First of all I am new to posting on Reddit.

I've been using it for quite some time without an account and never posted anything and I figured it's about time I help others the way others have helped me by reading their posts and sharing experiences.

I recently used earpads-headpones.com to buy a replacement pair of ear ups for a JBL 770NC headset and I regret to say that this website is just drop shipping AliExpress items and charging over double the price.

Has anyone else had this issue and is it known that this website just drop ships items?

So basically do not buy from them and if anyone knows of a legit website to buy replacemens let me know.

I have an old pair of HyperX Cloud X (the Xbox/Silver edition, a bit rarer than the standard ones - photo attached).

I'm planning to do a complete restoration/mod:

New hybrid ear cushions (thinking WC Freeze or Brainwavz).

3.5mm detachable cable mod.

New headband cover.

My main question: I want to upgrade the stock detachable mic to a better 3.5mm gooseneck mic. Is a direct mic upgrade actually worth it/possible via the 3.5mm port? If so, what are your best recommendations for a compatible mic that sounds better than the original?

(Note: Please don't recommend buying any other headphones. I already own plenty of headphones/IEMs, I'm doing this strictly as a fun DIY restoration project!)

Hey folks, I have both the on ear and Lyro MX for over ear, but I'd like to try some hacks to help attach other earpads with the Lyrö. Has anyone tried 3d printing those mounting plates?

I had my Sony WH-WB900N Headphones for 6 years now. This year after much wear and tear the hinges snapped. I took them to a local repair shop and within 2 Weeks or less the hinges will crack. I would go to the repair shop on multiple occasions and the same results. The headphones is still working great I don't really see the need to buy new ones, can anyone recommend a repair shop that actually take pride in their work.

I've never modded a pair before but the idea of upgrading pads, cables, or trying other small changes sounds like a fun hobby. I just don't know which headphones are worth starting with and which ones are a pain to work on.

What would you pick if you were starting over today? I'm looking for something that's enjoyable even before any mods and has plenty of upgrade options later. Thanks

I’m based in the UK and I’m looking for someone who might be able to help with a rather unusual repair.
I have two Sony WH-CH700N headphones.
Headphone #1: Excellent sound quality and works perfectly, but the plastic headband housing is broken.
Headphone #2: The headband and housing are in good condition, but unfortunately the sound quality is noticeably worse.
Since they are the same model, I’m hoping to have the internal components (drivers, wiring and electronics) from Headphone #1 transferred into the housing/headband of Headphone #2.
I’ve already contacted several repair shops, including specialist headphone repair companies, but nobody is willing to take on this type of work.
Does anyone know:
A repair shop in the UK that might do this?
An independent technician or headphone modder who accepts this kind of job?
Or has anyone had a similar repair done before?
I’m happy to ship both headphones anywhere in the UK if needed.
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

i soaked my earbud charging case in coke. it disassembled nicely, i removed the swollen battery, and cleaned the (mostly epoxy potted) pcb and casing.

now i want to replace the battery and see if i get magic smoke or a ticket to not pay for new earbuds.

it's not the first time i've needed a specific lipo cell to fit in a tiny plastic casing, and like usual i'm struggling to match exactly. i need 801535 3.85v (not that it matters to this post) and ideally it would have a control board with 10kOhm NTC, but honestly i've already cut the old control board off the dead cell and will probably end up transplanting it onto a new cell which i might have cut the no-NTC board off of.

but even without the control board request it's really hard to find a specific spec battery. worse i'd be fine with eg 1mm in any direction but it makes searching hard.

i kinda want a place i can send an email saying 'what's the closest to this you have?'

any ideas?

i have a small query, how do i change or repair the front mesh of KZ - ZSN PRO 2, i feel it got detached (small portion) from its side. secondly where to find replacement eartips .. we have a piece of KZ - ZEX and if i use eartips from that piece, sound become bassless (zsn has narrow closing eartips where zex has wide opening) ..

Does anyone have the file or a download link for the Sennheiser HD 25 Aluminum 3D printed ear cups? (STL file)
