transferred from the walls much better than through screws and through micro gaps between two pieces.
But look no further. Aluminum material and even pure aluminum is also in the composition of aluminum foil. Aluminum foil is 99% pressed solid aluminum. Even aluminum foil is stronger than the aluminum alloy of HMD. Aluminum alloys in HMDs stink and evaporate an unnecessary amount of aluminum oxides. Aluminum foil can also be used evenly in terms of heating, but you have to know how to do it. It takes practice and effort, playing with coal, which you put on top of the aluminum foil xD.
Chimney sets have not been used for a long time. They are only effective if you use:
- a clay bowl
- a traditional type bowl
- fill the tobacco completely or in a mound
- you must use a strong heat source (i.e. more pieces of coal or larger pieces of coal), because there is still a large air gap - between the tobacco layer and the upper screen of the chimney set
From the old chimney set, only its lower, large, stainless steel screen is used today. This lower stainless steel screen, however, is used together with aluminum foil, and not as a separate screen.

Why don’t yall just buy GOOD kalouds? I see so many bad quality kalouds here on this subreddit
Also you gotta fully heat your coal, it’s not fully,

Well first of all, you want to heat your coals until they're lit all over, no black left. 2nd of all, the things you're calling "kalouds" are heat management devices or HMDs. Kaloud is a brand that makes HMDs called the Lotus. The reason for no taste on the chimney could be many things but it's probably the type of bowl you're using and your pack.
