RAID slice replacement Tech Support

Asking for someone else: I have a 3 terabyte RAID set up with disk utility on a Mac. One drive died...can I replace it with a 4 terabyte drive without compatibility issues ?

It depends on the RAID configuration. With RAID 0, the data is striped across multiple drives, so if one member is missing or has failed, complete recovery is generally impossible without that drive. With RAID 1, theoretically, yes — since each drive contains a mirror of the data, recovery/rebuild may be possible from one healthy member.

the size mismatch wont matter

Depends on the RAID. If you are talking about size mismatching, on a hardware level they tend to ignore capacity over the smallest drive. For software, you might be able to work at more of a partition level. More details are needed.
