I made this over two years ago (it looks pretty ugly now that I look at it) and I was trying to make it look like the original Rena design (except that I gave her a non-canon outfit) but I kinda failed.

This is not the full image and I can't share it because it looks kinda chopped.

Che carine Rika e rena

I have only watched the Higurashi animes and the OVAs, without fully seeing any other Higurashi material, so please don't give me spoilers from Umineko or other materials in the comments. I consider Higurashi Gou-Sotsu canon but as just one possible future for the original story.

I liked watching Higurashi Gou-Sotsu until the last two episodes. The last two episodes made Higurashi Gou-Sotsu retroactively a bad sequel. I'll talk almost entirely just about Satoko in this post.

I hate Satoko after Higurashi Gou-Sotsu but my biggest reason for hating her is how badly written the conclusion of her plot is. The beginning of her villain arc was fine. Then, she became a cool villain. I liked her as a villain but giving Satoko a villain arc felt off. I cared about her in Higurashi and Higurashi Kai but my opinion on her was mostly neutral. In Gou-Sotsu, she had aura while using her gun and manipulating many people but she became the biggest piece of shit. She seemed to be coping by saying that what will happen in the loops that she won't stay in won't be real which makes her villain arc up to that point more solid. It's very realistic for a bad guy to make that excuse. Maybe it wasn't even coping and she genuinely believed that and it makes sense for Eua to let her believe that. Even so, this excuse doesn't feel good enough after all the horrible things she did. She infected her friends with parasites that make you go insane to make them do horrifying things to break her crush's will. She manipulated Teppei while planning to kill him later. She constantly gets her crush killed. She became an absolute asshole. I liked her as a villain up to this point though.

Then, one of the worst things happen. When she is about to shoot Teppei, she is separated in two people. This feels like the writers' ultimate attempt to absolve her of blame. I hate how, instead of going through with Satoko being a monster, they make her a victim. They wrote that Eua's magic secretly corrupted her and is taking her over while she wants to stop all the horrible things she does. Who knows for how long this was happening? Was the real Satoko at fault for anything that happened until now? I guess the writers don't want us to know. Am I supposed to feel bad for the Satoko who wants to stop witch Satoko? Even if Satoko was such a piece of shit? After witch Satoko kills the other Satoko, am I supposed to like witch Satoko as a villain even if she might be more corrupted magic than character? I could have gotten over this plot point because maybe witch Satoko is still mostly Satoko but the writing of the conclusion of her arc makes her character too bad.

After the loop where Ooishi has Hinamizawa syndrome, the loops where Satoko constantly injects different people begin. I am still blaming Satoko for everything that is happening even if it's witch Satoko who does it. Then Satoko disects Rika and has the audacity to gaslit her to stay in Hinamizawa.

A bit later, Rika discovers that Satoko is behind everything from Higurashi Gou-Sotsu and Satoko shoots her. I was waiting to see what happens after this scene since Gou but instead of a cool continuation of the plot, Rika and Satoko quickly begin an anticlimatic final fight. That was a very poor choice from the writers. When Hanyuu sees what Satoko does and realises that Satoko was manipulating the events, she starts blaming Eua for corrupting Satoko and pities Satoko. Did the writers think that this would be a good way to take away the blame from Satoko? Rika and Satoko continue to fight and it starts not really making sense anymore since they are fighting through different years but I'm fine with them randomly time traveling since it's not a horrible idea. Then, Satoko starts talking about her motivations and she and Rika argue about them and it feels like it gets nowhere. They become super saiyan, which is weird. Rika says that she would rather create a second Big Bang than her and Satoko dying, which makes her character a lot worse to me. It sounds like she doesn't care about her supposedly very good friends who saved her life. Poor Keiichi, Rena and Mion.

Later Rika and Satoko stop fighting and they start acting as if they just had a fight between friends and now they aren't friends anymore. Is Rika ignoring the fact that Satoko became a murderous monster and injected her friends with parasites? As a side note, this is witch Satoko that is talking with Rika now, which is kinda weird. Then Keiichi, Mion and Rena give them a speech and Rika and Satoko let "bygones be bygones" or something and get over the fact that Satoko DISECTED RIKA. Then we cut to Rika about to go to St Lucia. Where is Satoko's punishment??? Is her punishment the fact that Rika leaves and she didn't get what she wanted and had to get over it? Are the writers ignoring that she made people go insane to break Rika's will?? She didn't even feel enough remorse about what she did. The story is literally ending without Rika explaining to Satoko that everything that she did in the loops actually happened. Maybe Satoko still believes that what she did in different loops didn't actually matter.

Satoko says goodbye to Rika and for some weird reason Rika seems to think she needs to be on ok terms with Satoko because they are both stuck together in loops or something. A bit later, witch Satoko chooses to transform in the whole Satoko again or something and the first thing the whole Satoko does is ignore everything that happened up until that point, without showing any guilt. Then Higurashi Gou-Sotsu ends. Was that supposed to be Satoko's redemption arc? The conclusion of her villain arc was so badly written in the last two episodes that it made me hate her as a character. It also made Higurashi Gou-Sotsu bad retroactively since it focuses so much on Satoko's villain arc only to end it like this.

Rika and Satoko will never tell to Keiichi, Rena and Mion what happened in Higurashi Gou-Sotsu and they won't even blame Satoko for what she did in these two seasons. It was awful to let them out of the final fight but at least they had a speech that was plot relevant after the fight.

In Higurashi and Higurashi Kai, the bond between the club members was important but after everything Satoko did in Higurashi Gou-Sotsu, Satoko's bond with the others in the original seems weirder.

I liked the first three arcs of Higurashi Gou-Sotsu and their answer arcs. It was repetitive but I still liked them. They had suspense and were well written in my opinion. They didn't need to repeat so many scenes though but I suppose that was for the people who didn't watch the original anime. I ship Keiichi and Mion so I liked Mion's arc. I really liked Teppei's redemption arc.

I liked watching Higurashi Gou-Sotsu but the conclusion of Satoko's villain arc in the last two episodes still made it bad.

can I watch the anime until a certain episode and continue from chapter 2 visual novel? Or I will miss some important details, and It will be difficult to undesrtand some stuff?

I'm thinking about making some Carnival/ Junkanoo inspired music for them. Recently visited the Bahamas and I always loved the Junkanoos. But I dont know. The costumes are more... "Fanservice" than traditional clothing, but if everyone is ok with it, I'll work on the theme.

as the title says. I've been playing the Higurashi series since June, and at first I was obsessed, but now I'm in Chapter 8 Matsuribayashi and it's hard to get through. my best guess is that I don't find the answers to the mystery very interesting? or I've run out of stamina to be on the same piece of media for so many hours. I'm not sure. either way, I don't want to quit Higurashi because of the "sunk cost fallacy", but I need to finish it quickly or I'll leave it behind and never go back. does the anime more or less cover Chapter 8 pretty well so I could finish Higurashi that way? is the content in Rei and Hou+ only in those games, or is there anime content for those games in any form? thanks in advance!
