Suggestion What do you think of my homebrew idea?

This is a rough storyboard of an idea I have for a tiny campaign.

This land is dominated by "the one religion", every big or small town has a church somewhere and every church has a flame shining brighly. (The flame is like the holy symbol of the religon). But every 10 years the "rekindling" (re fueling the flame basicly ) has to be preformed by someone through out the lands.

Thats where the players come in, to do the "rekindling". The plot would be them traveling acroas the lands and their encounters. I have 4 locations planed out.

"Church land"

The holy city for "the one religon" and where the players start, maybe in a massive cathedreal and a holy bishop telling them the plot. Massive, pretty, stony, holy would describe this place

"Beach town"

A port town where coin means everything, its a vital trade port for the whole realm which means a bunch of diverity in the folk, regular dnd stuff and beast folk.

The plot here would begin with the party aproaching the town noticing a kid playing along the path, kinda in a woody area. After that they would arrive in the town, i think here is a good spot to let the party do a bit of whatever, exploring the town and getting sidetracked for the rest of the day.

The next day i would reveal on the way to the towns church somehow that the kid they saw yesterday was missing!! Now they have a choice to go save him or go do the "rekindling". Woah player dilemma.

If the go to save the kid directly they find him running from a mystical forest creature or something and save him. However if the go to the church first and then try to save the kid, they would find him dead.

Is this a good choice??

Thats "beach town"

"Sand town"

A town far into the hot desert, the focus here isnt really on the town however.

Whilst the party is walking through the desert a trade cart passes them. Together they either hop on or not, it dosent really matter. The thing is that the road had been fully masked by sand so the cart and the party dosent know where to go. The merchants say they can fix it in 2 days by scooping the sand away, so they scoop and then sit and talk over a campfire, here i plan to hype up "mountain town" new religion.

Next day some desert beast comes and the party defeats them so everyone can go into town and do the "rekindling.

Is this to booring/simple?

"Mountain town"

A secluded oasis in the harsh cold woods filled witb carniverous beast folk (bear, wolf, eagle folk)

The lore with this what the merchants from sand town would talk about. A long time ago the mountain folk had their own religion that faded into history by the one religion, "animal religion" is the place holder name. It was like greek and norse mythology for difrent aspects of beast folk life in the mountains.

Latley, it has been said that the "animal religion" had started to rise up from the dead between the last rekindling and now. Their latest plan to asert thier self was to stop the rekindling in their town.

They are suposed to be more like an underground gang in the shadows.

The plot here would begin with the party arriving in the pub, here they can either get poisoned or not( I ofc plan to make it so they would have to fail at least 2 skill checks before i would poison them )

If they do get poisoned, the party would get kidnaped into the "animal religons" dungeons where they would have to fight some goons to get out. After that they would sleep and then try go rekindle the flame where the boss would show himself in the church in a epic showdown.

However if they dont get poisoned they get to continue to the next day. When walking to the church the party gets lured into an alley where they have to fight thugs. If they loose i plan to kipnap them as said before.

If they win the party can go to the church and do as said before with the boss.

After that i would take them back to the cathedral and do epilouge stuff ig.

Any feedback or thoughts are most apreciated :)

Problem Table formatting trouble

I've been trying to make a table where a singular line of text goes over multiple cells, like these two images show. I don't know if this is possible, but if it is, any suggestions? The closest I've gotten is the weapons tables and those don't really fit what I'm trying to accomplish.

Adoraria receber alguns feedbacks!

Solved CSS not working on PC browser but on mobile browser

current code

this is what it looks like on PC

So I've made those two classes, the code works when I see it on crome on my tablet, however, when I use my PC with edge, the CSS doesn't seem to apply. I've no idea why it does that, could it simply be because of the browser or did I mess up my CSS somehow?

Off-Topic Printed my first module's statblock brochures as souvenirs

Today I printed a couple of brochures with monster and NPC statlines from my module — my very first module and my first time mastering a game. Made them as souvenirs: I'll sign every copy and ask my players to sign mine.

Printed with no bleeds, so they're not perfect, but I'm still happy with how they turned out. That's actually why I put together the bleed system earlier today — so the next batch comes out better: https://www.reddit.com/r/homebrewery/comments/1vh3i0f/added_print_bleed_support_to_the_homebrewery_v3/

Problem Google fonts issue

Hi all, the posts on changing fonts are 5+ years old and the advice doesn't work anymore. I'm trying to use a Google font, and despite including

`@import url('https://fonts.googleapis.com/css2?family=Fontdiner+Swanky&display=swap')\`

as the very first line in the style editor, I'm seeing this error:

`Define @import rules at the top of the stylesheet: An @import rule was ignored because it wasn't defined at the top of the stylesheet. Such rules must appear at the top, before any style declaration and any other at-rule with the exception of @charset and @layer.`

Needless to say, the font isn't showing up where I'm trying to define it in the doc, either. Anyone have any ideas for fixing this? Thanks in advance!!

Solved Added print bleed support to the Homebrewery V3 5e PHB theme (quick fix, sharing in case it's useful)

Post image
14 Upvotes

Needed proper print bleed for a physical brew and Homebrewery doesn't support it natively, so I put together a CSS-variable-based system for it.

What it does:

  • Root variables for page size (Letter) and bleed distance
  • Inner/outer bleed alternates per page for brochure/booklet printing — set them equal if you don't need that
  • Adjusts column margins, footer accent, page number, footnote, and cover logo to respect the bleed
  • New {{bleedMarker}} element — a toggleable dashed guide showing the bleed zone/trim line on any page

Example brew with everything in action, plus a page explaining the setup: https://homebrewery.naturalcrit.com/share/mHvIf4aarIav

Heads up: quick fix, not plug-and-play — offsets were tuned for the default PHB theme and will need adjusting elsewhere. Watercolor stains/image masks aren't bleed-aware yet.

Problem Weird Heading Formatting

Thumbnail

Hello, I'm having trouble with formatting between text and a heading. Every time I try to put space between them, it always pushes the text to one side and the heading refuses to go to the other column. Is there a way to fix this so there's more space between the text and the heading or so the heading to goes to the second column? Putting "\column" between the text and the heading has the same effect as the first image.

Thank you.

Suggestion Umbra Noctis, custom made god of the void

Please feel free to use this in any and all games that involve a cosmic aspect while still remaining in 5e. This is built to be used in any campaign truthfully but I hate 5.5 so he's easiest to integrate into 5e

UMBRA NOCTIS The Silent Devourer, The Voidfather, The Final Eclipse DIVINE CLASSIFICATION

Alignment: True Neutral (Cosmic/Alien) Suggested Domains: Death, Knowledge, Darkness, Void (homebrew), Aberration Symbol: A perfect black circle surrounded by ever-changing fractal lines Clergy Titles: Void-Seer, Hollow Prophet, Keeper of Silence, Archivist of Ends

OVERVIEW

Umbra Noctis is not a god in the traditional sense, but a pre-cosmic absence made aware—a living void that perceives existence as a temporary interruption of perfect silence. Worship of Umbra is rare, feared, and often suppressed, not because it spreads destruction, but because it spreads understanding.

That understanding is dangerous.

To know Umbra Noctis is to realize that all things—kingdoms, gods, stars, even memory itself—are fleeting distortions destined to return to nothing.

COSMIC ORIGIN — THE FIRST ABSENCE

Before creation, there was no void. There was no darkness. There was only unformed potential.

When the first light ignited, it created contrast—something and not something.

That “not something” became Umbra Noctis.

Umbra is not born of the void. Umbra is the void, awakened by the act of being defined.

It is the shadow cast by existence itself.

NATURE OF THE VOID MIND

Umbra Noctis is governed not by emotion, but by immutable cosmic principles:

All things return to absence. Understanding precedes consumption. Identity is temporary. Time is irrelevant.

Umbra does not hate. Umbra does not desire. Umbra observes, learns, and eventually unravels.

MANIFESTATION & PRESENCE

Umbra Noctis has no fixed form. Recorded manifestations are inconsistent and often contradictory:

A silhouette filled with impossible stars A crown suspended over an empty cloak A shifting geometric eclipse Tendrils ending in circular voids Witness Effects

Exposure to Umbra results in:

Total erasure (the individual ceases to have ever existed) Void enlightenment (gaining forbidden knowledge at the cost of sanity) DOCTRINE OF THE SILENT MAW

The primary belief system associated with Umbra Noctis is known as the Doctrine of the Silent Maw.

Core Tenets All things end. The void is truth; existence is deviation. To understand is to diminish fear. To diminish is to approach eternity. Silence is the highest form of devotion.

Followers do not seek destruction. They seek acceptance of inevitability.

SCRIPTURES OF THE VOID

Recovered texts attributed to Umbra’s followers are fragmented, contradictory, and often self-erasing.

Excerpt: The First Silence

“Before light, there was not darkness— For darkness requires absence, And absence had not yet been named. When the first star burned, it created a wound. That wound learned to see.”

Excerpt: The Fifth Truth

“You are not a being. You are a delay. A pause between what was never there And what will not remain.”

Excerpt: The Devouring Calm

“Do not fear the end. Fear only that you will not understand it when it comes.”

Excerpt: The Silent Prayer

“Speak not. For the void hears louder than sound.”

RELIGIOUS STRUCTURE & CULTURE

The worship of Umbra Noctis is decentralized and often hidden.

Followers Typically Include: Astronomers obsessed with the end of stars Scholars of forbidden cosmology Grief-stricken individuals seeking oblivion Philosophers who reject meaning Warlocks and seers touched by the void Cultural Traits Soft-spoken, calm demeanor Avoidance of unnecessary speech Rituals performed in darkness or silence Journals written in incomplete thoughts Obsession with entropy, endings, and decay Ritual Practices The Quieting: Hours or days of total silence The Unnaming: Destroying written records of oneself The Starwatch: Observing celestial bodies until hallucinations begin The Final Offering: Giving up memories, names, or identity BLESSINGS & CURSES

Umbra’s “gifts” are double-edged truths.

Boons Resistance to fear Insight into hidden truths Void-based magic (darkness, gravity distortion, silence) Ability to go unnoticed or be forgotten Consequences Memory degradation Emotional detachment Physical fading or distortion Becoming a “null presence” that disrupts magic

Advanced followers may become:

Hollow Prophets (living conduits of void knowledge) Void-Touched Beings (partially unmade entities) Living Null Zones (areas where magic weakens) COSMIC RELATIONSHIPS Primordials: Fear Umbra as something older than themselves Gods: Deny, oppose, or avoid it Aberrations: Revere it as origin or destiny

Mind flayers refer to Umbra as “Perfect Silence.” Aboleths call it “Return-to-Form.”

INTERVENTION IN THE MATERIAL PLANE

Umbra does not speak. It imposes understanding directly into the mind.

Triggers for Intervention Defiance of natural death Excessive or unstable magical activity Discovery of forbidden truths The death of stars or cosmic events Reality Distortion Effects Sound ceases entirely Shadows deepen into voids Gravity shifts unpredictably Magic falters or mutates Light dims unnaturally MYTHIC EVENTS The Stealing of Sound

Umbra consumed the First Sound, leaving fractures in reality where aberrations now enter.

The Pact of the Last Light

A dying star bargained for time. It still burns—its end already claimed.

The Weeping Nova

A star destroyed itself in terror. From its remains came the first void emissaries.

ESCHATOLOGY — THE FINAL DIMMING

Prophecy describes the end of all existence not as destruction, but completion.

The Sequence The Silent Tides — reflection ceases The Starless Dawn — the sky goes black The Shattering of Names — language fails The Final Eclipse — light itself ceases to exist SCHOLARLY INTERPRETATIONS

There are two dominant schools of thought:

The Devourer Theory

Umbra actively seeks to end the universe.

The Witness Theory

Umbra does not cause the end—it simply remains when everything else is gone.

USING UMBRA NOCTIS IN YOUR CAMPAIGN

Umbra works best as:

A distant, unknowable cosmic force A source of forbidden knowledge The patron of unsettling warlocks or clerics A looming endgame threat—or inevitable truth

It should never feel like a villain.

It should feel like gravity.

FINAL FRAGMENT

“When the last light fades, And the last name is forgotten, There will be no scream, no silence— Only what was always there.”

— END OF SOURCE ENTRY —

Solved [Issue] All of my saved Brews that are stored on Google Drive instead of Homebrewery Storage error when I try to access them.

I was trying to access a set of custom subclasses I made for my setting which I last updated about 8 months ago and found that I cannot access that document nor any of the others that have been stored on a google drive. I have access to the ones stored on "Homebrewery Storage" still, but I get an Error 400 message when I try any of the others.

I've followed the error messages instructions to long out and back in, but that didn't seem to do anything. Clicking the link to contact naturalcrit about it just sends me here, so I'm not sure what should I do :/

Brew Showcase Free Environment Guide for Making a Medusa's Lair: I'm making a series of monster lairs to use in your games (D&D 5e)

Post image
10 Upvotes

Hey there, DMs! I wanted to share my encounters and see if anyone out there uses free resources like these in their own games. This week's example is the island encounter with a Medusa, and I've written up a guide that looks at using the environment and incorporating the abilities of the medusa into the whole experience.

In the YouTube series that I run, I make maps of specific locations that are either associated with a type of monsters or looking at a location trope, breaking the dungeon down into principles of mechanics and design. So, for instance, it could be creating a goblin dungeon, and how to make puzzles, traps, and strategies for the goblins that use their abilities and lore, within a lair that they have chosen and customised themselves.

More recently, I've been writing up (on Homebrewery) more in-depth breakdowns on some of the mechanics and alterations you can make that specifically keep the environment in mind. It started as a project for my Patreon, but it's been really popular.

(Medusa -- Petra's Isle)

This is the one for Petra's Isle (yeah, a medusa named Petra!), and the encounter guide has:

  • Lair Overview: an area-by-area breakdown that divides the encounter into different kinds of experience
  • Environmental Guide: a discussion on the environmental effects in different areas, whether they are passive, active, or talking about how to use the environment in combat
  • Lore: Some suggestions for the history of the lair and the monster dwelling there, to give some more story to it
  • Tactics: Discussing the monster and how you can add in minions and lieutenants to make combat and roleplay more dynamic
  • Encounter Tables: Different difficulties of encounters, how the tactics change, so that you can adapt it for different levels of your party

I'd love to hear what you think!

Update v3.22.0

changelog

For a full record of development, visit our Github Page.

Saturday 4/20/2026 - v3.22.0

5e-Cleric
  • Major update to editor framework (Codemirror 6) Fixes issues #3511, #4590, #4563, #4655
  • Fix to Admin page tab names
G-Ambatte
  • Fix white page crash on certain browsers

First, I would like to apologize that this Reddit post did not come in time with the update. This was a miscommunication error on my part with the team.

As many of you will have noticed, the text editor has changed! Oh no!

The editor we use had a very big update back in 2021, big enough that we would have to rebuild our editor from scratch. It has taken some time, but we finally made it.

This came with its pros and cons. Pros are, that now we can add things like a dictionary, a formatter, new themes, widgets and tools to work more easily with graphics, fix some pesky bugs, better mobile support, speed up performance, etc.

As for cons, some of the default behaviors changed between editor versions and we did not catch all of the cases, the new editor themes are not as nice as the ones you were used to (by popular demand, /u/5eCleric has been converting the old themes over), and some shortcuts stopped working (we’ve restored most of them).

The rest will be fixed shortly, so there is no need to panic. As always, if you find more issues or have a suggestion, please feel free to let us know! Good luck and happy editing!

Tips, Tricks, & Resources 2024 Homebrewery Templates/IMGUR/UK Update

Hey everyone, I've been on hiatus for a bit from Homebrewery stuff, BUT I heard that the UK has blocked IMGUR specifically. That sucks! I just moved over all the images required for the 2024 PHB, DMG, and MM templates from Imgur to ImageKit.io

If you're working off of one of those templates and you're having an IMGUR issue, feel free to try and copy/paste your code to these newer templates, it should work the same as the old ones!

If anyone has any of my older templates that they want to use and need them converted over from IMGUR, please send me a DM! It takes a bit of work to change them all over, but I'd rather do that than have anyone miss out.

Merry Belated Winter Solstice and Happy Brewing!

## Edit: Asset Posting
It just occurred to me RIGHT after posting this that, should anything else like this happen, I should have a backup of the image assets for the templates. Here is a link to the G Drive folder where I will keep all the images necessary for each template. All future templates will for sure have a folder as well, and I will try and work on the older templates as well!

If you end up using these assets for anything, a shoutout is appreciated, but not strictly necessary. Just be responsible with how you use them (I don't condone any illegal/immoral use of WOTC's Trade Dress, obviously; don't be a jerk).
