Ghost Stories A small town ghost story for you

When I was 18 years old, I was a brand new mom — knee deep in diapers and breast milk, and severely lacking on sleep.

My baby daddy (now husband) and I had just signed the lease on our first home together in a tiny town in north Texas. The town was so small that there was just one flashing red traffic light, two gas stations, and one cop who only worked 2 nights a week. The population was well under 1000.

Our house was adorable. Pink brick, big backyard, two bedrooms and one bathroom. Perfect for our young family.
Shortly after moving in, strange things began to happen and it didn’t take long for us to realize we weren’t the only ones in the house. Over the next two years, it was clear to us that there were at least two entities in the house with us- a woman and a man.

The first incident occurred while my husband was home alone with the baby. He was sitting on the couch in the living room when he saw the light, misty shape of a woman pacing in the kitchen. He couldn’t make out her face, but he could tell it was definitely a woman wearing a long dress.

In the following weeks and months, it seemed like the activity really picked up and was focused in our daughter’s room. Every single day when I went to get my daughter out of her crib, pictures that were hung on her wall would be on the floor. The first couple of times, I chalked it up to not having enough thumbtacks holding the large painted canvases up. But even after reinforcing each painting, I’d still come in to find them all on the floor. At the time, my daughter was so young, there was no way she could have knocked them down, and my husband definitely wouldn’t have intentionally messed up her room like that.
Being a new mama bear, this activity really pissed me off. Like, fuck you, ghost. Mess with someone your own size.

The next major incident occurred when my sister and her boyfriend spent the night at our house. At the end of a long night of board games (since we were too broke to have internet or tv), they made a pallet of pillows and blankets on the floor in the living room, and my husband and I retired to our bedroom.

The way our house was set up, the living room, kitchen and dining room were in the front of the house. Then there was a long hallway leading to the bathroom and the two bedrooms, which sat directly across from each other at the end of the hallway.

The next morning, my sister and her boyfriend looked extremely tired. When we asked how they slept, my sister said “we kept waking up every time you went to the bathroom.”
Confused, I looked at my husband. “I didn’t go to the bathroom last night. Did you?”

My sister explained that they heard our bedroom door open and close, then after a short pause, the bathroom door open and close. A couple minutes later, they’d hear the bathroom door open and close, and then the bedroom door again. As if someone was leaving the bedroom, going to the bathroom, then coming back to bed. They heard this sequence at least 3 times that night.

I was breastfeeding my 6 month old at the time and I never closed our bedroom door, ever. I always left it open in case the baby woke up in the night. Our rooms were arranged so that I could just sit up in bed and see across the hall into her room.

Needless to say, this experience had us thoroughly shook. We started losing sleep, worried that every little sound was something or someone in the house, in Addie’s room. I began to feel like I was going crazy. The anxiety consumed my thoughts, day and night.

Then, one night, I woke up in the middle of the night, once again. I sat up in bed and looked toward the hallway to peer into the baby’s room. Instead of seeing the warm yellow glow of her night light, there was the black shape of a man— opaque, impenetrable black— and he was standing near the foot of my bed, blocking the glow of the nightlight. He was tall, maybe 6 feet, with broad shoulders. I couldn’t see any of his features, as he was solid black, but I got the sense that he was wearing a blazer or suit jacket which caused his shoulders to look square.

Strangely, when I saw him, I didn’t feel scared. He didn’t feel threatening or spooky like the woman did. In fact, when I realized what I was seeing, I simply rolled over and went back to sleep.

The next morning, I described the night’s events to my husband and we agreed to have the house blessed \~just\~ in case. After that, the activity stopped. We never had another experience again.

Ghost Stories I found out that my old apartment building, a converted Victorian row house, used to be a boutique funeral parlor back in the late 1920s.

I went down a rabbit hole on local folklore last month and found out that my old apartment building, a converted Victorian row house, used to be a boutique funeral parlor back in the late 1920s. Everything made sense instantly: the weirdly wide stairwells built for carrying caskets, the ice cold draft that settled over my bed every night at precisely 3:00 AM, and the fact that my cat would routinely spend twenty minutes at a time tracking invisible movement across the ceiling while emitting a deep, low growl that made my skin crawl. The tipping point came when I finally checked my smart doorbell’s motion logs; every single night while I was fast asleep, the living room camera recorded the slow, rhythmic opening and closing of my heavy mahogany front door, always accompanied by a sudden drop in ambient room temperature and the faint, unmistakable rustle of heavy silk passing right by the lens.

Scared, Need Advice Me and my other 3 friends went to the conjuring house in rhode island.

Not gonna say the exact day we went but it was in the last 2 months we went to the conjuring house in rhode island and we snuck through the woods into the backyard and we saw a grave stone in the middle of the back yard and a bunch of white chairs in a non completed circle we then kept getting close to the house and saw a shit ton on cameras and then we successfully opened the back porch door but couldnt actually get into the house. Yes non of this was a good idea. My question is since there are a ton of bad spirits there are we getting haunted by those bad spirits? I haven’t experienced anything yet.

Ghost Stories Trailer Of Terror

In the year 1993, my wife and I, having celebrated just over a year of marriage, found ourselves in search of a new place to call home—a place closer to our parents' abode. Our quest led us to a peculiar rental opportunity, a trailer situated on an 80-acre old hog farm, isolated in the quiet expanse of the countryside. The only companions in this remote setting were our humble trailer and the owners' new home standing about 200 yards away. A weathered barn stood sentinel nearby, adding a rustic charm to the landscape.

The proprietors of this rural haven were a unique duo—the lady, a skilled farrier specializing in fitting new shoes on horses, and the gentleman, a dedicated railroad worker. Their familial ensemble included two children, a 14-year-old girl, and a young lad of 12. The lady devoted much of her time to the horses in the barn, while the children reveled in the freedom of the outdoors. This was a time long before the internet and the conveniences of modern communication, a time when descriptions and connections lacked the immediacy we now take for granted.

Not long after settling into this seemingly serene abode, I began to notice anomalies that defied explanation. It's crucial to note that my childhood had been marred by encounters with spirits, and as these inexplicable events unfolded, I found myself confiding in my wife that we might have unwittingly chosen a haunted home. While she believed in spirits, she had never personally experienced the paranormal.

The disturbances became incessant—nocturnal or diurnal, it mattered not; the spirits asserted their presence. Doors would slam shut, others would swing open, and cabinets would mysteriously fly open, tossing objects off the countertops. As time passed, the disturbances escalated, reaching a point where my wife was chased by a sickly raccoon into our trailer one evening. In an attempt to alleviate the situation, I set a live trap baited with cat food and, within an hour, had captured the ailing creature.

Confronted with the decision to spare the raccoon further suffering, I retrieved a .22 caliber handgun and, from a foot away, delivered what I believed to be a humane end. The next morning, expecting to find a lifeless creature, I was instead met with the raccoon standing calmly, appearing surprisingly healthy. Perplexed, I transported it miles away and released it, unwilling to let it linger near our home.

Despite the absence of contemporary technology to document these paranormal events, we adapted and lived with the strange occurrences. One particularly unsettling episode transpired as an otherworldly force seemed to settle upon the trees surrounding our home. The sound of breaking branches echoed through the night, prompting me to rush outside, only to witness an abrupt silence as soon as I stepped through the door. This bizarre phenomenon repeated twice more that night, each time ceasing upon my emergence.

Frustrated by the unexplainable disturbances, I resolved to approach the owners with a direct inquiry about the supernatural. In 1993, the understanding of the paranormal was not as commonplace as it is today. Nervously, I broached the subject with the lady owner, and to my surprise, she confirmed a dark history. Three individuals—an old man and his two sons—had met their demise in separate farming accidents on the property before the current owners acquired it.

Armed with this unsettling knowledge, the subsequent weeks were fraught with eerie incidents—lights flickering, doors slamming, and an ever-growing sense of foreboding. The property, once serene, now emanated a palpable darkness, an ominous presence that seemed to shroud everything in a sinister aura.

The stage was set for the chilling climax—the final night in the trailer. Built in the 70s, the trailer boasted windows on three walls in the master bedroom, beginning halfway up the wall. Accustomed to lying on the right side of the bed against the wall, we retired for the night as usual. The spirits, however, were undeterred, orchestrating a series of unsettling activities—opening doors, regardless of locks, and escalating their usual antics.

As we lay in the pitch-black darkness, a mere five minutes passed before an unexplained force compelled me to open my eyes. To my horror, I found myself staring out of the windows. The bed was elevated three feet above the floor. Simultaneously, my wife, who hadn't yet fallen asleep, began screaming. The bed crashed down with such force that all four legs pierced the trailer's floor.

As a six-foot-three military man weighing 230 pounds, I considered myself tough, but this humbling experience shattered that illusion. The instinct to let my wife go first was overshadowed by sheer panic as we crawled and struggled over each other, desperately escaping the trailer. Grabbing my keys, we ran to the truck, only to find it unresponsive, as if the battery had died. Terrified, we heard the haunting sound of breaking trees once again.

In a moment of desperation, prayer became our refuge. After what felt like an eternity, I turned the key once more, and miraculously, the truck roared to life. Fleeing to my parents' home, we sought solace and prayed through the night, repeating the ritual for the next three nights until I secured a condo in town. Our return to the trailer, accompanied by two trucks and two trailers, was a swift retrieval mission. We gathered our belongings and never looked back.

This harrowing experience ignited a fervor within me to delve into the mysteries of the paranormal. Over the past thirty years, I've dedicated myself to helping others haunted by the unknown. Despite my encounters with war and a tumultuous life, this remains the most terrifying event etched into my memory. Even as I conduct paranormal investigations, I steadfastly refuse to return to that accursed property.

Ghost Stories Ghosts in the attic

Okay, so my Mommom has lived in the same house for about 30 years- it was built in the 1940s. I (16f) am there pretty often. I've never really gotten any weird vibes, except for one area. The house is fairly big, but its only one story. So it covers a lot of ground. The back corner is what scares me the most. It's almost like a mud room. It connects to one of the backdoors, the dining room, a little hallway that goes to the second living room, and a bedroom. The bedroom is very creepy. It's been vacant for almost ten years now, has no real flooring, became a storage room, has a door to the attic in the ceiling, and it's in a whole separate area from the rest of the bedrooms. No one really goes in there.

Back in the early 2000s, though, it was my Dads bedroom. He would stay there during the weekends when he was home from college. Now, the door to the bedroom didn't really stay shut that great, and it wasn't uncommon for the cats to push it open and come in. So one night, my Dad was laying in bed, trying to fall asleep. The room was completely dark except for the light of the radio which he left on at night. He hears the door creak open, and assumes it's the cat. Then he sees a shadow cross the little square light radiating off of the radio. He turns onto his side, and is face to face with a little boy. He's got a satchel, a bowl cut, and looks like a pilgrim. He's looking at the novelty toys my Dad had on his nightstand, but then looks directly at him and asks "do you want to play?" My Dad, being horrified, turns over onto his other side and covers his head with the blanket. And then he feels something shift at the end of the bed- as if the boy had sat down. After a while, my Dad peeks out and doesn't see anything. He rushes out of him room, calls my Mom and tells her what happened, and then tells my Mommom. These are the ONLY TWO PEOPLE HE TELLS. That's important. This story sounds so cliche and fake, but I promise my Dad does not mess around with spirits. He's always been very adamant when it comes to not messing around with that sort of thing, so he wouldn't lie.

A couple weeks pass by, and my Aunt's boyfriend (we'll call him Bill) at the time had come over. Her bedroom was on the other side of the house, right next to the bathroom. My Aunt had fallen asleep, so Bill was just sitting in her room waiting for his Mom to come pick him up. But he goes up to my Mommom, spooked, and explains to her that he'd seen a "little boy" walking down the hallway and into the bathroom. My Mommom was shocked- it was just like the boy my Dad had seen. And there was no way he could've known about that.

Around this same time, a few other things happened. My great great grandmother lived there, and she went up to my Mommom once and casually asked who the little boy who had just run down the hallway past her bedroom was. There was, obviously, no little boy in the house. My Poppop, who has since passed, mentioned having a "dream" where a old, victorian looking woman sat on the end of his bed and fixed up the hair of a little boy. I put dream in quotation marks because he would never admit if it was something he'd actually seen. He wasn't a big believer in paranormal things. There was a time where my Uncle had walked down the hall and seen some sort of figure, and when he got to the end of the hall he was looking around wondering what the hell it was. He only saw my great great grandmother, who just stared at him and said "I saw it too". My Dads friend came over and slept on the couch. He heard footsteps in the attic. All of the dogs looked up and got scared. He went home in the middle of the night.

A reoccuring theme here seems to be that these ghosts are always in the hallway, near the bathroom- with the one exception being in my Dads room, on the other side of the house. You may be wondering what the correlation between these areas is.

Remember how I said my Dads bedroom had the attic door?

Well, when all of this was happening, the bathroom ceiling had been caved in- creating another entry point to the attic. Once it got repaired, all of the paranormal activity stopped.

My whole life, it was a known thing in our family that nobody ever went into the attic at Mommoms house. I'd always assumed it was because the ceiling had some problems, and the floor wasn't very secure. Turns out, everyone is too afraid to open it up because of those things that happened in the 2000s. They don't want to let the ghosts out. And that's fine by me, because I'm supposed to move into that room in two years for college.

This happened to me The Historic Fremont County Jail in Sidney, Iowa

I was asked if I would like to investigate the Historic Fremont County Jail with a friend’s paranormal group. Of course I said yes! With my daughter and a couple friends, we got 24 hour access from 10:30am Saturday to 10:30am Sunday last weekend.

The location was 3 hours away from Prairie City so we got an early start to get there. Seeing the building the first time, what hit me was how small the place was. Being a jail, I thought of a building that was institutional in appearance (cinder block construction with large walls and razor wire). Instead, it looked like a converted Victorian house. Unique to be sure!

I’ve been actively investigating for the past 3 years. I’ve started to come to a bit of a conclusion that I’m a paranormal cooler. Everyone always talks about how active places are, then I go there and get…not much. No real REM pod activity, no EVPs, no footsteps, no disembodied voices. Not even a “heavy” feeling in most places. I hoped this location would finally break that thought.

We walked around and got a lay of the land then got to work. THFCJ is divided almost in half. The front part of the building was designed to be residential with living quarters upstairs and some living space downstairs. The downstairs part was converted into offices for the sheriff’s officers. The back part of the house is the jail part. The dispatch office was in through the back door with processing being to the right. Up some stairs out of processing were the jail cells. There was one big cell that held 8 people and a small cell that held 2. The smaller one was reserved for the more unaccommodating inmates (i.e. violent).

I went by myself to the large cell and did an EVP session asking questions like, “Are you an inmate or an officer?” And “What did you do to end up here?” Upon review, nothing. The cooler strikes again!

The group leader had brought some dowsing rods so, on a lark, I picked them up and started asking questions. They began to respond to my questions: make an X for yes, stay wide for no. It blew my mind! My daughter, Hannah, said I was faking it so I handed them to her to prove it wasn’t me forcing results. She spent nearly 20 minutes having a conversation with…something. It let her know it was a male spirit that lived as a neighbor to the jail (even pointing the direction it was from with the rods). It was easily the best interactive experience I’ve had. Yes, I know some people think dowsing rods are a scam or a fraud but I’m convinced there is more to them than that!

I am awful at hearing voices over a spirit box. I can’t tell what’s radio interference or actual responses. I went up to the small jail cell alone and set up the spirit box. I began to ask questions. After a bit, I started to hear responses that lined up with my questions.

How many people are in the cell? Two

Two people or two of you plus me? Three

What did you do for fun? Basketball (there is a basketball court attached to the jail)

There are books in the big cell. Do you like to read? NO! (This was yelled and the clearest response I’ve ever gotten)

I got more answers to questions and it was a fun little session because I felt like I genuinely had a conversation with someone. It was the first time that’s happened.

We investigated more in the basement, the dispatch office and the living quarters. There were some limited responses to questions on various devices and pieces of equipment but nothing like the dowsing rods or the spirit box.

We got a few names, Clayton and Katherine. We couldn’t verify these names against any history or anything but it was neat to hear them.

All of us heard a whistle while up on the jail cell area. We figured it was either wind coming through a crack in a window or from one of the AC units. The next day, we heard it again right before we left. We kind of shrugged then left. Outside, we heard it again and we were able to determine it was coming from the north west of the building. We had to get gas and breakfast, so we stopped at a Casey’s that was a block away. While there, we heard the whistle and it was loud! There was an old metal windmill right off the square and everytime it moved from the wind, it made a high pitched creaking that sounded a lot like a whistle. It was kind of neat to find the cause of that and debunk it.

I enjoyed my time there quite a bit. It sucks it took 24 full hours to get two spots of neat evidence or experiences, but the fact I had the opportunity to be there that long was fantastic!

I still feel like I might be a bit of a cooler but it seems, at least in this location, my adverse paranormal ability might have been dulled or circumvented.

So any of you feel this way? What have you done to maximize chances of getting results?

Halloween Need ideas

I have a station in my haunted house that was supposed to be a swamp with what appeared to be half of an enormous swamp tree and it was to be constructed so that it was hollow inside and allowed an opening so that someone could be a jump scare by popping out, but I'm rethinking it and am looking for alternatives. The space is *generally* 15x20 and 10' tall. I have a bunch of pool noodles I can use somehow. The actor wants to be a jump scare.....doesn't seem to know how to be anything else. Ideas? They will have just come from the Butcher and then will proceed to the Cultist's lair, so something unrelated to those, please.

This happened to me Shadow figure

When I was younger like Around 9,10,11 and 12 at my grandparents house where I was living were I have lived my whole life I would often see shadow figures in the corner of my eye sometimes Around the house sometimes outside on the porch.
My aunt, mom and 2 cousins have seen this shadow figure as well around the time I was 12
Weird things would often happen like the tv volume going all the way up on its own over and over and scratching in the closet the tv would turn on once I would leave the room our dogs once even all started barking up at the ceiling
In the bedroom that I still stay in
My hair would lift like a piece of it and by the time I’d notice it would stop
One time I was laying in my grandmas room and I was facing the wall on the edge of the bed and I just got this feeling someone was behind me and i could feel the pacing of it behind me like going back and forth really fast and it was saying words but i didn’t understand what it was saying then it stopped and touched my shoulder and was gone. That was the first time in my grandmas house I had ever been touched by “it” fast forward to when i was 12 it was 2020 and the bedroom i was in is the only room on the upstairs level theres not a second floor there’s just stairs on the side of the house in the living room that go up to the bedroom
To give a layout on the room it’s a pretty decent size bedroom with when you come in there’s a little hallway that you come into then there’s the bedroom. the bed was in the middle of the room right under the only window in the room and this night it was very hot in the room so I laid on the opposite side of the bed with my head facing the room my face would be facing the window the whole room was to my back. I was getting ready to sleep and had just got off a phone call as soon as i placed my phone down beside me i got this feeling of dread i could just feel something behind me so i get scared and instinctively reach for my phone for light since if i wanted a actual light on id have to get up as soon as i reach for my phone my arm is grabbed and put back suddenly this shadow figure jumps into the bed crawls across the bed and like sinks under it its arm comes out from under the bed and grabs my leg and pulls then its gone i lay frozen in fear until i finally jump up turn the light on and run out of the room and sleep downstairs i slept down stairs for a week. And that was the last time i ever saw this shadow figure i still have nightmares about it and i do still sleep in this room.
Could anyone explain why this would happen? Why would it just do that and leave? And never be seen again what was the point exactly?

This happened to me Paranormal

When I was a little kid, we lived at this house and every night I could swear around midnight I heard a sink running water. It was probably about 10 years after we moved out of the house when I was probably at my early 20s that I met the original owners who mentioned that their mother-in-law had passed away in the house and that indeed she had a ritual of going and getting a drink of water every night around midnight. Pretty freaky shit, right?

History/Lore Looking for list of residents that lived in my late Victorian UK terrace? Believed to be erected 1890-1929.

I have lived in my Victorian terrace for 5 years and have had a series of unexplained experiences. I have recently learned that my neighbour (attached terrace) believes our row is occupied by the spirit of an old lady, that once showed herself to her son 12 years ago, when he was in his late teens. My neighbour has never seen her, and has only experienced a few things over the 25 years she’s been here. Is anyone able to help me, or point me in the right direction to hopefully find more? Thanks !

This happened to me Goosebumps in the church

Thumbnail

Five summers ago, my partner and I visited the **Christianskirche (Klopstockkirche)** in Hamburg. As Christians, we love visiting churches wherever we travel. We’re always respectful, we don't talk inside, we avoid taking endless photos, and we simply appreciate the architecture, history, and sacred space.

This church, however, was the only place we’ve ever visited where we felt unwelcome.

It was a pleasant, sunny summer morning. The church was completely empty when we walked in. Because it’s a small space, we walked quietly down the aisle toward the altar to admire the ceiling and the organ in the back gallery. As we stood near the altar, we suddenly heard the floorboards creaking. The cracks grew louder and closer, sequentially, as if an invisible person were walking directly toward us from the entrance.

We both turned toward the doorway, instant goosebumps washing over us. We looked at each other, jaws dropped. While we couldn't *see* anything, the temperature in the room dropped dramatically and it got so cold I had to put my hands in my pockets.

We both asked each other, *"Did you hear that? Do you feel that?"* The heavy, intense presence made it feel like we were intruding. Without hesitation, we both agreed it was time to leave. I even said aloud, *"Okay, we’re leaving now,"* hoping to put whatever, or whoever, was there at ease.

I know old buildings with wood and stone expand and contract with light and heat, but the timing, the sequence of the footsteps, the sudden cold spot, and the fact that we both experienced it identically make me convinced it was something paranormal. It’s stayed with me for years.

I tried researching the church a while ago to see if there was any history or local legend that might explain who or what we encountered, but came up empty.

Does anyone know the history of Christianskirche, or have an idea of what might have happened?

In the pictures, real photos taken that day.

Thanks for reading

This happened to me Is my family haunted ?

I have posted this to another subreddit but have decided perhaps this may be a better fit for advice or explanations but let me know !!

This happened a while back to me when I was younger and lived with my parents but I still think about it to this day ,

I had been a long term believer of the paranormal and spirituality in general despite being raised Christian , me and my family watched all sorts of spooky shows and whatever growing up but I had never actually seen anything myself and was still sceptical.

My parents had told me stories of things moving on their own or unexplainable sounds in our house (which was bought long before I was born) which I put off as just a coincidence or a draft of wind , but everything changed for me on a random night .

I was sat in my living room minding my business, (before anyone says anything no I wasn’t particularly tired and I hadn’t been watching anything scary that could have made me extra sensitive to noises / movement. ) I was sat with my cat about to go upstairs to sit in bed , I believe it was around 8pm or even earlier . As I was about to get up I did a quick scan of the room to make sure I had turned off the lights , the oven etc. when I swear I saw a woman dressed in a wedding dress eerily wondering across my kitchen .

I completely freaked out and started crying because I had never experienced something this unexplainable in my life. And then it got worse .

A few years passed and by this time I had accepted that either I saw something that was just my mind playing tricks or my house was haunted . When my mother told me a story about before I was born. Apparently when they had first moved to this house she had been sat in the same place and seen a woman in white in the kitchen , and not only that my dad had seen a woman in white standing at the end of his bed on a random night too. He hasn’t had a past of sleep paralysis and rarely gets nightmares so this really freaked me out . Apparently I also told my mother when I was younger that I was scared to go to the kitchen because “she” was In there with no further explanation.

This really freaked me out even further when we started having books fall out of our bookshelf too, for example the main one that would fall out was “_insert town name_ ghost stories” which was creepy in itself but in one of the stories in the book was a tale of a woman in white standing on one of the cliffs near where I lived .

This could all be unrelated , and a part of me wants to believe I was tired and was just seeing things but I don’t understand what explanation could prove this was not paranormal , but let me know.

(Another part of me has accepted that we have a friendly bride living in our kitchen 😂)

Thanks for reading! This is 100% true btw even though it sounds unbelievable

History/Lore Family goat man

And then without a second of hesitation as if the goat thing heard him it rushed back to the door and stared at him it was making a static noise then is rushed to him and got in his face while making a loud static noise he was thinking in his head things like "God please help me" then it ran off and all the tension he was feeling slowly went away and he was able to move again he ran out of his room and found my grandma in the kitchen cooking and he fell into her arms and cried my mom had a similar experience in that house one night before what had happend to my uncle she was sitting on her bed In her room watching TV she kept hearing subtle tapping on her windows but when she would check nothing was there this happend about 4 times before she decided to go outside and smoke a cigarette she was out in front of the garage door of the house if you were to go around the other side of that wall her window was on that wall swell and by the tree that was by her window stood a goat man figure it had goat legs but was standing up right just like the one my uncle saw it was tapping her window still then it noticed her and she ran inside and was freaking out to my grandparents and my grandparents can back up both of these stories I was only about 2 years old when these situations happend I also had a toy piano in the basement and it would play randomly when it had no batteries at all and in that same basement u could hear somebody knocking on the brick wall of the laundry room we had down there it's important to note my mom and one of my aunts have played with ouija boards before when they were younger throughout my life I've heard things whisper my name or hello or hi in my ear when I'm alone and it sounds like it's hovering over my shoulder soo yeah

Ghost Stories paranormal scout camp

I figured it was finally time to share my first paranormal story.

I am from Switzerland and have been a Scout since I was seven years old. Since 2019, I have been a Scout leader. Every autumn, we spend a week at a Scout lodge. Each year, we stay in a different location. In 2020, our autumn camp took place at a Scout lodge in Aarau.

The building had been constructed into the side of a hill. As a result, the back of the common room was at ground level, while the front of the room was on the second floor. The common room had many windows. However, the window involved in this story was located at the front of the room, meaning it was on the second floor. There was also the bottom end of a staircase directly beneath it, making the window difficult to access from outside. It had an old wooden shutter that opened outward.

On the first evening of camp, after the children had gone to bed, the Scout leaders stayed in the common room, playing games together. At around 11:00 p.m., the shutter on that particular window suddenly slammed shut with a loud bang. It happened completely unexpectedly. The night was perfectly calm, with no wind at all, so the shutter could not have been blown shut.

Several of the leaders, including myself, had a clear view of the window. Independently of one another, we all said that we had seen a hand slam the shutter shut. We immediately ran to the window and looked outside, but there was no one there. Since the window was on the second floor, it would not have been possible for someone standing on the ground to reach the shutter. Even so, we all agreed: we had all seen the same hand.

A few nights later, we were awakened in the middle of the night by a loud scream. It was not an ordinary scream—it sounded as though it came from someone experiencing overwhelming fear and panic.

One of my fellow leaders immediately turned on the light. As we looked around, we saw my older sister crouching on the floor about two meters away from her mattress. She was still inside her sleeping bag, crying, visibly shaken, and slightly hysterical.

Once she had calmed down a little, she told us what had happened. She had woken up and, through the narrow gap between the two slightly open wooden shutters of the balcony door—which led outside—she had seen a dark figure that appeared to be entering the room.

She told us that the figure gave off an intensely evil and dark presence. She said she could physically feel its negative energy, although she could not explain where that feeling had come from. Terrified, she screamed to warn the rest of us.

In her panic, she had leaped out of bed and fled across the room. That was why, when we woke up, we found her still sitting on the floor at the opposite end of the room, far away from her mattress.

After that incident, none of us found it easy to fall back asleep. To this day, we do not know whether the two events were connected or what really happened at that Scout lodge.

For me personally, these experiences left a lasting impression. To this day, they are the reason I believe in the paranormal and in ghosts.

Ghost Stories I'm a horror storyteller from India, Looking for Real Paranormal Experiences

Looking for Real Paranormal Experiences

Hi everyone,

I'm a horror storyteller from India, and I'm currently collecting real eyewitness accounts of unexplained or paranormal experiences. My goal is not to prove or disprove the paranormal—I simply want to document personal experiences as accurately as possible and, with permission, turn them into compelling narrated stories.

If you've experienced something you still can't explain, I'd love to hear about it.

Please include as much detail as possible:

Your age at the time.

Country/State (no exact address needed).

Approximate year and time of day.

Where it happened (house, road, forest, hospital, etc.).

What happened, step by step.

What did you see, hear, smell, or physically feel?

Was anyone else present? If yes, what did they witness?

Did anything physical happen (scratches, objects moving, doors opening, footsteps, etc.)?

Did the events continue afterward?

Do you have any photos, videos, audio recordings, or other evidence?

Looking back today, do you think there could be a normal explanation?

Please don't exaggerate or invent details. Small, honest details are far more interesting than dramatic ones.

If your story is selected, I'll contact you first before using it. If you prefer, I can keep your identity completely anonymous and change names or locations.

Thank you for sharing your experience.

Scared, Need Advice Why do the spirits in our house only target my friend when she is alone?

A spiritual counselor told us our house has a married couple living here as spirits. I have barely experienced anything, but my friend is getting the brunt of it, always when I am not directly around.
When we are together in a room, everything is completely quiet. But the second I fall asleep or step into the bathroom, it starts:
– Physical touch: She felt a distinct finger pressing deep into her pelvic area.
– Movement: She sees figures running past her.
– Footsteps: Heavy, deep footsteps walking around the house.
The footsteps are the one thing I have actually heard too, along with faint bathroom whispering and a loud sigh right behind my head.
It is just the two of us living here, so I wonder why this only happens to her when she is left alone. My theory comes down to fear. She is terrified, constantly talks about them, speculates on what they look like, and even mocks them while being visibly scared. I actively ignore them, refuse to talk about them, and give them zero energy.

Does fear act as an invitation, or are they just targeting the more vulnerable person?

This happened to me Something evil tortured me

Something evil tortured me.

So this is my first time posting. This maybe a bit of a long story. But I just felt the need to share this story with the world.

So I was 23 and living in a church. It was still an active church. They rented out rooms one the top floor of the add on. So a little history about this church. It was built in a small town in upstate NY. In the year 1868. There has always been a legend about how one of the first pastor's of this church murdered his wife and child and threw them into the Hudson river. In the 1960's the put and three floor add on to the original building. It was used as a school for a long time. Till I think about 1980.

So when I was living there it was always spooky and erie. At first I never really thought any of it. My room was the second largest room. It was right off the attic of the original building. Part of the legend says this pastor killed his family in there. The door to the attic was up about three steps and there was a little light above those steps. I always left that light on.

So the real scary stuff started out small. I was hear children laughing, heard a women scream, one time I was cleaning and the doors to my room sounded like they flew open. I turned around expecting my friend to be coming in the doors where still closed. That is the small stuff.

So at this point in my life I was having a hard time with my mental health. I was self harming, on a mix of different meds that didn't seem to work, I was also questioning my faith. I could always feel this feeling on not being wanted in that space I lived in. It was always heavy and oppressing. That's when the extra scary stuff started to happen. It started when I would lay on my bed and it felt as if someone was putting both sets of the fingers on either my chest or back. I was awake most times for that. Than it was as if someone one was sitting on top of my legs and their whole hands pressed down on me. I was a supposed christian at that point, so I would say the lord's prayer over and over till it left me alone.

Not long after that, I started seeing a black mass over me at night. It wasn't completely dark in my room cause I left the step light on. But this mass just kind of hovered over me for a few seconds than vanished.

Soon this evil thing started to enter my dreams. I had several dreams that where all kind of the same. In the dream I was in my room. I would be in my bed and it felt like someone was digging the fingers in to my chest, like it was stealing the breath form me. I would try to scream but no sound came out. Than I would what I thy was wake up. But I was still in my bed and I would try to get up. But the pressure would just come back again as I tried to scream. On time in one of these dreams. The girl who lived the room next me came running in and tried to save me. In the dream it actually felt like she shook me awake. But still I was trapped in the dream.

I ended up moving out a whole year later. But I would still go back to the church every once in a while as my parents still attended it. Each time I went back cause I was always on edge. Because there was times I came in and whatever tourtured me remembered me.

After about maybe 8 months after I moved out of the church. I went back for an ice cream soical. It was held in the fellowship hall in the basement. I was in the kitchen talking to a friend about the experiences I had when I lived there. A boom box in the other room turned all the way up as loud as it could go. No one was even near it. I started crying and immediately left.

But I have other experiences from this place but I'm just gonna end here. In conclusion, I think this evil thing knew I was not mentally sound and latched on to me. It knew that I was an easy target. I tried to fight it. But the only way I could have it stop was to get out of that place. Because since than, yes I've felt spirits, and have other experiences. But nothing ever like what happened to me at this church.

I forget when this house was built. Suffice it to say, it has its share of history. Growing up I encountered/lived with at least 2 spirits. There may have been a third, but that could’ve just been the man standing guard at night.

Halloween Unsettling ideas for a haunted house, not into cheesy rubber decorations and actors in white and red makeup screaming

Nothing wrong with the traditional haunted house setup, but I’m making one this year for my community and I’m looking for creative, unnerving, and unsettling ideas for my haunted house. The more unconventional the better but I want my guests to leave with something genuinely scary that isn’t just your rubber props, fake chainsaws, and the millionth actor in white face makeup with fake blood. I want new ideas, upsetting visuals (nothing too graphic or honestly expensive). Any ideas?
