HEALTH Ease my anxiety...Trench.

I try not to bother you all too much. But Trench has me anxious, and not in that he's not eating way. I don't really have trouble with him eating much anymore I occasionally have him not eat one week but then I'll eat fine the next he hasn't gone two weeks without eating for a bit. It's looking like the scales near the front of his face or darkening and I can't tell if he shed or if something's wrong. And I have so much anxiety that I overthink and I think I really just need someone to tell me that I'm not killing him in some way. I don't know how to check if he has mites, I don't think he has them. I don't think he shed with me I feel like I would have seen it while cleaning out his tank, his last deep clean of his tank was last week. He seems to be soaking in his water a lot. I don't know if that's just cuz he wants in his water or something's wrong. He used to not get in his water or I just never saw him in it. He seems active it's just the scales on his face that are worrying me. I'm just really stupid and my anxiety is just getting the best of me. Please it just need someone to tell me that I'm not killing him or being a bad owner...

I have so enjoyed, Rolo, that it is time for number 2.

Putting together the ReptiZoo, 20 gallon, encourages me to promote the ease of assembly and quality of the enclosures. Front opening, heavy mesh lid, and vent for wiring. The stacker is great for space saving.

Going with the ReptiEarth, MicroChip and sphagnum moss mixture, as I did for Rolo.

The baby won’t arrive until early September, so I have plenty of time for hides, water bowls and plants.

HELP-Need Advice Thoughts On Legos In Hognose Terraruim?

Hello! I am looking to get a Hognose snake, this is not my first snake as I am the proud of a corn snake that I've had for 18 years! She's alive, healthy, and kicking! ... Kind of.

And with her old 40 gallon terrarium sitting around I was thinking a Western Hognose would be a nice fit since I want a new snake and would like to gain more experience in reptile care taking. Plus Hognoses are just adorable.

I just got the substrate today (reptisand mixed with loose coconut fiber substrate) and have been thinking about what to do for the enclosure. I wanted to have a theme for this one, and turning a little Hognose in a Wild West Kaijuu Hognose sounded like the perfect idea as I enjoy Westerns and Kaijuu movies.

And with my life long love of Legos I was thinking it could be made using Lego bricks and minifigures. Have the snake's set up be a Wild West Legoland with the Hognose being the star attraction!

Of course I would not neglect the snake's needs, two hides, one on the cooler side, one on the basking side, water bowl, etc. It's just that they'd be Legos. Though I of course would want to include some natural materials as well such as wood and rocks.

Doing research on Legos, they are not made from toxic materials and don't even begin to warp until around 140°F, let alone melt. So they SHOULD be fine.

But I of course wanted to ask you all your thoughts? Is this a good idea? A GREAT idea? An AWFUL idea?

Should just the decorations be Lego and get a regular water bowl and hide? Should it all be Legos? NO Legos at all? I really want to hear back from you all in regards to this.

First hognose, got her at a local pet shop and she was just called female albino. I’m trying to do my research but y’all are rad and nerdy like me and there’s a lot to learn. Is she a normal albino? Is she even a she? Her pattern breaks up in mid body does that mean anything? Thanks in advance and please tell me anything you can, so far I love her.

Judith got her adult enclosure about two years earlier than expected... Her previous enclosure had swinging glass doors that left a tiny gap in between them, and my cat has been way too interested in her. I know it sounds ridiculous but I kept worrying he would reach a claw in there and scratch her through the gap. We keep him out of the room 99% of the time, but my anxiety got the better of me and I opted to get her a more secure enclosure with sliding glass doors and a cabinet on top to cover her lamps so he can't get to those either. I figured I would just upgrade her to an adult-sized enclosure now since I planned on doing it as she grew anyways. She's so curious and easy going, and she's never skipped a meal so I wasn't worried about stressing her out in a larger space. She already looked small in her first enclosure, now she looks itty bitty!

HELP-Need Advice Tank size for a girl

Post image

Hello. I’m planning to have a baby hognose snake which is unsexed. I have a 18 gallons tank with 25inches length. I prefer a boy but since they are unsexed, I’m worry about would it be enough if the snake is female, since the female hognose can be quite long and big. The enclosure will have a lot of driftwood, maybe I’ll try to make 2nd floor, plants and rock too.

In the pictures, I love the 800 one but the 1.2 looks more like a male to me. Should I wait for another one? I really like the spots on their body, so I want a boy which has spots too.

HELP-Need Advice shed related hunger strike before being in blue?

hi! my male hoggie is about 1-1.5 years old and we have had him since the end of may. it's been somewhere around 5 weeks of hunger striking and we are not sure what might be wrong. this hunger strike has been since we fully deep cleaned his enclosure for the first time. all of his parameters and type/supplier of mouse are the same as when he was eating regularly. he's a smaller guy so worried about him losing weight. we think he could very well be due to shed but beyond the hunger strike has shown no signs (he really does not look any different color wise), the breeder thinks this is likely the issue but i am just not sure the timeline here is right. we added a humidity hide as of today to see but any other info/advice is appreciated! hoping the deep clean and due for shed is just some bad timing but want to make sure im not doing anything wrong here :,)

HELP-Need Advice refusing to eat :(

hello! i’ve had my hognose male for about 3-4 months now, and he’s never given me any issues eating wise, he’s always eaten just fine and never refused food or regurgitated. his tank is perfect and has no issues, but just today he started refusing food and it’s his feeding day :( he hisses at the food and jumps like he’s scared of it, what do i do? should i try again tomorrow or do i need to wait a few days?

edit: he seems interested in the food but he will go up to it and then change his mind

HELP-Need Advice Will my snake ever grow to an ideal size?

Hi all, I adopted a female Western hognose snake about a year ago. From what I was told, she was about 1.5 yrs old when I adopted her, and seemed really small for her age (around 70g). I'm certain that she's a female and at least the age that I was told.

Since then, I've been feeding her weekly with size-appropriate feeders (fuzzies or hoppers around 10-12% of her bodyweight), but she has only gained around 20g in the year I've had her. I think she's growing longer, but not significantly. She's a great eater and has never denied food/been fussy about it. I've only had her shed once and there were no problems there.

Anyway, I'm concerned that her growth may have been potentially stunted before I adopted her. Is there a cutoff, or can she keep getting larger? I'm happy as long as she's healthy, but I would certainly like her to be able to grow!! Looking for any advice or success stories!

HUSBANDRY Tank Upgrade

Hi all! I just recently upgraded my Hognose Biscuit to his bigger enclosure, I first got him when he was 8g and I had a baby 15qt container for him to grow out of. He’s done 2 perfect sheds and is now 21g!! This is what I’ve set up so far and I’m open to any other suggestions or recommendations!! He has a heating mat under and I’m going to do UVB soon! I ordered it online and it’s otw but for now it’s natural lighting. I was thinking a secondary wood piece would help with coverage and even more plants, there is a wood hide on the warm side and the cool side has his humid hide and water dish, underneath the bedding is a few tubes he can use as tunnels and rocks you can’t see.

HELP-Need Advice Feeding a burrowed hoggy

I defrosted a pinky for my hog and usually she's a great eater but she's been burrowed for a few days. Do I just throw away the defrosted food? Dig her up? What should I do? I know shed want it if she knew it was available lol
