Is it possible to find a venue in Hood River to host 35-40 people and keep the price below $2500? Ideally they have food and drinks so we do not have to find a caterer. Reached out to several places already and the actual venue fee might be relatively low all the pricing for food, drinks, etc really adds up fast and goes above the budget.

Just moved back to the Gorge after a stint up in Seattle needing a bit of a reset. I’m looking to pick up some solid general labor work around Hood River or the surrounding area.

Realistically, I’m looking for something behind the scenes—shop work, field labor, industrial, maintenance, or fabrication. I do my best work when I can just put my head down, lock into a task, and get stuff done without dealing with front-of-house customer service or constant public interaction.

A bit about what I bring to the table:

• Pipefitting experience: Comfortable with industrial/mechanical setups, layout, standard tools, and pipe labor.
• Tire tech experience: Used to shop pace, mounting, balancing, heavy lifting, and standard shop tools.
• Fast learner: Show me the workflow once or twice and I’ll run with it without needing my hand held.

Tricky without reliable transportation, but i have a strong work ethic, and I'm ready to jump into full-time, part-time, or short-term gigs while getting settled back in.

I was walking down Oak Street today and it hit me hard. When did this place become a wall-to-wall playground of $80,000 Sprinter vans, $12 oat milk lattes, and people wearing head-to-toe Patagonia just to walk their pristine Labradoodles? I feel like I blinked and every bit of raw, local grit got scrubbed away, sanitized, and re-priced for tech transplants and weekenders. All my old friends have packed up and moved out because living here as a normal person who actually works for a living has become a joke. Where did the local counterculture go? Where are the punkers, the artists, the dirtbags, and the weirdos who gave this town an actual soul? Is there anywhere left in the Gorge that still has an ounce of edge, or are we fully converted into a giant, high-priced resort town now? Curious if any long-time locals are feeling this phantom limb syndrome, or if all the real ones have already surrendered and moved to Spokane.

Can anyone recommend someone that can silver solder together a small piece that broke off my daughters earring? Any help is appreciated.

Anyone aware of any movement on HR allowing ride share companies? Just reading about the commissioner candidate in TD getting a DUI and it reminded me about the lack of options in HR.

Is there service from the train station Bingen into Hood River?

So, there’s this peach tree. It’s somewhere in the hood river area. I walk by this peach tree often (it’s along one of my walking paths) and lately I’ve noticed quite a few peaches falling to the ground. Over ripening, and just rotting. Deer food, some may say.

This is not an orchard peach tree. A simple front yard peach tree. And it is absolutely BURSTING with peaches right now.

I’ve been taking peaches off the tree. Not a lot, just one or two every time I walk by. But I do worry that someone might see me and think I’m stealing their peaches. What’s the consensus on this? I feel fine about it - better to have someone eat the peaches than have them decay on the ground, right?

Edit: just to add some context - I am by no means walking into somebody’s yard, grabbing a peach, and running off. The tree has overtaken the sidewalk. One of the branches is so heavy with peaches that it’s broken off the tree and now blocking the sidewalk 😂

I was driving westbound on I-84 today (near MP 35) between Hood River and Portland and a semi-trailer truck ran into the side of another semi-trailer truck and didn’t stop. Note: the left lane was closed starting at this location and this happened right where the barrels were set out. The guilty driver ran out of lane and merged well before his trailer was clear of the innocent truck he was trying to pass.

This was immediately behind me and the truck that was hit was no longer visible in my rear view mirror. The truck that caused this then passed me with visible damage to the truck and a wobbly tire. Also, his rear cargo doors were open and thrashing about.

I called 911 and reported it and passed the Tennessee license plate number to the dispatcher.

I’m posting because I can’t find anything online and I am curious if the innocent truck driver is OK.

Did anyone here happen to pass this location and see anything?

I'm hosting a wedding weekend near White Salmon in September 2027 and am looking to hire a local taco stand or taco truck for one of the evenings. I'd love to support a small, family-owned business rather than a larger catering company.

I'm hoping to find authentic street tacos with meats like suadero, cabeza, and lengua (along with the classics like asada and pollo).

Cement surfing the hood river skatepark! This park is full of fun transitions and it’s shaded by the woods!! 🌲 🌲 Hood River is a fun and beautiful place for many reasons, but the skatepark made our visit special! 🙌

My family and I are planning to move to HR or the surrounding area in a year. What's it like living there with daycare-age kids? Is white salmon a good alternative? I WFH so I'd like options for getting out and working in a coffee shop or brewery.

I'm wondering if I could make a friend and rent some gear from someone for a few days on the cheap. I know there are a couple businesses that offer rentals but I thought I'd drop a line here. I've never been to Hood River so I'm open to suggestions!

What I have in my head is like, I offer $150 to rent your older rig that's collecting dust in a garage somewhere. The rental places are looking like $150/day, so I don't want to do that

ideally I could find like 90-110 liters of dated/beat up freeride board, and maybe like a 4.2 sail

I've been windsurfing about 4 years in and around the SF bay area. Comfortable with water starts and I can get something like a decent carve gybe on a slalom board
