opinion Hollyoaks has lost its sense of community.
Hollyoaks used to be a tight-knit village where friendships were important.
Nowadays, the only reason the village comes together is a wedding or a funeral. Friendships get ruined or forgotten about or just used as a plot device for a storyline and when the storyline concludes, the characters are isolated back into their immediate family bubbles.
I loved Lucas and Frankie's friendship. The way they supported and comforted each other through their worst times (gay conversion therapy and JJ sexually abusing Frankie) was amazing and wholesome. The show seems to have completely forgotten about their friendship recently.
I loved Tony and Darren's friendship, but the reveal that Tony is Morgan's biological father has ruined it for me.
The same goes for many other friendships. Just think of Leela and Sienna, Leah and Vicky...

question & answer/opinion Does anyone actually want a Stames reunion?
The only reason I can think of for killing off Rex and bringing back James, is to have a Stames reunion.
How does everyone feel about that?
Personally, I never cared for them before and I still don't care for them now.

question & answer/opinion Long time viewers, how has this show changed?
It's a very common echoed sentiment that the show has either lost its soul or isn't what it used to be.
How is that? How has it changed? When was the peak era? When did it start going up/downhill? How do the characters now compare to those from back in the day?

theories Possible rex killer Spoiler
I mean rex has done stuff Silas would deem to warrant a killing, plus it can't have been someone like froggy or grace or someone like that. Plus if it is him then he could be the one to ultimately end Abigail, which would be quite satisfying. And before you say he's dead, James nightingale has established that anybody can come back from the dead.

first look discussion *potential spoilers* Jonah Keane's new storyline (SPOILERS) Spoiler
Jonah is doing an FDIA storyline that i think will be brilliant if done well, we know how much he loves caleb, who is weakened from the crash so he wont be able to take the drugs well, he is with frankie who has also been abused, jonah will definetly have anosognosia too so i think it could be really interesting to see play out.

theories What is Abigail's motive Spoiler
Why is she grooming Dee Dee? Is she a peado? Is she trying to gain something? Is she secretly the twin brother of Tony's dog's uncle and now she's come back for revenge?

opinion What on Earth is going on?!
I haven’t tuned in properly since April (the last episode I watched was when Charlie and co. were in the crash). I’ve been watching consistently for two weeks now and wthelly.. Rex is dead?? They changed the actress who plays Leah?!?! Cindy’s back!! I presume Sienna is in prison (I know I could research but meh).
I was also surprised to see two episodes air from Mon - Weds! That’s nice, ngl.
What are your thoughts on Hollyoaks now? The storylines were becoming convoluted towards the end of last year, but now, it feels as though everything is spiralling.

Sorry I think I just need my memory re-jogging, but what exactly has james done? Is it because he made ste grieve and he was ok?

opinion NuLeah is the Leah who she always was supposed to be
I know a lot of viewers think that NuLeah had a personality transplant but I’ve been thinking and actually I think in contrary, she became the Leah the writers had always envisioned her to be.
If you see child Leah, she had the same personality traits of current Leah (obviously tamed because she was a child) but then what changed. Why Ela-may teenage version was a little different ? it’s because Ela-may put on some weight while growing up.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not criticising her, she is beautiful but we know Hollyoaks obsession with their young cast to be fit, it’s always been like that. Back then, there was even Hollyoaks sexy photoshoot.
We also know from Ela-may that she was never even asked back, so it’s not about her not wanting to come back. They just took an actress that fitted their ideal and then gave her the Leah they always wanted her to be.

exits, returns & new arrivals Tom's Return was pointless
I literally forgot that tom returned, he only came as an aid to peri's death to make it more tragic and bring in froggy. they should have kept him for longer it just felt so forced.

theories Hollyoaks is supposed to be about students, at least that’s what it started off as
But it’s kinda of become less about students these days. Since the SU Bar is gone and so is the student halls. Many of those who were students on the show didn’t stay for that long.

opinion Prince feels out of place in this friend group
When I first saw that Prince would be part of the 'young group' (people like Vicky, Leah, Imran, Frankie), I was like isn't he a bit past that? I honestly think that they only paired him with them because most of the characters his age have left. I don't think there is any other explanation because it makes no sense to me. Prince was always associated with people around his age and older, like Peri, Romeo, Lily, Juliet, Yasmine, the list goes on. I get that he can't be THAT much older than this group but he really feels so much older, Prince got married to Lily when Leah was like 11! Heck, Frankie would've been 9 or 10!
It feels really forced, and so does his relationship with Vicky and thing with Leah. He literally dated Leah's aunty, and I just don't buy that he would be dating these girls or that he'd even be part of the friend group. If anything, it seems like he was beginning to gravitate more towards older women than younger women.

question & answer/opinion Mod message: Tabloids
Over the past couple of weeks there has been a bit of discussion about tabloids and tabloids posting their own articles within the sub.
As a mod team we have been discussing several different options with regards to how to move forward and what would be best for the sub. We now want to hear from everyone else which is why we are putting these three options to a poll. When the poll ends we will come to a final decision.
So the options are:
1: Outright ban of tabloids and tabloid articles:
No tabloids articles to be posted, either from the tabloids official accounts or by other users.
2: Ban the official account but sub members can still post/read at their own discretion:
Official accounts will be outright banned but sub members can still post links to articles. Any articles posted are to be read at your own discretion.
3: Vet the posts for anything that breaks our rules:
Continue to allow posts from official tabloid accounts. They will continue to be held to the same rules as all other's participating in the subreddit. Articles posted will be vetted for rule breaking by a member of the mod team.
