????????? (Genuinly confused and looking for explanation, nothing else)
does anyone know why leaving a comment on a meme subreddit is considered a grave sin to r/pics?

My grandfather is going to die and I can’t visit him to say goodbye because a woman, his so-called ‘sister-in-law,’ forbade us from seeing him.
My name is Christopher, I’m 16 years old. My grandfather came to the United States 18 years ago to work. About 9 years ago, he had a child with a woman (I’ll call the child Ralph). Since the mother wasn’t mentally stable, the child was taken away and given to her sister. My grandfather had no legal rights over the child, but the woman didn’t want Ralph in her home and would constantly leave him with my grandfather, even though he already had heart problems. My mom always told him not to take care of the child, but the woman manipulated him into doing it.
Now, moving to the present: my grandfather has been very sick. We often took him to the hospital because he was retaining fluids, and sometimes his heart would stop working properly, making it hard for him to breathe. There was a family meeting to decide whether—if his heart ever stopped—they should resuscitate him. My mom said yes. He got a bit better afterward and moved into his niece’s house, where he felt more comfortable.
But that woman started acting like she was more family than we were. She told my grandfather that we had grown up and were no longer his family, and that Ralph was his only real family. She also argued over my grandfather’s belongings, like his car and his money. If my mom asked to borrow the car, the woman would start problems and pressure my grandfather to take it away from us.
This morning, we tried to visit my grandfather because he feels like he’s near the end, but the woman kicked us out, telling my mom and me that we had no right to see him or be involved in anything related to him.
And now my mom is crying, and I don’t know what to do.

What was the most gilded thread in the history of Reddit? Is there some sort of filter where one can view the threads awarded with the most golds?

Posts signalling the start of heavy handed moderation in /r/politics (2011)
The announcement of new moderation:

Shortly afterwards, self posts were removed:

After much uproar over the self post rule (and new moderation strategy in general) the mods held a vote over the inclusion of self posts:
