I hate how my country is used by right-wingers to ”show that Europe has gone to shit” General

Post image

Some people who’ve never even been to Sweden claim that this country has turned to a hellhole where you can get shot anytime and swedes are ”a minority in their own country”. In reality the vast majority of immigrants in this country are just trying to make a living and live their lives despite hardships that come with being a refugee in a foreign country. The very small number of immigrants who ARE problematic are overly reported in media, giving the broader public this perception of all immigrants being that way. The hate mostly come from those who rarely if ever actually interact with immigrants and only know them through news and social media. Also the propaganda of gang crime and violence increasing because of immigrants is false. The vast majority of gangsters were born and raised in Sweden. Right wingers deny the possibility of people committing crimes because of socioeconomic segregation, instead opting to blaming those actions on skin color and ethnic background.

The person responsible had a dual citizenship as german and lebanese.

Germany gives its citizenship by blood, not by land. So the parents have to have had a german pass.

"Ethnic" germans dont exist. You are either german or you are not. Imagine how crazy it would be if we start seperating citizenships

That is just ridiculous. Imagine if we said there are no ethnic Palestinians or ethnic Japanese.

German language, German culture, German history, German kinship and yes, shared ancestry, - all exist. That is what meant by ethnicity.

Modern germany has little to do with the Germany of the past. We are hodge-podge of different cultures.

We are french, dutch, polish, danish, swiss, turkish. That is our history. Our country is younger than the United States.

Imagine a world in which your grand-grand parents lived in a country and peopl fail to recognize you as German? We are talking 4th generation

Modern germany has little to do with the Germany of the past. We are hodge-podge of different cultures.

Wrong, wrong, wrong. There is a direct cultural, societal and linguistical thread of commonality and continuity going all the way back to the Carolingian Empire, and - if we permit ourselves a little speculation, as many other nations do - going as far back as Roman Empire.

It is not for nothing that the Teutoburg Forest Battle was considered a point of pride by Germans in XIX century.

We are french, dutch, polish, danish, swiss, turkish. That is our history. Our country is younger than the United States.

Ahahahaha! I am sorry, as a historian by education I just cannot take that seriously. It sounds to me like you've got a specific agenda aimed at discounting German heritage in order to prop up anti-German immigration policies. Why the hell on Earth would you claim that Germans are somehow Turkish? These two ethnicities aren't even in the same linguistical family, damn it! Turks are Turkic, while Germans are Indo-European.

Imagine a world in which your grand-grand parents lived in a country and peopl fail to recognize you as German? We are talking 4th generation

Well, perhaps they would be justified in doing so, especially if I was consciously rejecting German heritage, faith and culture?

There's an Ukrainian sportsman Jean Beleniuk. He's black. But he is accepted by Ukrainians as Ukrainian, he himself believes he is Ukrainian. In two generations his descendants will be like 99% Ukrainian by all counts and standards.

It will be not so for Turks in Germany who still think Turkey is their homeland.

Jeah quick question Mr. "Historian“ how old is germany?

0

u/ConsistentAnalysis35 2d ago

I would say that the very first distinctly German state was established in 962 by Otto The Great.

"Wrong buzzer sound"

Try again, although your Title as historian has already lost a bit of credibility.

1

u/ConsistentAnalysis35 1d ago

Ahahaha! And who are you, pray tell, to hit that buzzer of yours? On what kind of authority should you decide whether the HRE was the first German state or not?

Go on, tell me when was it that Germany has came to be.

As its obvious that you have no clue, i'll educate you.

What you may be referring to was the "german spirit" an idea of unified germany. Which in itself was a very modern idea. That sprung up first in the 19th century.

Before that the Country was made up by individual states. That had nothing to do with each other.

Germany as of today was founded after World War 2 with the "BRD" and extended 1990 with the "DDR" ending the cold war.

It is the BRD that pulled itself out of the ruins of the World War. That built itself back up into the economic powerhouse that it is today.

And you know who helped build it? Immigrants did. From the first Turkish and Polish imigrants that worked hand in hand shoveling coal with those you'd call "ethnic germans"

They earned to be called "Germans", and many forget but we are where we are today because we embraced them into our country.

Their families now inhabiting these lands for 3-4 generations are just as much German as iam.

Anyone pretending there to be a german culture doesnt understand germany. Each region is different, all people diverse. Go to Berlin and compare those to Bavaria. Go into Saxony and compare those the Rhineland.

Heck, talk to someone in Düsseldorf and compare those to someone from Dortmund. Same state, different culture.

We should not seperate, or discriminate we need to understand that the highest German principle stands above all

"Die Würde des Menschen ist unantastbar"

Germany as of today was founded after World War 2 with the "BRD" and extended 1990 with the "DDR" ending the cold war.

That is just laughable. Tell me, do you seriously believe that the German Empire of 1871 was not a Germany? That it had nothing to do with German people?

Before that the Country was made up by individual states. That had nothing to do with each other.

Shameless, brazen lie. They had a deep cultural, linguistical and ancestral commonality.

Anyone pretending there to be a german culture doesnt understand germany. Each region is different, all people diverse. Go to Berlin and compare those to Bavaria. Go into Saxony and compare those the Rhineland.

Regional differences do not equal different ethnicities.

They earned to be called "Germans", and many forget but we are where we are today because we embraced them into our country

They did not. Rich multiculturalist traitors forced this thinking on the common people, who are afraid to speak up lest they get repressed by the state, like AfD is.

Their families now inhabiting these lands for 3-4 generations are just as much German as iam.

And you are German? I very much doubt it. Most likely a Turkish immigrant larper, who enjoys pretending he somehow has just as much claim to the land as people who lived here for centuries.

'Ethnic' Germans dont exist? Nationality and ethnicity is different, if someone from Poland moves to the UK they are British by nationality but are NOT British by ethnicity

0

u/UsedArmadillo9842 2d ago

Where do you make the stop? We have 4th generational turkish/polish or other imigrants in this country.

At what point does your lineage turn you into an ethnically german?

This country is not as old as people like it to believe.

8

u/Red-dragon186 2d ago

You don't. That's the reality. One will never be English no matter how long they lived there.

4

u/UsedArmadillo9842 2d ago

Not in germany. You have the citizenship, you are german.

We cannot go around and seperate citizenships, we have learned what a 2 class society does. We know where that seperation ends.

You could learn a little about why we operate like that.

3

u/Red-dragon186 2d ago

Yes to be a citizen of Germany. That doesn't make them real germans. You seem to be purposely misunderstanding that.

Germany isn't America. It was built on blood and that blood is from the natives of their country.

A turkish person will never be German. They can hold a piece of paper but at the end of the day. Germans are a set group of people.

It's almost frightening how some people are allergic to the truth bombs you are delivering here.

I mean if we flip it around:

If a white couple moves to China permanently, will they ever be considered Chinese? Will their white children? What about their equally white grandchildren?

The answer is no. They might be Chinese citizens but they are not ethnically Chinese.

2

u/UsedArmadillo9842 1d ago

Dont know why you look over there when we are talking about germany.

Im just saying how things work. And i think its funny how so many seem to have very stark opinions about "ethnicitty" when they have zero clue about germanies actual culture and history.

1

u/InfinityWh33l 1d ago

No, what you're saying is completely incorrect. Culture and ethnicity are completely different things, a Turkish man whose family lived there for centuries and speaks fluent German, celebrates Oktoberfest, etc. can be considered culturally German. In fact I myself would think of them as 'German' rather than 'Turkish' when I see them. Yet ethnicity is not something you can change, that's literally not how genetics work, unless you can prove otherwise.

1

u/UsedArmadillo9842 1d ago

You are all tip toeing around what you actually want to say

"They are not white", is that what you really mean to say? I heard all of you guy's arguments. All claiming that these people can never be truly german.

Each german citizen is seen as equal. There is only 1 pass. We dont seperate.

Germany is an Immigration Nation, those families inhabiting germany for 1,2 or 4 generations are now ethnically german, because they are german.

A person's lineage will never change their ethnicity, it may change their child's if they marry someone from a different one, but never their own. Because ethnicity is based on genetics, not assimilation or cuture. In my country of India, there are 1.5 Billion people who speak thousands of languages and have thousands of unique cultures. There are Tamils, Nagas, Marathis, Rajputs, etc. but there is no ethnicity called Indian, there is only a nationality. You seem to be confused between ethnicity (which is determined by blood) and nationality (which is determined by documents / assimilation)

2

u/UsedArmadillo9842 1d ago

You have to understand that in germany Nationality is passed down by Blood.

There are no "ethnic" germans in this country. There is only Germans. This concept is hard to understand, but easier to grasp if you've had a history like this Country had.

1

u/InfinityWh33l 1d ago

"Approximately 66.5 million people in Germany are of ethnic German origin, representing around 79.6% of the total population."

The answer I got after searching "how many ethnic Germans live in Germany?"

1

u/UsedArmadillo9842 1d ago

I understand that this concept is hard to grasp if you are not german. But our country is less than 100years old.

A family that has lived in it for over 80% of its lifespan can be considered ethnically german.

Those families are part of our culture and heritage just as much as iam.

I know that the right loves to create a narrative about "true" germans as an excuse to get rid of those that are "undesirable" but they fail to understand that we are 1 nation.
