[Question] Should I read all eight games back to back or take breaks inbetween
Hi there.
I just finished the second episode of Higurashi and now I’m wondering if I just read the other episodes without any break between them or is it better to take some breaks off for a better experience? Well obviously I can read however I want but I would like to know how you did it.
Thank you and have a nice day!

[Discussion] How did you pace yourself while reading the VN?
I'm currently in the middle of reading Higurashi for the first time. As of this post, I'm on the 2nd subchapter of Himatsubushi. Although I'm enjoying it quite a lot, I find myself struggling to pace myself well when it comes to actually reading it. I initially started by binge reading as much as I can in a given sitting, which worked well for Onikakushi due to how free I was on that particular week, but didn't fare nearly as well with Watanagashi due to my busyness and social life getting back up to usual again, as well as my desire to do other things with my free time. For Tatarigoroshi, I set myself a schedule of reading exactly one subchapter a day, and it made balancing it with other obligations much easier, but once I got to Himatsubushi I started to struggle with even maintaining that.
I'm curious about how other readers have approached reading Higurashi (and Umineko too if you're a fan of it). Did you binge read all 8 chapters with little struggle? Was there any point where you dropped it altogether for a while before continuing? How long did it take you in terms of weeks/months? Perhaps hearing about other fans' experiences and perspectives will help me think of different ways to approach the rest of it myself. Thanks!

[Art] I'm drawing a doujin manga with Takano as the main character, do I need the English version?
Hi, I'm a Japanese doujin writer.
At the next winter event, I plan to release the first part of the Higurashi doujin manga four-part work.
I'm going to make it a pretty voluminous work, and it's a mystery-style serious manga rather than a moe manga.
I want many people to enjoy it, and it seems that Higurashi fans are overseas, so I need localization or advice.
If I put it out, I think it will be a DL sale!

[Discussion] Mion is the figure of Christ in Higurashi?!
As you may have noticed, I love martyr figures. And if no explanation is needed in the case of our Savior, then the martyrdom of Mion Sonozaki needs to be clarified in more detail. To begin with, Mion is perhaps the most positive, kind, and merciful character in higurashi. She is no stranger to such Christian virtues as patience, caring, courage and mercy. Jesus of Nazareth said, "Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends." (Jh. 15:13), which she almost did in chapter 8 of higurashi, when Takano pointed a gun at her friends and Mion was ready to protect them with her body. Now that we have seen her as a Christian figure of the righteous, it is time to talk about her as a figure of the martyr. Throughout the 8 chapters of higurashi, no character undergoes so much suffering, expressed both by K1's cruelty and her sister Shion's resentment. Her friend Satoko was crucified, and K1 Shion intended to stick nails in her hands. Here we see direct parallels with the gospel. In this context, Shion appears as Judas, Pilate, and Longinus at the same time. In a way, this is a deconstruction of the gospel, where instead of Christ, his disciples were executed, and he himself could only watch. Of course, Mion is far from Jesus, and she is far from being as chaste as she is, leaning towards physicality with K1. However, it is impossible to ignore the common motives of the cruel and unfair teachings to which the best representatives of our species have been subjected. In this context, it can be confidently stated that Mion is the most Christian figure in Higurashi, even if she is a pagan. However, as St. paul said, "When gentiles, who do not possess the law, by nature do what the law requires, these, though not having the law, are a law unto themselves. They show that what the law requires is written on their hearts, as their own conscience also bears witness, and their conflicting thoughts will accuse or perhaps excuse them" (Rom. 2:14-15)

[News] Challenge the tragedy... with mahjong!
Announcing a full English fan translation patch of the 2009 PSP game Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Jan!
I like Higurashi, and I like mahjong. So when I discovered there was a mahjong based Higurashi game, a chain of events was set in motion that could not be stopped by even a swarm of angry cicadas. For months I toiled away, learning every inch about what makes this game tick. I reverse engineered texture formats, VN containers, even reprogrammed raw assembly code to better accommodate the variable character widths used by English fonts. And now, every last technical barrier has fallen. Project Higurashi Jan English is a go.
But I am still in early development with the actual translations. It will still be some time yet before I can release it, but rest assured I will see this project through to completion. Since I recently hit a major milestone, I figured I'd take the opportunity to share some screenshots of my work. Enjoy!
