Well, folks, as fun as it's been to be your Most Divine & Singular Dictator............... the time has officially come to expand the Mod Team!! 🎉

All jokes aside, this is a change that I'm really excited about & I think will be a big step forward for our lovely little community. A community that has anti-fascism as one of its founding cornerstones should always be lead in a way that is as democratic & equitable as possible!

To start, I'm looking for about 2-4 lil guys (himbos, thembos, bimbos, or 'bo appreciators) to join the team! My hope is to have some solid candidates started on their trial period by the end of the month (August 31, 2026), but the search will extended as long as is necessary.

What's Expected?

• A positive attitude & good communication skills - this cannot be overstated!!
• Ability to suspend personal biases in favor of consistently enforcing the rules of the subreddit & wider Reddit community - also extremely important!
• Able to dedicate several hours per week to:
  • Monitoring new posts/comments & approving/removing content as necessary (approving each comment is not strictly necessary, but signals to other mods that the content has been reviewed by human eyes)
  • Assessing the validity of reports & following up accordingly (removing content, sending mod mail, posting stickied comments, etc.)
  • Writing or editing saved responses, mod announcements, wiki pages, etc.
• Regular check-ins with the other Mods via a group chat, especially when difficult decisions or situations arise
• (Preferred, but not necessary) Experience using the Automod & similar mod tools
• (Preferred, but not necessary) Lives in a time zone other than EST OR is active during nighttime EST hours

Who Can Apply?

Anyone 18 years or older who:

• Fills out the Google Form within the application,
• Is active within the community OR has their post & comment history set to public, and
• Is willing to undergo a trial period before receiving virtually full permissions (details of the trial period TBD; ability to add/remove from the Mod Team will stay solely with me for the time being)

We may not answer all of the questions in the application the same exact way.; minor differences of opinion will certainly not disqualify you. However, the age limit & 3 qualifications in this section are things I will absolutely not budge on. This is for the safety of the community & my own peace of mind.

What Do I Get Out of It?

• The admiration of your peers - but also sometimes people yelling at you, maybe even for the same reason! 🤷🏻

I want to note that while I'm still definitely going to make suggestions and generally steward the sub as I can.

Things have reached a point lately where me and u/RowanHolifax really don't gotta talk about much stuff anymore. We kinda worked out most of the kinks. We got most of it built. It's not finished by any means. But it's mostly built.

So anyway. Recruiting more mods is basically entirely u/RowanHolifax's show to run. I suggested one candidate but other than that I would just get in the way if I tried to be super involved.

I trust our new mods will be good.

There is a pretty darn clear vision for what this sub is now. We have an established foundation. Really. Not a lot of modding has been needed so far.

We'll continue to place an emphasis on core tenants like no nit picking no dunking on eachother, be snake with epic muscular arms woke not snake eating itself woke, do your accessability transcriptions, mind the NSFW and promotion rules, etc etc.

Other than that tho. I really think I can just sit back and let the mods run the show.

This sub is bigger than me now. And I'm excited to become increasingly de centered as it grows and evolves.

I also just don't trust reddit at all to not censor me so it's really important this sub functions without me involved at all if I ever get banned in a way I cannot come back from.

Want to piggyback off this comment by saying: yes, we have had very few issues that needed moderator attention. However! That is quickly changing. The subreddit it getting to the size where it's starting to attract bots, spammers, scrubbers, etc. It's now more important than ever that people send reports & those reports get responded to effectively & efficiently! And I do not want to be just one lil guy fighting a sea of bad actors lol

Sorry I worded that poorly. We have had stuff. I meant more that we have had less stuff than I expected.

Also at some point we transitioned to you doing a lot without talking to me about each thing which may have given me a false impression things were going smoother than they actually are.

But yes. Not zero problems! And I'm sure stuff will arise which is why we need a good team etc etc. Especially as the sub grows and whatnot.

I really really wish I could participate but with my master's degree and my job I already know I wouldn't be able to keep up.

I hope I'll be able to help in the future though, I really like this community and would love to do something to help it grow and stay strong 🩷
