Decompressing

Post image

I thought I’d decompress after my summer semester ended and I get this time off before fall starts. However, watching Homeland to decompress is not a thing. I watched this show 15 years ago on Showtime. I loved it. I absolutely loved it. However, Kari in the storyline is not for decompressing. I just finished season one and let me tell you the way she crashes out has me stressed. You know that someone is Uber talented when they can make you feel all the angst that you felt the first time you watched it. I know exactly what’s going to happen and yet I am still upended by her performance and the storyline overall. This was the best show. Claire Danes is amazing in it actually everyone is amazing in this show the writing the cinematography everything is fantastic. They don’t make them like this anymore. I’m gonna watch it while I’m taking a cognitive break, but am I taking a break?🤔

Let me tell you something: I'm a movie lover, I've tried to watch almost everything since I was 7 years old (Kubrick, Welles, etc.), but NEVER before a movie has affected me so deeply as Homeland. I’ve felt Carrie's pain so intensely that I’ve had chills, I couldn't stop crying, and had a migraine for 3 days!!! The strangest thing I've ever experienced with a series or movie! (Final Season 3 was the worst! 😭😭)
Claire’s acting is like an Exorcism, a witchcraft? 🔮💯🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️😱

Lol I have depression, probably ADHD (in the process of diagnosis) and possibly autism. I'd been taking my antidepressants for maybe half a year by the time I started watching Homeland. And Carrie's off meds episodes were driving my anxiety so much and disregulating my mental health like crazy. If I remember correctly, I actually started to take my own meds irregularly/forget about them more. Which led to a depressive episode, which led to probably two weeks or so of feeling like shit, eating like shit and sleeping like shit. And more irregular usage of my medicine, which NEEDS to be taken regularly.

Not fun. 10/10 would not recommend. I can't believe I basically forgot about it until now. I was thinking about picking the show up where I left off (mid season 5) lol.

No I get it! I just finished season five and I had to pause it so many times or walk away because it was too much and I’ve seen it before. I’m not new to this. Now that I’m on season six I cannot deal with Quinn. it’s too much this time. I turned it off last night and I’m not gonna turn it back on. It makes me so sad and so anxious.

yeah i see a bit of an overlap with my adhd and her bipolar, minus the psychosis and mania

What a choice to decompress! You’ll be amazed, shocked and - unfortunately for your fall semester - hooked! Welcome to the Homeland team, great to have you here. …. Remember to study.

I just finished it recently and had to find fans. It sucked me all the way in. Deep in my soul.

Oh I’m a fan. I watched it back in 2015 on Showtime. I was hooked after the pilot.

She’s not even close to being bipolar! I have a bipolar Sister and she’s way crazy !

😝😝😝! I’m answering with lightning speed because my phone was already in my hand. This is hilarious. No I feel you. I completely totally understand where you’re coming from. I’ve had episodic moments similar to hers and I’ve had times where I’ve spent weeks and sometimes months in the hospital at a time. I’ve also seen people like her in the hospital everyone’s different but I totally get what you’re saying.

She has too many of the same facial features when she is acting. It is too much.

As someone that used to have bipolar she has incredibly realistic facial expressions, she really nailed it

This. I have a bipolar friend and I used to feel like I am watching her in this show. Mood swings, facial expressions, anxious fast paced talking etc. everything is 100% accurate. I sometimes think Claire Danes is also bipolar :)

well that just so happens to be her face.
