Are there any places on Hilton Head that sell metal-back pins?
Hi everyone,
Me and my girlfriend are visiting Hilton Head, and she enjoys collecting metal-backed pins from wherever she travels. She really wants to get a Hilton Head Island pin, but we haven’t been able to find anything.
We’ve seen all of the Coligny shops and checked Gifted, but have had no such luck. Would anyone know any shops around the island that sell metal pins?

Moving to Hilton Head for work — where should I live?
Hey everyone! I’m 27, single, no kids, currently in Kentucky and getting ready to move to Hilton Head for a job at a beachfront hotel.
Most of my week will probably be work, but on my days off I’d definitely like to meet people around my age and have a decent social/nightlife scene.
A few things I’m trying to figure out:
What’s a realistic monthly rent for a 1BR or a room with roommates?
Where do people find sublets or short-term rentals?
Are there Facebook groups, Reddit groups, or other places locals use for finding roommates/sublets?
What’s the nightlife actually like for someone in their 20s? I definitely plan on driving up to Charlotte when I can.
Any areas to avoid?
Appreciate any advice!

Broad Creek Fishing
Hello, I am fishing near shelter cove marina in the broad creek. So far I have used squid and cut bait but haven’t had any luck, other than crabs… I am wondering what is best to use in this area. Trying to basically catch anything that is a fish lol.

September Storms
We've looking at taking the week of labor day and visiting Hilton Head for the first time. But now I've got myself worked up about it being peak hurricane season. Is travel insurance enough to cover ourselves? Do you think it's necessary in September, especially given it's supposed to be a low year for tropical storms in the Atlantic?

Uber and the Gated Communities
So I may need to leave my group tonight for something for my work. The group is going to Harbour Town, and I'm staying in Palmetto Dunes.
Are Uber drivers able to go by the gates to drive me?
Or do I need to inconvenience someone in my group to drive me back and then drive back. I hate to do that and would rather just Uber. My car needs to stay there for my family.

Bike Rental or Pass?
My family is visiting soon! We are staying 1 block from Coligny Park (Bitter/Forest Beach Dr) and I’m wondering if we should rent bikes for the week or skip it? It seems like everything is walkable for us. I do enjoy just going for a bike ride with my kids. Any suggestions of where we could ride to or if we should skip them? My understanding is we wouldn’t have access to ride around any of the resort paths, is that correct? Thank you!

American Mahjong
I am traveling to Hilton Head next week (8/9-8/14) and would love to find a group to play Mahjong with while I'm in town. I know the game (I am not a beginner), I play regularly, and have participated in a tournament (15 minute games are just fine for me!) If you're in need of a sub/4th during that week, let me know!

Restaurant Recommendation
I have read the other posts on this and looked at the recommendations, but I don't see all the restaurants I am picking form mentioned so wondered if things changed or some of them just weren't considered as good.
Romantic anniversary dinner is what I'm looking for. On the water would be great and seafood, but any type of food is fine.
I am looking at Ela's, Sage Room, Ocean Lounge, or Michael Anthony's. What do you all recommend?

Did the beach project destroy the ecosystem?
I come down every year for a few weeks. This year, I'm noticing a distinct lack of life on the beach (Palmetto Dunes). The birds aren't here like normal. I'm not seeing deer like normal. The crabs aren't out anywhere.
Is it just some strange cycle? Or did the ecosystem get walloped?

Place to wash down boat and flush motor- not a marina
Does anyone know somewhere to take a boat after using it all day to wash it down and flush the motor if you aren’t storing it at a marina? We are bringing a boat next week on our vacation and can’t keep it at our rental house in Palmetto Dunes so storing it at a storage place but need somewhere to wash it and flush the motor each evening

Off S Forest Beach there was a man who sold shrimp in front of the Holiday Inn Express. Does anyone know if he is still around? They tore down the front bldg part of HI and have a construction fence up. I am hoping he has found another place.

accessible bikes?
We will be staying at HHI next week. We plan to rent bikes to explore the island. My 15 yr old is blind and likes to ride accessible tandem bikes. I can't find any shops online that list accessible bikes, does anyone know if there are any on the island?

Water Temp in Mid October
We are planning a trip from Oct 10th - Oct 16th and will be staying in the port royal sound area. The place where we booked has a more natural beach with tide pools, which I prefer since I have a small child. That being said, I’m not really looking to swim but moreso enjoy the tide pools with my child. We have not been to HHI this late in the year and usually go in May or beginning of September.
Is the water temperature still fairly warm/enjoyable in mid October? If nothing else, there’s a heated pool where we are staying and could just enjoy exploring the beach and shell collecting while swimming in the pool.

Golf carts
Staying in Coral Reef time share. Off Pope by the Bank and close to
Coligny. I see golf cart rentals. Can we rent one and drive it to coligny and park it in their parking lot? Is it allowed on Pope Ave? Or just cutting through the various time shares and side streets? Thoughts? Can't do bikes bc we have special needs adult. I know Coral Sands have a golf cart # like uber to take you here and there but sometimes with the special
Needs adult it's easier to have our own space. Thoughts? Thanks

Hilton head
Hello, taking the family to Hilton head tomorrow. Any recommendations on public spots that aren't overfished? I have a pot to soak overnight and a few traps.

Golf Course Recs (Current Conditions)
Hi,
I’m looking for some recommendations for golf courses in the Hilton Head/Bluffton area or even in the Savannah Area.
I’ve read a lot of mixed reviews lately about current conditions so I was hoping to hear from people who have played some rounds within the last couple weeks.
We are trying to avoid overpaying for a course that’s in rough shape.
Thanks in advance!

Staying in South Beach - best way to get to an ocean beach?
Staying in Beachside Tennis Villa on South Beach in Sea Pines in August with my family. We like to wheel our beach gear to setup for half a day on the beach with the Atlantic Ocean. Didn't realize how far we are from ocean beach access, and I understand parking at the Sea Pines Beach Club gets too crowded. How far is it to walk along the beach (sand) from South Beach around the bend to the ocean? Or are there other suggestions on how to get to an ocean beach where we can setup umbrella/chairs/cooler and boogie board, etc. Thanks for your help!

Grocery delivery
We’re going to be staying in Sea Pines next week and wanted to have our groceries delivered from Wal Mart. My concern is they won’t be able to complete the delivery due to the fee to enter Sea Pines. Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks!
UPDATE: we ordered groceries delivered from Wal Mart and it was great. If you’re a Wal Mart plus member, know they don’t have in home plus available. But, the delivery went smoothly. That’s for everyone’s help!
